Improvised Healthbar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.5
by: XiiDraco [More]
A health bar that has visual indications of amounts of health. This gives greater knowledge of how strong enemies are. Half ticks are measured in 2k, full ticks in 30k. The bar also included an adjustable execution skill indicator, flashing execution notice, different colors for types of NPC's and players, as well as resizability and movability. The health bar now includes a built in DPS meter as well.

Currently function over form. May improve visuals in the future.

Thanks to Circonian for the introduction into Addon development!

Warning: Although I'm sure ESO has it's own warnings I must say: because of flashing colors, this add on may not be suitable for people that have epilepsy.

Update — 06/17/2021: I'm not very involved in the modding/addon community and to be honest the addon needs a re-write to match current ways of doing things (I think this mod still calls on the old libstub?). It's really old and the code frankly kinda sucks.

I don't know if I'll ever get around to it though because I tend to spend my software engineering time working on games instead of writing mods/addons for them. It was originally something I wanted to make for myself and I just shared it with the community in case someone was interested.

That all being said. I probably wont make any edits outside of bug fixes until further notice.
- Added a DPS meter to the top of the bar
- Squashed some bugs
- Greatly increased performance (woops)

I just downloaded and I like it. Some options you might want are:
1. be able to resize ( make it smaller )
2. be able to move it on screen.
Or you could also comment in your LUA file how to make those changes, if that would be easier ( just a thought ).

One question, I know the RED is for health. What are the WHITE and BLUE for?

I can definitely add those options. Funny enough I actually have never made an add-on or a mod so I learned it last night and pulled this together (I indie develop games so coding comes naturally I guess). I kinda posted it up here so I could find it if I lost it.

Seeing as someone else likes the concept I think ill go full fledged and make it better!

The white is supposed to help indicate how much damage youve dealt. It slowly decays and follows the health bar to give a visualization of the damage you have dealt recently. I can make it more subtle.

As for the blue... Do you mean the background? Or did my expiremental XP bar leak through? Lol.

Thanks for this addon. But. What for is it? What is the use of it? You have already the HP bar and target indicator. Could you describe it more pls? Thank you

There are tons of healthbars and I can say that all of them look quite incredibly better than mine, however I haven't found one that has one simple feature that I was looking for. That's the little division marks on the health bar. The purpose of this addon is to be able to see visually how much health targets have. It may not seem like a big deal or even of any use, and if that's the case that's okay I don't expect everybody to find meaning in the things that I do.

Thanks

Thank you for the update. It is exactly what I was asking for.

I think your experimental XP was leaking through, now the background in grey.

I hate to ask, would it be possible to change the color from red to something else if the target is non-hostel, like a friendly NPC.

That's not a bad Idea (keep 'em coming). I'll do that after work today.

Would it be possible to add an option to not display the NPC name ( so that I can move the health bar directly below the bar at the top of the screen )

I actually thought nobody really cared about this addon so I forgot xD. As requested you can now toggle names off.

Nice addon, never realized it's here before. Thanks!

Any chance you could add an option to show the percentage of health into the bar as well (in the middle, above the currently shown bar, or below the current small ticks).
I love to see the visual indicators AND a % value.

Wowzer! I never really realized people like this addon! I made it simply so that I could get a good visual representation and had no idea other people would like it. But hey, since I'm playing ESO more again I might as well update the mod and do some more with it!

I can of course add this feature! Is there anything else people were wanting?

Baertram, I've added a percent value which can be re positioned.

I've also added:
-Optional Execution flashing border around health bar
-More settings in the add on settings menu
-Bug fixes in moving UI elements around.
-A couple more bug fixes and performance tweaks

Right now all of the graphical components are preset XML elements because there isn't much documentation on creating add ons. I know you can create graphical components via Lua code instead of preset XML pieces but don't know how. If anybody does would you mind explaining it to me?

I don't have much modding experience (with using API's through scripts for that matter) as I've been developing games and software in C, C++, C#, Java, and Assembly my whole life. The modding area is a bit new to me .

Also if you are now wondering in your mind "Wait, if the tick markers are preset XML elements.... Does that mean all of them are coded by hand...?"

Yes... Yes they are.

unsatisfied

thanks for your work friend , but I do not feel comfortable using it .
for each target the number of ticks varies , ripples in the eyes and it's incomprehensible general health of target , to understand this you need to count ticks
my humble wishes :
1. take a tick = 2k ,but doo bar more or less , depending on the total amount of health .
2. Add an indication of the presence of a shield on the target and its strength .

would be the addon of my dreams , sorry for criticism, I would not want to quarrel.
