BeamMeUp - Beta-Channel - Teleporter (Fast Travel)  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.4.5
by: Gamer1986PAN, @DeadSoon
This is the Beta-Channel of our Addon BeamMeUp. We will release most of the updates and beta versions in this channel before we update the final channel. You are invited to test new features and report any bugs if they exist.

We suggest you test the official release before to find differences between the versions.

This Addon allows you to use the fast travel functionality of the game in a comfortable and highly costumizable way. All fast travel options you have through your guilds, friends and group are listed in a clear way and are usable with different search and filtering features.

Features:
  • Search, Filter, Favorite, Customize
    • Sorted list of all fast travel options and much additional information
    • Search by player or zone names
    • Easily port to Group Leader or Group Members in Dungeons (always on top) and see if they are in the same game instance as you
    • Set specific players or zones as favorites and easily port to them via keybinding
    • Use the different tabs to find Fast Travel options to the open/displayed map (world map) and also to the Delves located there
    • Use filters and blacklists and many other options to customize your personal filtering (e. g. show only Overland maps or hide different types of zones)
    • Filter by only group, friends or guild members via the right click menu
    • Display only one entry for each zone or see all players you can travel to
    • Change the sorting and configure the number of entries (number of visible lines)

      • Location/Entrance of Delves, Houses, ... will be marked with a Map Ping
      • With installed Skyshard Addon you can make faster decisions whether a Fast Travel is worthwhile
    • Use the house button to port to your primary residence

  • Connect Treasure and Survey Maps with found Travel Options

Tell us what you think about the new Features and feel free to tell us if you think we should try to explain some features more detailed - so everybody can find those "hidden features" and profit from them.

One of the best Addons recently - keep up the good work. It saves so much time in traveling.

I'd like to see more "sorting/grouping" options. I would prefer such a list of destinations: first the favorites, then the waypoints and after that the other stuff like dungeons, trials, houses,... Each group sorted alphabetical.

Good point, we will look into it. Thanks for your input. Maybe we can make the order variable and by rightclicking on its wayshrine-symbol you can move all of them together higher or lower in the list.

I use 2 addons atm. This and EasyTravel.

The latter lets me port to zones via command line /tp *zone*/*player*
I'd kind of suggest to fuse the 2 addons, or to add command line capability similar to the search box on map screen.

Is it ok for you with a longer command line like "/bmu/tp zone/player" or you want it as short as possible?
We try to be consistant with our command lines and don't want to cause problems with other addons. Thats why we prefer to use "/bmu" in front of our commands to reduce this problems.

btw did you try the auto focus on the zone-search? we will update that function to auto focus on zone or player search and maybe we can make a toggle hotkey to switch from one search to the other search in future updates.
We also have some different ideas to make that more useful - like if you press "Enter" with only one entry in the list it could possibly auto-port to that entry what would pretty much be like the command line.

We have some other stuff to finish before that, but feel free to comment these possible future functions if you think they could work for you.

Please do not reinvent the wheel and keep the both addons separated, or at least totally disable the chat commands within this addon if one does not need it and chooses to use the other addon.

EasyTravel and beam meup totally work together perfectly seperated into 2 addons.

Imo it's not always good to combine too many features and addons into one big one. Keep them small and maintainable.

The decision is up to 2 you in the end.

Guess as long as we dont use the slash commands:

/tp (aliases: /travel, /goto)

everything should be fine. Thats why i said we want to use /bmu/tp or something like that if we implement the function but i think the auto-focus should do the trick. But i have to wait for @DeadSoon what he thinks is the best atm.

Oc I did not want to have 2 addons using the same command.

/bmu/tp *zone/*player would be perfectly fine.

I just love the option to easily port somewhere via command line, while having search results in that "command line popup" (easytravel)
And the possibility to find ppl in "inner maps" or delves. (BeammeUp)

I feel like a lot of the "core" of the addons is shared, just different UIs. Oc I can use both perfectly. But a lot of the things they do is redundant, and running less addons is helping performance

Dunno how it is reinventing the wheel. Updating 1 addon instead of 2 seems less work overall to me :-/
But I'm a scrub. I know nuthing about coding.

@wambo and @Baertram thank you very much for your thoughts. I can understand both your opinions.

At the moment I am investigating the costs of such a implementation. Baertram is right that there is a risk when combining too many features. Thats why my personal implementation requirement to such a feature will be, that I can use my existing core without adding complex functions running in the background. If I will implement this feature, then it will be just an extension of accessing to the core system. By this I can guarantee, that such a feature will not bloat our Addon or decrease any performance.

However, I don't have a decision yet.

Good news!
I found an easy way to add the requested feature without any complex changes or bloating of the Addon (no influence on performance). In my first prototype its is possible to use slash commands to port to specific zones, not players. But I think this will be sufficiently for now. I will release a new Beta in the coming days and I'm looking forward to your feedback .

In the next release we will also release a option to change the sorting of the list. The option switches the pure alphabetical sorting to "Sort by Category". We already discussed a default ordering (at this moment there is no customizing possible), but we are also interested in your suggestions.

Our initial proposal is the following order: (of course at first Group Leader, favorites etc.)

Overland Zones
Public Dungeons
Delves
un-categorized Zones (like Quest Dungeons without symbol on map)
12 men Dungeons
4 men Dungeons
other Group Zones (Dragonstar, Dungeons in Craglorn, ...)
Houses

Inside each category the entries are sorted alphabetically.
Please tell us, if you support this sorting and what do you think.

Thank you

I'd like to see more "sorting/grouping" options. I would prefer such a list of destinations: first the favorites, then the waypoints and after that the other stuff like dungeons, trials, houses,... Each group sorted alphabetical.

Am I the only one who thinks /bmu/tp is not practially to type?
If you would use /bmutp other addons who use auto complete for the chat commands will jump in and help a lot.
But having the 2nd / in the chat command will just slow down all a lot
You'll have to use shift+7 (German keyboard layout) to get the /. On english clients this is much easier, right, only 1 key pess.

Any reasons not using just /bmutp without the 2nd /, or maybe both commands doing the same?

You can type /rift to show rift on first place in the auto complete. Working with /deshaan or others as well (primary language).

With the version RC01 we change /bmu/tp/zone to the /bmutp/zone and articles are handled like you choosed it in the options for the main-addon-window because of zones like "Die Messingfeste" (wich is the german name for Brass Fortress)

Add-on configuration menu does not appear

I use it in Japanese version ESO. The teleport function can be used, but other functions such as Treasure and Survey Maps and Unlock new Wayshrines automatically can not be used at all. Also, nothing is displayed on the add-on setting menu. It seems to be batting with Postmaster Mail. I get a UI error, but now I can not paste the content here.

We will test the compatibility with Postmaster on our side as well, but nevertheless it will be very helpful, when you can reproduce the LUA Error, tell us the exact steps you did and also provide the exact error message.

To support Japanese language we need the exact displayed item names of:
  • any survey map
  • survey map of Alik'r Desert (because this was a frequent exception in the past)
  • any treasure map
  • treasure map of Alik'r Desert

When you provide these items names (please exact in Japanese characters as displayed), then we can easily try to get it working for you

I think this would be very nice for many other Japanese players. And of course you are welcome to support translation in Japanese for any texts as well.
