HELP IN TRANSLATING NEEDED
If you play German, French or Russian language version and you see parts of Faster Travel UI that are not translated to your language, please suggest correct translation. Your input is appreciated.


Faster Travel adds two new tabs to the default world map information/navigation control and suggests approximately the closest known wayshrines to your current quest objectives.
Adds favourite wayshrines!
Also supports Cyrodiil campaigns and Transitus Wayshrines including queuing, entering, travelling and tooltip display!

PLAYERS TAB (free travel)
Lets you easily teleport to:
- players in your group
- players on your friends list
- zones using players on your friends list, in your group or guild
- players in any of your guilds
(you land at the wayshrine closest to your friend/guildmate's position)
Zones where you have survey or treasure maps are prefixed with green + or yellow * and suffixed with the number of treasure map (in yellow) and survey (in green) locations for maps you have in inventory (please note: locations, not maps, so if you have three surveys pointing to the same location, the number is 1, not 3).

WAYSHRINES TAB (paid travel)
Marks the closest known wayshrine to your quests with the quest's icon from the map (when it is possible to obtain the data).
Displays quest objective tooltips when the mouse is over quest icons.
Numbers in magenta denote how many guild traders are close to every wayshrine.
Lets you fast travel to:
- a recently used wayshrine
- a favourite wayshrine
- a wayshrine in the current zone
- a wayshrine in another zone
- a wayshrine from an alphabetically sorted list
(normal costs apply to all the above, if you're not travelling from another wayshrine)
- a random wayshrine on the current map.
Right-click on wayshrines in this menu to add or remove favourites.

SLASH COMMANDS
/ft zoneName - attempts to teleport to a zone via a player (zoneName can be partial)
/ft zone - if zoneName is literally "zone", use current zone name
/ft @PlayerName - attempts to teleport to a player
/ft CharacterName - attempts to teleport a player using their character name
/ft group - attempts to teleport to the group leader (or a random member of your group if you are the leader)
/ft UnitTag - attempts to teleport to a group member using their unit tag (group1, group2 etc.)

For all of the above you can use /goto instead of /ft (for backward compatibility).

/ft alias name zonename - defines an alias "name" pointing to "zonename", so that if you use:
/ft alias fen Shadowfen
you can then go to Shadowfen with "/ft fen"
/ft alias name - removes a previously defined alias "name"
/ft alias - lists defined aliases
/ft verbosity n - sets verbosity level to n, where:
n = 0 - quiet (almost no messages in chat)
n = 1 - normal verbosity level (default)
n = 2 - a bit more verbose
n > 2 - for debugging only
/ft verbosity - shows verbosity level
/ft recents on|off - turns on/off your "Recent" list
/ft listlen n - sets the max length of "Recent" list to n, where 0<n<100 (default value is 10)
/ft listlen - shows the max length of "Recent" list

The option of "Jump to this zone" is added at the bottom of the main map; I assume that when I am viewing a zone that I have at least one wayshrine in, it's supposed to teleport me to that zone? Because, every time I click it, the addon tells me "can't jump top that zone, would you like to jump to a random zone?".

Now, I could just be misunderstanding what this option is supposed to do.

You understood this option correctly, what you've missed is that its (and this addon's in general) main purpose is to teleport you at no cost - and for that, you need to have at least one friend or guildmate in the target zone. If you're willing to pay the cost, you can select a known wayshrine on the map, just like you would without an addon. There are three ways of fast travel in ESO:
  1. you use a wayshrine you stand at - no cost
  2. you teleport from anywhere to a known wayshrine, paying the cost
  3. you teleport to a guildmate/friend, landing at the wayshrine nearest to them, paying no cost and possibly discovering a wayshrine if not known yet
What FT does is finding for you a person in the right zone for the third mode of travel, so the more people you know, the higher chance of successful travel to any zone. The "Players" tab shows you only the zones with active friends/guildmates.

Uhm, no, it just should show up. If you have zones sorted by level, try switching to sort by name and see if it helps.

Setting verbosity to quiet does exactly that (unless you want a separate option turning off just this message regardless of verbosity level, in this case the answer is "no").

Wasn't able to reproduce. Are you sure it is random, not in some particular circumstances, I don't know, like after declining a teleport or something?

Yes, it remembers and restores the last selected tab. I could make another option, "Don't do anything", it would work differently from "Last Tab" because, you see, the game itself does not always select the last tab used; just the opposite - it actively switches to Locations tab at a wayshrine. So I need to actually save the last tab to be able to restore it no matter what the game does by default.

I don't use other map tab related addons, so I can't guess what possible interactions may result. You're right about loading order, which also defines the order in which hooks, event handlers etc. are called. It may lead to some complications.

I think it didn't because for whatever reason, Faster Travel now lets you select the default tab, but it somehow doesn't get saved, resulting in empty value in default on add-on load, and focusing NO tab at all when map is open. Changing that in settings fixes it only until the next load.

Yes, I do and had it from the start.

The real problem is like this: a droplist has labels and values. "Automatic" etc. are labels (strings) that are visible to the player, but what gets stored in SavedVars is the value of selected option. In 3.0.8 that value was an identifier (a 5-digit number) associated with the label (using ZO_CreateStringId API function in lang/*.lua files or just by the game itself in case of system tab names like "Quests"). That identifier is assigned by the game, an addon has no control over what id is assigned to any string, and apparently this assignment can randomly change after addon reload (I still have no idea why it changed for some people, but not for me), so sometimes the value stored in SavedVars no longer identifed any existing label, and that resulted in blank being shown in options. Now I store just the option number - 1 for Automatic, 2 for Last Tab etc., which is immune to any randomness.

This looks like conflict with some other addon. Try turning off other addons that might have something to do with the map.
I've had no issues anymore with the map staying up now that the Initial Tab setting's value has been set properly. So it seems it was somehow related to the lack of that setting.
