BestFriends 2018  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.16
by: Phuein [More]
Gift me @phuein in-game, if you have extra crowns and appreciate my addons. (Can even ask which DLC I missed.) Thank you!

This is the updated, improved, and upgraded version of the same addon. It follows the way the game originally handles these events, and is compatible with LibChatMessage.

Added a settings menu with an option to just turn off all login/logoff notifications entirely.

The top-right notification is built-in to the game. You can always inbox me for requests and offers.

So I'm a moron apparently I thought the switch (show no notifications) meant turn it off in chat so I left it default to ON
**NOW** that i fianally figured out it meant show the notification in the upper right it works perfectly

DUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH

Thanks so much for fixing it - it's a huge quality of life improvement. It's one of those things that when it's broken you really notice it and miss it but when it's working you don't give it much thought. It *is* appreciated though.

ajax, the test button should print a chat message to show you that it works. The login/logoff alert should still display in the top-right corner. Does it? Or are you getting the those alerts in the chat as usual?

wolf, thanks for that detailed feedback. Update 2.15 should now take care of that.
Updated this morning to 2.15 - still just prints to chat window nothing in top right. I'm going to screenshot my addons folder for you. I also may disable everything but bestfriends and start from there.

You guys provide me with very useful feedback, with an addon that can be difficult to test live by myself.

Long story short, latest update is sorta working on all characters. It's no longer printing to chat, but when my friend comes online, I'm actually getting a notification that they went offline. Additionally, the name isn't correct. It's saying that some random numbers (as the username) has logged off with that person's username. And finally, I don't get any notification (chat or not) when they log off.

I'm not getting any errors with this, but I don't know if it's addon interference either.

Example of the inaccurate log status notification and name. I noticed it did that with other users too.

It should get an update in the future to keep up with the changes. Please check if it works for you with the latest update 2.14.

I uninstalled it completely (saved variables an all) and reinstalled. Still same result.
I use luie but I have the chat module off in that
I also use pchat.I disabled both and tried again but same result
Not sure if the above info helps or not.

Thanks for reporting that error so quickly. I just updated again to fix that one, hopefully it should work for everybody now.

Alright, update 2.13 should fix it all. Apparently, Zeni' made breaking changes a week later. It does look like they're trying to improve the chat system, so it's probably worth it.

Enjoy!

P.S. I added a test button in the addon settings, if you want to see it in action quickly.
