QuickCompass  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.0.1.17
by: Zen [More]
This was originally developed by TiddlyPlatypus and I'm very grateful for the work that was done. Full karma plus bonuses heading your way Tiddly.

1.0.1.4 fixes AP earned issues

I have updated this so the background is transparent, then added the following features:
  • Save and restore last known position
  • Changed the on/off toggle to actually turn it off instead of just hiding it
  • Allowed 16-point compass for those that like it
  • Added bounding directions plus toggle to disable this feature
  • Set the refresh rate (low, medium, high)
  • Set when the compass is displayed (all zones, in groups, in cyrodiil)
  • Settings can now be managed per character or account via the Settings menu
  • Added slash commands to manage the addon
  • Added /qchelp slash command to display all available commands
  • Added AP Earned window

Bounding directions are those that are the next directions if you turned left or right. For example, assuming you're using the 8-point compass and facing North, the compass would display "NW N NE". This is handy for those that get flustered in battle and someone shouts out that enemies are attacking us to the West - looking at the compass they can figure out which way to turn. It's a small thing I know, but there will be people who like/need it. You can see what this looks like in the snapshot.

The default location for the compass is on the left edge of the screen and somewhere between the chat box and the escape menu (assuming the chatbox is default size and position and 1080 screen resolution).

If you have a low spec computer or dual-core chip, you can now alter the rate at which the compass refreshes to reduce lag. Higher spec computers should have no trouble at the high rate.

When setting the compass to All Zones, the compass will be displayed everywhere at all times (assuming it is enabled). When set to Group, it will only display when you are in a group. Set to Cyrodiil, it will only display in that zone, but will display there regardless of whether you are in a group or not.

AP Earned Window
This displays when you are in Cyrodiil (can be disabled in Settings) and shows:
  • AP Earned since entering Cyrodiil
  • The most recent AP tick
  • AP per hour (first hour shows current AP earned, thereafter recalcs the value every 5 secs)
  • How long you have been in Cyrodiil
  • Total AP

The AP Earned window grabs your current AP when you enter Cyrodiil, but due to a bug in the API, this sometimes returns zero, so the next time it checks it thinks you've earned all your AP in the current session. I've added the slash command /qcresetap to reset the values if this happens to you. This was fixed in v1.0.0.10, but the slash command remains in case you want it.

Using Wykkyd's Advanced Settings, you can now copy settings from one character to others.

Take a look at ChampionXP for monitoring how much CXP you've earned since logging in and how deep your Enlightenment pool is (lifebelt not supplied): ChampionXP

While the author is away indefinitely, I felt like making some changes. Starting with an option to display during combat only. Please read the description and feel free to use it.

think you could add a setting to NOT show when have map open? I like to have the compas in middle of screen and makes reading map when open a lil difficult.

Enabling for the current zone

I was asked if I could add an option to include the Imperial City and Sewers when setting the "Cyrodiil" option as to where you'd like the compass displayed.

I've done something slightly different which I think is more versatile and takes into considreation the needs of many more users and future DLC's.

Type the following command into the chat window:
/qcnow

This will enable the compass for the current zone, and as long as you stay in it, it will be displayed. This will override any other settings, so if you want to disable the compass, you'll either have to disable the addon entirely, or more conveniently, travel to another zone.

Doh! My bad, I forgot to update the list of dependencies when I replaced the outdated library files.

Thanks for the error dump. I'll try to see if I can repeat this somehow using different combinations of addons, and hopefully I can repeat this error. Meanwhile, your error dump really helps me find what caused the error.

Is there anything else I can try?

It should be ok if it works in the normal zones. If it doesn't, just let me know, I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Oopsies - I'll try and get a fix for this today - I generally use a version of this that's integrated into another addon I use, so didn't catch that error, my bad
