Special Request

In order to improve the accuracy of the quests please upload your LibQuestData.lua to either my GitHub or CaptainBlagbird's DropBox. If you happen to have an old LibQuestInfo.lua file in your SavedVariables folder I am accepting those as well as long as the version in the file is version 4.

When using CaptainBlagbird's DropBox no account required / email doesn't have to be valid. You can also upload it to my GitHub by attacking a zip file to a response to LibQuestData:Github/1. Apparently there is a max file size of 10MB. 7Zip makes smaller files.

Description
Adds pins for completed and uncompleted quests to the world map. (Including not yet started quests!)
Major change: Quest Map no longer has internal quest information and instead uses LibQuestData.

Please do not submit `QuestMapScout.lua` files as the information is not formatted for what I am now collecting for quest data.

Use Minion download LibQuestData. It will be doing all the data collection from now on. Please submit new data from LibQuestData to LibQuestData:Github/1.

Requirements
To be able to use this add-on you'll need to install these libraries too:
  • LibMapPins
  • LibGPS - LibGPS
    NOTE LibGPS Requires: LibMapPing, LibDebugLogger, LibChatMessage so be sure to read the authors description page.
  • LibQuestData
These add-ons are optional:
Features
  • Uses new functions introduced in API update 6 to automatically get a list of completed quests, that means you can start using this add-on at any time/level and it will "know" which quests you have completed before.
  • Tooltip shows the quest name and additional info (Cadwell's Almanac quest, skill point reward)
  • Manually (un)hide ((un)mark as completed) quest pins by clicking on it
  • Map pin filters for completed, uncompleted, started and manually hidden quests (you can find them to the right of the map after clicking on the funnel icon)
  • Subfilters to only display Cadwell's Almanac quests and/or quests that reward skill points
  • Different map pin filter settings for PvP and PvE possible (e.g. quests not displayed in Cyrodiil but still in other zones)
  • Changable pin size and pin level
  • Languages supported: English / German / French

Commands (enter in chat input)
  • Open settings menu
    /questmap
  • Manually (un)hide all quest of the currently displayed map (zone/subzone/dungeon/etc.):
    /qm hide
    /qm unhide
  • Display list of quests for the current map:
    /qmlist *arg*
    *arg* can be 'completed', 'uncompleted', 'hidden', 'started', 'cadwell', 'skill' or empty (for last used argument)
  • Get current map and coordinates (for bug report etc.)
    /qmgetpos

Notes, Please read!
  • Make sure you install the add-on before starting up ESO, else the pin icon files may not be loaded.
  • There are quests that are missable. Yes I know that sucks, but the missable quests are only (I hope) quests that introduce you to a new region (e.g. quest "To Firsthold"), that's why it's possible to have some few unfinished quests with no related quest giver in each zone.
  • For more specific info, also see the FAQ.
  • If you want to help improve this add-on, LibQuestData automatically tracks updates for itself.

I had to delete my post that I put up in multiple languages about Minion. I was being told by other authors that my statement was incorrect and that Minion will delete the entire folder for the mod when a user updates the mod. Meaning it will not leave files behind. So any files left behind could not have happened because of Minion. This may be from the name change from LibQuestInfo to LibQuestData. Users were instructed to delete the old library and install the new one.

So please as I have requested in the past. Before posting an error. Please use Minion to reinstall the mod and all the dependencies prior to posting an error. If you manually install mods please delete and reinstall the mods as carefully as possible and use the proper folder names.

I appreciate all the people who use QuestMap and have been patient with updates I have been making. I'm still working on an overhaul of a few things but I will keep working on it bit by bit.

My current project is to attempt to eliminate duplicate pins drawn in the same location for the same quest. This is extremely difficult as there is no internal game UI function to do that. What makes this happen is that ESO has the same name for a quest but it has a different ID number. Writs are the worst for this however some quests in Cyrodiil also have this issue.

I hope you can appreciate finding an efficient way is important and therefore will take time.

As a reminder, when encountering errors please reinstall your mods first.



