Idle Animations  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.5.4
by: Tierney11290, senorblackbean
Idle Animations is an addon that gives personality to your character. When sitting idle for several seconds, your character will perform an emote (animation). There are many different styles to choose from, even a Random option that cycles through all animations and a Custom option that let's you pick your own!

Additionally, there are also animations that occur after events such as leveling up, gaining a champion point, and even earning an Avenge Kill (only when not moving). These options can be turned off if desired.

~ Profiles ~
The profile definitions are found in the IdleAnimationsEmotes.lua. Feel free to modify it, just don't break the format or the game will start giving errors.
  • Adventurer - The Indiana Jones of ESO.
  • Athlete - Show everyone how fit you are!
  • Bard - Plays musical instruments.
  • Beggar - Gonna beg. Haters gonna hate.
  • Crazy - Uncle Sheo would be proud.
  • Custom - Create your own!
  • Dancer - Shut up and dance!
  • Drunk - Shouting, cheering, and falling down drunk.
  • Drunk Classy - For civil wine, cheese, and cabbage tasting parties.
  • Duchess - Tuned to work with the Personality of the same name.
  • Glutton - Lots of eating and drinking.
  • Heroic - Stand tall!
  • Jester - Tuned to work with the Personality of the same name.
  • Mage - Always practicing spells and writing down ideas.
  • Normal - Good for everybody!
  • Religious - Praying you find RNGsus.
  • Scholar - Wait, I have to write this down.
  • Telvanni - Tuned to work with the Personality of the same name.
  • Tough - Fit and ready to pound heads.
  • Zombie - Rrrawwrrr...

~ Slash Command ~
Easy access is available as:
  • /ia on - Enables the mod (if disabled).
  • /ia off - Disables the mod without needing to reload the UI.
  • /ia <profile> - Set the profile to use.
  • /iamenu - Opens the addon configuration menu.

~ KNOWN ISSUES ~
  • Weapon will unsheathe following an animation if unsheathed prior to animation (no fix due to coding limitations)
  • Sitting players may unexpectedly stand up. Again, API limitation of knowing when a player is interacting with an object in the world.

~ UPCOMING FEATURES ~
  • N/A
~ Version 1.5.4 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Fixed issue with the 'No Camera Spin' option preventing the Outfit Style preview from working.

~ Version 1.5.3 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Updated for Dragon Bones DLC.

~ Version 1.5.2 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Updated for Clockwork City DLC.
  • Added "Zombie" personality profile.
  • Added "Scholar" personality profile. I don't have it to test with unfortunately.

~ Version 1.5.1 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Added "Duchess" personality profile.
  • Camera spin option is back by popular demand. Fixed for crown sore. Basically, ripped off from "No Thank You"; props to Garkin for it.

~ Version 1.5 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Updated for the Morrowind update.
  • Added "Jester" and "Telvanni" profiles to work with the personalities of the same name.
  • Removed "AdoringFan" profile. Face it, no one used it and it was sort of a TES4 joke.
  • Removed the camera spin option. Its nice, but its a function already provided in "No Thank You", so its less code to keep up with.

~ Version 1.4.4 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Fixed the "Cannot play emote at this time" notification. If you still receive the notification, let me know
  • Removed some duplicated code that didn't actually do anything for the above notification

~ Version 1.4.3 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Fixed invisible Crown Crate Store (you can use the "Prevent Camera Spin" setting again!)
  • Somewhat fixed the "Cannot play emote at this time". The fix will work after you've demounted and for the remainder of the game session, but it will still appear at times, just less so. Implementing permanent fix in future version
  • Cleaned up some code
  • Updated year at the top of each file to align with current year
  • Changed "Idle Time" minimum setting to 5 seconds (down from 10) for more flexibility
  • Updated ReadMe.doc and License.doc to match the current year
  • Added Donation page

~ Version 1.4.2 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Update to API 100018 for Homestead Update

~ Version 1.4.1 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Update to API 100014 for Thieve's Guild DLC
  • Adjusted profiles by removing out-of-place emotes
  • Cleaned up some code
  • Updated the "ReadMe" to reflect the slash commands that were added in a previous version

~ Version 1.4.0 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Update to API 100013
  • Added two three new profiles; Adventurer, Athlete, and **Custom**
  • Cleaned up some code
  • Renamed several emotes in the menu for simplicity and comprehension
  • Updated addon images to reflect previous update changes

~ Version 1.3.0 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Update to API 100012 for Update 7.

~ Version 1.2.6 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Added "Dancer" profile. Randomly does all dance styles.
  • Expanded addon configuration menu to allow for users to disable specific emote sets within a profile, all without having to modify the Emote script. Profile and emote sets are dynamically generated, so any added emotes will be instantly supported.
  • Add option to prevent camera switching 'no spin'/'no thank you'-style to break the expected dependency.
  • First Seed cleaning of emotes table formatting.
  • Fixed a situation where, if a player is idle, then moves and emotes before the detection function runs again, the script would detect the movement but not mark the player as emoting, so it would think the player went idle and interrupt the emote.

~ Version 1.2.5 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Simplified and fixed up internal tri-state detection logic. Should be better at not interrupting your emotes.
  • Added some new emotes, added more generic variety to Heroic, Mage, Religious, and Tough sets.
  • Removed Sad profile.
  • Adjusted default timers for Animation Time from 30 to 35, Animation Pause from 5 to 0. This effectively strings emotes together without the /idle break in between to make it more fluid. You can change it back by setting Animation Pause to 5.

