Stunning  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 7
by: Architectura [More]
Know when you are stunned in combat... the moment that it happens.

Never be stunned, knocked back, pulled, chained, interrupted or feared again without immediately realizing what happened. This add-on will make the situation abundantly clear by silencing the world around you and blurring your vision until you break free or come to your senses.

Type /stunning into the chat window to toggle this add-on on/off.

Doesn't work on fear

Hi,

Thanks for this amazing addon! Just one question, would you be interested to include fear as well?

Thanks!

Stunning Light has stopped working, it seems.
Is there something I can comment out in the lua of Stunning to stop the game from being muted while stunned?

Edit/Update: Stunning Light works fine. My bad. It was an addon conflict causing both Stunning Light and Stunning to not work as intended.
The addon conflict was Perfect Pixel. In its settings, under "Others", you have to keep "Blur background" set as "ON".

Personally, I would prefer it didn't silence the world around me.
For example, I was doing the quest for vampirism today. I kept getting stunned due to the tutorial and it silenced the NPC's speech. I had subtitles, but it wasn't the same.
I'd like it if it didn't silence the world around me, and/or I had a choice of a sound effect that triggers when stunned.
While I like what this addon offers, I'll have to disable it until other options become available. Thank you for what you've done so far.

Edit: Never mind. There's a "Stunning Light" that I'll use instead.

Thanks; this is an interesting concept.

One suggestion: Instead of setting AUDIO_SETTING_AUDIO_VOLUME to 0, you can just toggle AUDIO_SETTING_AUDIO_ENABLED. Since enabling/disabling the audio has no user-accessible UI setting (setting AUDIO_SETTING_AUDIO_VOLUME to 0 doesn't change AUDIO_SETTING_AUDIO_ENABLED), you won't have to bother with trying to save and restore the user's original setting since there is no way that the user's setting would have it on disabled.

Code:
SetSetting(SETTING_TYPE_AUDIO, AUDIO_SETTING_AUDIO_ENABLED, "0") -- Disable
SetSetting(SETTING_TYPE_AUDIO, AUDIO_SETTING_AUDIO_ENABLED, "1") -- Enable

I took a quick looksie and this is really nice. I would even put it in the immersion addon category.

Maybe a ever so slightly smoother transition for the blur (i'm talking milliseconds) if doable and not affecting the performance. Also an option for sounds/music/sfx : on/off would be great - even thought the default muting is a great idea. These are not needed though as it's fine as it is.

Very nice, thank you.
