The Elder Bar

The Elder Bar

This addon adds an information bar at either the top or the bottom of the screen, chocked full of information gadgets that update in real-time. The gadgets can be placed on the bar in any order and there are lots of options to configure each one. Last, but not least, the bar can also indicate when in combat.

Changes:
* Bumped up the API version. The Elder Bar is ready for Murkmire!
* Reduced the number of API calls being made, which could lower latency and increase FPS on some systems.
* Changed how the bar is centered when centered to reduce jitter.
* Currency tooltips will also now include an icon of each currency to help identify it.
* Equipped items are now run through a routine that will attempt to correct improper capitalization and trailing control characters when viewing durability and weapon charge tooltips.
Fixes:
* The combat indicator will appear at the same location as the bar, instead of always at the top of the screen.

* The combat indicator will now disappear when out of combat at the expense of a yet another cyclical API call. The indicator will also now honor the bar opacity as intended.

kills are all the player kills you participated in, no matter when you hit the other player and how much damage you did.

killing blows are when you actually hit the player with the last attack that results in him dying.
That's what I thought you meant, but I've never seen ESO track assists anywhere. I'd have to take Kill Counter apart to see how they're calculating that.

Exactly! Though, I'm not quite sure how to implement it yet. I'd really like to make all the gadgets a simple on/off switch, with the ability to move them after they're displayed. Um, you didn't request it, but I implemented the cooldown timer for fast travel. Not sure if I mentioned that already.

Anyway, still in progress! Probably be a couple of weeks before I can get the next version out. Lots of irons in the fire, lots to smooth out. Stay tuned!
would it be easier to implement the reordering with imput fields, where you type in the desired position number of every gadget and then save & reloadui?

regarding the kill counter, i personally only care about kills, deaths and killing blows (maybe kill/death ratio), but more options would of course satisfy the needs of more users.

I'd forgotten that I had originally intended the bar to be moved around, but then added options to put it at either the top of bottom of the screen instead. I really didn't know what I was doing when I started -- not sure I do even now.

So, there's two ways I can deal with this.
  1. Remove the ability to move the bar by dragging it with the mouse.
  2. Remove the option for placing the bar at either the top of bottom of the screen.

If we go with the first option, I'd need to add an option to lock the bar, and of course have it record where you dragged it to so it can restore it on reload.

If we go with the second option, you'd lose the ability to bump it around. Your OCD would kick in and there's no telling what would happen.

Now that I know, sort of, what I'm doing, I'd vote for the second option. It allows players more freedom to put the bar wherever they want. Plus, it'll give me a good warmup for another feature I've been thinking about: drag and drop reordering of gadgets.
The drag and drop functionality would be awesome, that's something i also wanted, after realizing that i had to reorder my entire bar because i forgot a gadget.

Strange, ever since I started using it which was when it was added to esoui, I've always noticed it never locked. I have limited addons actually active, none of which allow for the Elder Bar to move. Not sure what's causing it. I'll start trying to narrow down what could be causing it then. I wonder if Azurah might be doing it. Thanks.

Howdy. Which bar are you having to move? The Elder Bar always aligns itself at 0,0 when it's at the top of the screen and it doesn't have the ability (yet) to allow one to move it around. So, it should always appear at the same location every time it starts up. If you're using another addon to allow The Elder Bar to move, perhaps its not saving the location, or perhaps The Elder Bar is stomping on it at startup.