~ Version 1.2.4 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Added an internal check to prevent an instance where the player would could break out of the auto-emote suppression feature by emoting while stealthed.
  • Mage: Replaced long "wand" emote with a shorter version.
  • Tough: Replaced long "pushups" and "jumping jacks" emotes each with a shorter version.

~ Version 1.2.3 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Modified emoting system to not override a player's manual emotes. Once you start an emote, the IdleAnimations script won't kick in until you move again.
  • Fixed movement detection. It may take slightly longer than the default 15 seconds to start an idle animation after moving.
  • Fixed emote prehook to not do an emote when interacting with most things, such as not emoting in the middle of harvesting.
  • Removed "shove" from Tough profile. It was silly.
  • Will no longer start an animation when logging in. It will be patient.
  • Misc debugging functionality.

~ Version 1.2.2 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Fixed .zip package directory.

~ Version 1.2.1 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Added a user-defined option to disable the mod in the menu. This is also to fix it so it will remain off when changing zones or relogging.
  • Fixed when logging in as stealthed, the player would receive a nil value error for function onStealthChange.
  • Fixed so that emotes would not run when in stealth or combat. Whoopsies.
  • Added some generic emotes to Mage, Heroic, and Tough profiles to give them more variety. Will continue to tweak profiles...
  • Fixed the usage help string conflicts with font formatting. Also added a message to tell you what profile you're currently using or if the mod is disabled.

~ Version 1.2 Changes (senorblackbean) ~
  • Made some whitespace consistency and code best practices changes.
  • Revamped emotes to allow for a series of emotes to be ran instead of just one. A number denotes the millisecond offset from the beginning to run the next emote. Eg: {"/point", 3000, "/doom"}
  • "Random" is now truly random. It also makes you appear like a sociopath.
  • Old "Random" renamed as "Normal" (default) profile.
  • Moved Emotes to external file to encourage editing by anyone.
  • Added Mount and Crafting Station event handling.
  • Created different IdleAnimation() instantiation for the variable animation time and pause time.
  • Added interrupting "/idle" for giving pause between animation sets.
  • Created a list of new emote sets: AdoringFan, Bard, Beggar, Crazy, Drunk, DrunkClassy, Glutton, Heroic, Mage, some additions to Normal, Religious, Sad, Tough.
  • Added command line interface to enable/disable this mod, or to switch profiles. Use: /ia
  • Changed Event Animations from submenu to header, since its not necessary to hide the options.
  • Dropdown for Profile list is dynamically generated. All content changes just need to be done in the Emotes lua script.
  • Added animation length limit.
  • Added timer between idle animation.

~ Version 1.1 Changes (Tierney11290) ~
  • Fixed animation interruption while fishing
  • Fixed animation interruption while looting
  • Fixed animation interruption while lockpicking
  • Fixed animation interruption while harvesting
  • Removed Idle Animation while Stealthed
  • Changed default Idle Animation time to 15 seconds
  • Added slider to change Idle Animation time
  • Added "Reload UI" button to accommodate for above feature
  • Included feature to allow manual emotes to override the Idle Animations
  • Cleaned up some code

~ Version 1.0 (Tierney11290) ~

Exclamation "Impatient" Missing From "Profile: Custom"

"Impatient" isn't under Custom. Could you add it, please? Thank you in advance.

Animations with Unsheathed Weapons

Could there be a toggle option in the settings that allows you to choose if the animations show when you have an unsheathed weapon or not? Personally I would prefer it if they did not trigger. If my character has a weapon drawn it is because danger is near and they are prepared for whatever comes, it would be an odd time for them to decide to sheathe said weapon to juggle flames or do jumping-jacks.
Other than that I am loooooving this addon, it makes my character so much more dynamic (and I don't even role-play xD).

Then add memento emote to idle animations.
Can you explain me how to do this please? I added emote /armor but see no way to include it in any Idle Animations profile.
Trying to figure this out too

Thank you. I really enjoy this addon. I haven't seen it in the configuration but is there an option to add your own slash commands (other than editing the Lua), please?

Causing issue with dye stamps

I love this add-on, thanks! However I was having an issue where I couldn't apply dye stamps to equipped costumes and after much troubleshooting it appears this add-on was the culprit.

Rather large amount of the emotes I can see in the mod settings don't exist at all. Like "juggleflamewrite". I don't understand. Where are these supposedly from?

Thanks for the heads up! I'm not sure what Dye Stamps are, but I'll research it. For the mean time, can you try doing /ia off when working with Dye Stamps? When you do, does the function for Dye Stamps work all right? If so, that would be a good temporary solution until we look at it further. Thanks!
The way I understand it, the general consensus is that it interferes because of the mod stopping the character from turning around when you open a menu. If nothing else, it's a place to start?

Dye stamps are how you dye a costume without ESO+. They come in a few color sets and are like 100 crowns, except for the one you get leveling up.
Makes sense, thanks for the tip. I'll see about looking into it.

That would actually be a good feature to add, but we never thought about it! We'll see what we can do.

As for multiple custom profiles, this might be possible but could take some time to add.

I'll see what I can do about adding more emotes, but if I remember correctly, this was a limitation with LAM (the in-game addon menu) and not with the addon itself.

I didn't even know crown crates had emotes! Same as above though, I'll see about adding them.