You can do this from Minion by right clicking each mod in your list of mods within Minion. Once you right click the mod, choose reinstall. This will ensure you have the current version and that there are no files left behind from older versions of mods.

If you manually install mods then you can rename your current Addons folder and install a mod and it's dependencies and test that one mod. If there are no errors repeat the process until you find an error. Then report the conflict with steps that an author can follow to reproduce the error.

Example of a bad error report:

I'm in Cyrodiil and I can not fast travel using the Transitus Shrines. If I disable your mod then I can. Any ideas?

Example of a good error report:

I have QuestMap and LibQuestInfo installed but I also use Ravalox' Quest Tracker. When I activate the quest tracker, then I have errors. Here is a link to the mod.

Activate QuestMap, LibQuestInfo, and Ravalox' Quest Tracker and you will have the following error

Then I can download the mod and install it and see the same error you have. Just claiming things are broken but you have it all up to date and everything is installed properly is not sufficient. When I have tried in the past, even when users provide me with their addons folder or a list of their mods, I find they do not have the current versions of everything. Once I update all their mods, everything works fine.

You can not do that because there is no in game feature to tell me that information. This has been asked and answered already. In fact it is in the FAQ.

detrimental2 asked the same question, in a way. He did not want to see quests that he can never complete, the breadcrumb quests. You do not want to see quests that you can not get yet like story quests that must be completed in a specific order.

Also Zenimax will give you the quest from one or more people. Some quests can be obtained in one of 5 locations. I didn't make the game there isn't anything I can do about that.

The same answer to detrimental2's question applies to yours. It would take me weeks to research this. The information is not concise and some of it is over 3 or more years old. It would probably take me a week of constant and consistent work per map.

I would have to do the quest on a character. There is no Java, Json, or Python script or whatever people think. None of that exists. It would take maybe 42 weeks give or take a few. However, I don't have 42 weeks of spare time. So I can adjust things when I come across them but that's about it.

These kinds of features require the most work and therefore not something I can add quickly and easily and have it function accurately. Several of the new features are this way. I don't have time to make a char and do over 2000 plus quests to collect all the data about them. Even if I did it still would not tell me the exact order to complete some quests when they are not yet available. I would have to write it all down on a notepad as I do the quests.

So some features may seem to not function properly but they will over time. That time will depend on user submissions and whether or not the data submitted is different then what I already have.

If there was a plugin like Skyrim LE/SE then I could probably get that information. However, it would take months to decode the plugin format and without a working CK it might be impossible. Zenimax does not allow us to data mine the information. Sorry.

That is pretty much the default behavior for the game. There is no specific code in LibMapPins or QuestMap that adds that. The pins inherit the game's default features. I found a way around it though. Should work differently in the current version. For what remains use the Map Filter to disable the pins.

The extra options to hide quests when you hover over a wayshrine are a nuisance. Please add a toggle to turn them off.

Authors don't have a way to mine the game data for these kinds of quality of life suggestions. I don't have a way to get what the next or previous quest is.

To contrast what I am doing now, I look at a list of map names, go to the location, enter it since it's usually a dungeon or delve, and press F2. 5 kids and other real life things I don't have much time. It has taken me almost 2 weeks to do what I am doing now and I'm about half done. The kind of feature you are requesting takes the most work. One of the last quests I looked at The Orrery of Elden Root does not have a short list of technical details and quest ID numbers.

It's still possible but even if I implement this, it will not be complete for a very long time. For me to create a char and do all the quests in a zone just to make sure I know what quests are prerequisites to others, would take me a week per map. With real life as I mentioned it took me about a week for each map to gather quests for Skyrim, Blackreach, and Summerset. I think to have this working and refined would take about 42 weeks of consistent work. I can work on it when I can but I do not feel I will have almost a years worth of spare time to refine this. All I can do is slowly work on it bit by bit.

SUGGESTION

I don't know if it's possible but a nice quality of life issue would be resolved if starter quests would be marked as completed if you've already finished the quests it directs you to. Starter quests can't be picked up after those other quests have been completed so they just stagnate on the map.

Yes, I know you can manually remove them but this is just a quality of life suggestion. Thanks.
