Improvised Healthbar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.5
by: XiiDraco [More]
A health bar that has visual indications of amounts of health. This gives greater knowledge of how strong enemies are. Half ticks are measured in 2k, full ticks in 30k. The bar also included an adjustable execution skill indicator, flashing execution notice, different colors for types of NPC's and players, as well as resizability and movability. The health bar now includes a built in DPS meter as well.

Currently function over form. May improve visuals in the future.

Thanks to Circonian for the introduction into Addon development!

Warning: Although I'm sure ESO has it's own warnings I must say: because of flashing colors, this add on may not be suitable for people that have epilepsy.

Update — 06/17/2021: I'm not very involved in the modding/addon community and to be honest the addon needs a re-write to match current ways of doing things (I think this mod still calls on the old libstub?). It's really old and the code frankly kinda sucks.

I don't know if I'll ever get around to it though because I tend to spend my software engineering time working on games instead of writing mods/addons for them. It was originally something I wanted to make for myself and I just shared it with the community in case someone was interested.

That all being said. I probably wont make any edits outside of bug fixes until further notice.
- Added a DPS meter to the top of the bar
- Squashed some bugs
- Greatly increased performance (woops)

With this last update I fixed a bug that let the add-on be moved around when not visible. The add-on should now lock when the permanent option is not toggled to on.

So I just played some after finally downloading the game again and checked pretty much everything. The section of code you mention appears to be about the execution flashing border. The value that it is checking for which ends up being nil is likely the the setting for when to flash for an execution. If it is nil it means that there isn't a value set for it.

If you go to where your add-ons are installed and go up a folder or two you will find a folder called SavedVariables. Inside it you will find the IH.lua saved variables file. Open it up. Look for your account name and your character's name and you should find a variable for "ExecuteBarOffset". If that variable doesn't have anything there, that is probably the cause of the nil error.

It's kinda hard to debug things on the other end but this is likely the problem. If you don't want to go through the effort try just deleting the IH.lua file, it will reset the saved data associated with my mod. As always, also make sure that you are using the latest version of the mod and any dependencies (I think they are LibStub and LibSavedVar but it's been a while since I've done ESO modding so i can't recall).

Let me know if that helps!

Looks like the API was updated. I'll have to take a look later, I haven't played in months but I'll get on it when I can.

EDIT: Don't know if an API update broke anything else, but it doesn't appear to have broken anything in the latest version of the mod.

I was afraid of offending you with my harsh statements and very glad that this did not happen
Сonsider your addon for pvp in this case the health of the players varies 10-60 k all bar .
Agree with you should not be discomfort in pve too , then will have to share the bars on the boss is not the boss , In the standard interface, the bars differ . For boses, let the bar work as it is now, it will be noticeable and it's good.
If you have ample opportunities, then try to display сс control efects and mandatory cooldown these effects like this addon from you amazing bar , that would be visible after what time you can reapply control to the target .
Is a lot of my dream please forgive for bad english and google translator .

Hmmm, I think I get what you mean but I'm not quite sure.

I think you might not be looking at it right. It is very much intentional that the amount of ticks would vary from enemy to enemy, it's like "stuffing" more health bar into the same area. The more health they have the more the bar shrinks. It's quite common in MOBOs such as league.

Of course I'm completely open to ideas and I happen to think that an expanding size health bar would be cool! In principle it's a simple idea and it would be an easy option to implement. There's just one problem. Health scales exponentially for enemies based on danger level.

Your average wolf might have 20k health in total and your average bandit might have 25k or 30k That's not too much of a problem but take the spider queen from Spindleclutch? 300k easy. Some enemies have more. If you increased the health bar linearly when looking at a regular enemy it might be fine, but for a boss or anything with a higher danger level it would certainly go off the screen. Now you could make it logarithmic of course but that would definitely be a much harder representation that what is currently in place.

Don't take me the wrong way though. If you have an idea, I'll put it in the addon for you simple as that. A shield status indicator/bar sounds like a perfect idea! Any other status indicators you think should go into the bar?

unsatisfied

thanks for your work friend , but I do not feel comfortable using it .
for each target the number of ticks varies , ripples in the eyes and it's incomprehensible general health of target , to understand this you need to count ticks
my humble wishes :
1. take a tick = 2k ,but doo bar more or less , depending on the total amount of health .
2. Add an indication of the presence of a shield on the target and its strength .

would be the addon of my dreams , sorry for criticism, I would not want to quarrel.

Baertram, I've added a percent value which can be re positioned.

I've also added:
-Optional Execution flashing border around health bar
-More settings in the add on settings menu
-Bug fixes in moving UI elements around.
-A couple more bug fixes and performance tweaks

Right now all of the graphical components are preset XML elements because there isn't much documentation on creating add ons. I know you can create graphical components via Lua code instead of preset XML pieces but don't know how. If anybody does would you mind explaining it to me?

I don't have much modding experience (with using API's through scripts for that matter) as I've been developing games and software in C, C++, C#, Java, and Assembly my whole life. The modding area is a bit new to me .

Also if you are now wondering in your mind "Wait, if the tick markers are preset XML elements.... Does that mean all of them are coded by hand...?"

Yes... Yes they are.

Wowzer! I never really realized people like this addon! I made it simply so that I could get a good visual representation and had no idea other people would like it. But hey, since I'm playing ESO more again I might as well update the mod and do some more with it!

Nice addon, never realized it's here before. Thanks!

Any chance you could add an option to show the percentage of health into the bar as well (in the middle, above the currently shown bar, or below the current small ticks).
I love to see the visual indicators AND a % value.
I can of course add this feature! Is there anything else people were wanting?

I actually thought nobody really cared about this addon so I forgot xD. As requested you can now toggle names off.
Just want to thank you for the latest update. It is just what I requested. Thanks again. I think a lot of people care about this addon.
