GodSend: Slower Delay Version
Version: 3.0.4d
by: AmandaLubyk [More]
Description:
  • Addon for easily composing and sending guild mails.
  • Allows you to see the character limit, enables pausing and cancelling, and easily selecting certain ranks for mailings.

Note: This version has been edited by AmandaLubyk to significantly increase the delay between messages, so users will [hopefully] not have their accounts flagged for social bans.

IMPORTANT #1:
Please remove GodSend by Calia before installing this version.

IMPORTANT #2 (01-Nov-2023):
Over the past month or so there has been an uptick in the number of users receiving social bans after using guild mail add-ons. Initially, ZOS said to increase the time between messages - so I did - this is why I took over GodSend; so everyone could benefit from this information. However, even after increasing the time delay between messages, users are still being social banned after sending mails to all guild members.

After several days of researching, I figured out that one thing that can be causing this is guild members reporting the messages as spam. Remember, this is an automated system receiving and processing these spam reports - meaning it lacks human objectivity. It is doing what it has been programmed to do.

I attempted to get the assistance of Zenimax in the forums and was banned for 72 hours and jailed for 72 hours more, consecutively, because they do not want me talking about social bans (what they refer to as "account actions") on the forums. I was literally asking for them to help a fellow officer, who was banned after using this add-on, and to let me know what their parameters are so I can adjust the add-on to be in compliance. You can see the forum post here (heavily edited by ZOS Mods): https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/645295/unwarranted-in-game-account-actions-due-to-addons#latest

TL;DR: Use any guild mail add-on at your own risk at this point. Without ZOS clarifying parameters, so I know what people are doing to trigger them, social bans will likely continue to occur. Right now, they are not being very helpful with lifting these bans.

Be safe. Be kind. Have fun.

Regards,
Amanda

FYI - still flagged

First of all: I really appreciate this update! I noticed it was a LOT slower than the other one. That is fantastic.

An FYI however, I was still flagged by the system for a social ban. I'm a unique siltation as we have a family of 3 sibling guilds in game and so over the course of an evening, I sent out mails to all 3 guilds (350+ mails each guild) and now today I've been muted in game. So I would still urge caution if using for multiple guilds, maybe sending them out on different days or more hours apart? I'm not sure what the criteria was, is it a number in addition to the time between mails.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I have been in a state of argument with ZOS over the past 10 days over this exactly. A fellow guild member received a social ban for sending mail to two guild (after I had sent over 3,000 mails between two sister guilds over 24 hours and was fine). 10 days later he is still banned and I was forum banned and jailed because I was seeking help with it. See: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.co...-addons#latest

In the past 10 days I also discovered that guild members can report the messages as spam. If more than one report is received on the same mail, it auto-bans the sender until they contact customer service.

Something in the past month or so has changed with their auto-ban system, because I had been sending the same types of mail messages out en mass to both guilds for a very long time 1-2x per week and I also received a ban. When I got my ban cleared, the message they sent me said, "we have made a minor adjustment on your account" - which, I can only assume, marks me as a legitimate human player in a guild officer position - I have not had problem since.

The worst thing is that ZOS does not announce increased system filters and warn people that if they cannot talk/mail/trade/etc... (social banned) to contact customer service. Instead, we get nothing. This infuriates me.

A solution would be to create an ESO Add-on Dev Program, have add-on devs sign a NDA, and provide to them the information transparently so we can guide users the appropriate way when they encounter things like this.

For now, I can only encourage you to send in a ticket. Report a bug, say you are muted, cannot trade, are unable to send mail for # of days, and need their assistance to get that fixed... short, sweet, and to-the-point.

I hope that helps.

Re: Re: FYI - still flagged

a maybe easier solution would be too cross reference the @names before you send the mails, so you aren't spamming people with multiple mails in the first place.

There are only about 10-15 people in our guilds that cross over, and most are officers.

I do appreciate the suggestion though, it is a good idea. Before I make any additional changes to the add-on, I want to hear from ZeniMax about their parameters. Guild leaders and officers should be able to send mail to guild members, to communicate the details of upcoming events, without fearing social bans.

Currently the options are:
  • MotD
  • Guild-wide mail messages
  • Discord

MotD lacks because there is typically so much information contained in it. Many users struggle to be able to tell what has changed. They just want to see what is new.

Guild-wide mail messages annoy some members, though we have never had a member ask us to stop sending them mail or say they are leaving because of it.

Discord is fantastic, but many people will not use it for one reason or another.

This leaves us with having to use all 3 to be able to reach the most members.

If ZeniMax would simply highlight changed information in the MotD, I believe it would become a viable option.

Also, it is much overdue to have the ability for leadership and officers to be able to send messages. For example, if people in our trade guild have not paid monthly dues (or sold the level where dues are not needed), we assign them an at-risk rank - meaning they are to be kicked if not resolved. It would be nice to have guild rank officers be able to mail the members in that rank with a message notifying them.

GodSend enables this, however, the unwarranted social bans have just gotten out of hand lately.

Hello,
I've been playing ESO since early access and on more then one occasion, many of my Guild Master friends have found themselves getting Social Banned for mass mailings.
Let me shed some light on you about how this auto-social ban for mass mailing works.

All player accounts are allotted about 1,500 outgoing mails Per Week. If You go over that, you will be subject to a social-ban. At this moment, I do not recall when ZOS has the outgoing mail counter to reset as the reset is set for everyone at the same time. It might be 5am eastern time Monday morning but don't quote me on that.

The thing is, even if someone gets Social Banned for mass mailings, then sends in a ticket and gets unbanned, the Outgoing Mail Counter is still active. In a nutshell, getting Unbanned doesn't Reset the counter and you risk getting social banned again for just sending one mail to a friend.

In the past, You were able to call a Real Person for help and support. Tell them your side of story. Convince them that you're an important guild master and it would be devastating to your members if you couldn't interreact with them. Then, they would probably unban you and maybe put you on an amnesty list, or give you a higher Outgoing Mail Count.

So, the trick to going over the 1,500 outgoing mail count is, is to use different accounts for mass mailings and to keep an eye on how many mails you send out.

Here's a thought, I think a good addition to Godsend, Or, a stand alone Addon, is to add a weekly, Account-Wide, Outgoing Mail counter.
