Social Status
Version: 1.20.1
by: Binary Heart [More]
Social Status
------------------------------------------------------
Version: 1.20.1
APIVersion: 100024
Authors: Alyka & BinaryHeart

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allows you to log into Elder Scrolls Online with a defined Social Status:
Online;
Away From Keyboard;
Do Not Disturb;
Offline.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Options
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Social Status' options are in the AddonSettings menu:
Main Menu > Settings > Addon Settings > Social Status
There are two options that can be set:

Account Social Status (defaults to Online)
Online
Away From Keyboard
Do Not Disturb
Offline
Each time you log into Elder Scrolls Online your Social Status will be set to this option, unless you've chosen to override it for the character you've logged on as. Changing this option on any character will affect the Social Status you logon with for ALL characters whose Social Status is set to Account.

Current Character's Social Status (defaults to Account)
Online
Away From Keyboard
Do Not Disturb
Offline
Account
Provides a means to override Account Social Status whenever you log onto the character you changed this setting on. A value of Account, which is the default value, will log you on with the option chosen for Account Social Status.

Fix activity bug (defaults to OFF)
ON
OFF
If you're disconnected from the server because of inactivity while you appear offline, there's a miniscule chance you'll end up in a broken state on rosters when you log back in (showing at the top guild and friend lists as offline, without any character and last online time equal to the amount of time you've been logged on). This chance is significantly greater if you timeout from the character select. When you end up in this state and this option is set to ON, Social Status will attempt to fix this and put you back in a proper offline state. When it works, you'll show as having been offline since you last set your status to online and on that character. Around half of the time it won't work and you'll briefly appear online, which is why this is turned off as default.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slash Commands
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can enter the following slash commands into the chat box to set your Social Status:
/online - Social Status = Online
/afk - Toggle your Social Status between [Away From Keyboard\previous Social Status before afk toggled]
/dnd - Social Status = Do Not Disturb
/offine - Social Status = Offline
To check your Social Status without opening your Social Panel (Zeni default keybinding O):
/socialstatus
/ss
To quickly navigate to the Options menu:
/sso
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extract archive to your Elder Scrolls Online Addons folder:
On Windows: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\<version>\AddOns
On Mac: ~/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/<version>/AddOns (or get a Windows PC =P )
Replace <version> with "live" if you're playing on the NA server and "liveeu" if you're on the EU server (without quotations).

On Windows, <username> is the user profile you log onto Windows with
e.g. My Windows path would be: C:\Users\Fran\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu\AddOns
Ingame, go to your SETTINGS > ADD-ONS menu and ensure Social Status is checkedHave fun! =)

Special thanks

To the authors of LAM2 (license in SocialStatus\Lib\LibAddonMenu-2.0) and LibStub.
To Alyka for encouraging me to finally polish/release this. Now you've made a mod too =)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Updates
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
v1.20.1
Bumped version from 1.10 to 1.20, meaning your options will reset to defaults (Account offline, each character to use account value);
Reworked how internal variables are set. These now update on EVENT_PLAYER_STATUS_CHANGED. Hopefully, this now means the end of being listed at the top of guild
rosters and friend lists as offline and without a last character played when you log in and out correctly;
Added an option in settings for the other ocassion on which the above can occur - logging back in after you
were previously disconnected for inactivity. This new option will allow you to fix this error, but could see
you briefly appear online. As such, it is disabled as default;
Removed some incorrect references to PLAYER_STATUS_AFK. These have been renamed to PLAYER_STATUS_AWAY, which is the correct Zeni global that flags an away status;
In the spirit of this mod, Account social status' default value is now Offline.

v1.10.2
Tweaked slightly to reduce chances of appearing at the top of guild lists without a last character or time played. This can still occur on after a hard quit i.e. when the client crashes, or when you alt-f4 or click close (when windowed). However, this state only occurs for you. All other guild members and friends see the last character/time you were last in a visible state on.

v1.10.1
updated manifest version for Summerset;
updated LAM2 library;
removed a lot of code that tried to work around limitations in how ESO server handled changes in online status. Zeni has improved (fixed?) their servers, resulting in a lower mod footprint and the elimination of a bug (one that was intentionally left in as a trade-off for the ability to always appear offline). Touch Bosmer - this mod now acts as if it were a native feature/no longer bugs out Zeni's server.

v1.01
changed ReadMe.txt to ReadMe.rtf to stop it appearing in the ADD-ONS list ingame.

Code:
[10:11:05] [LAM2] The panel with id 'LAMSocialStatusSettings' was registered before addon loading has completed. This might break the AddOn Settings menu.
Any suggestions regarding the above are appreciated!
Apologies for my late reply.

That error's a result of me being naughty. IIRC (it's a long time since I made this), I registered the AddOn before the point you're supposed to register them. That was to catch situations where you crash out while logged as online, but log back onto a character you set to be offline. That's also why you sometimes get the bug whereby the name of the last character you were logged on is blank.

Back when I wrote this, ESO crashed out often and it was a trade-off used to keep you hidden. I can't remember when I last crashed out, so I'll make a version that removes this behaviour.

tldr; If you crash out often and don't want to log back in as online, there's not much that can be done and you'll have to live with this error. Otherwise, watch this space for a new version.
Ok, should be fixed. Wasn't getting this bug on my local version, but I was able to recreate it by downloading the version hosted here. The LAM2 library needed updating (must've done that at some point on my local version).

Status invisible?

Hi there,

Great addon. I like that it logs me on as offline but I was wondering if it was also possible to have an invisible status, so you show as offline even if you are not?

I have no idea about coding, so not sure if this is possible or not.

Thanks for making and sharing this addon.

Cheers,

Sisqi

It's slightly different in that you have a saved value for the status you wish to log on with for your account, with saved overrides for each individual character (if you decide to set them in options). This saved status will be set irrespective of the status you logged out with. The other mod remembers your social status for each character on logout and resets it on every login.

When you log back into the first character, you'll have a good chance of showing as being offline, but there's a chance you'll show as online and then immediately going offline. I used to do it the same way in my mod as in this mod, but there were notable occasions since launch when this method failed for me.
They do seem very similar, but the fundamental difference is that my mod tries its hardest to protect someone who wishes to appear offline from being exposed as ever having been online. I use it to log in always offline. From there, I can decide if I want to appear online or not. If I do and I then log out without changing my status to offline, I'll still log on offline the next time.

I hope it makes sense?
That's great, thanks for the detailed description!

Perhaps I'll add it to this mod, too. I've got an update for it coming that further protects people who wish to appear offline, so might squeeze it in there. Otherwise, see mod below. It'll do that =D

It's for people who like to logon always as offline, no matter their status when they logged off. I do, but I often forget to change my status to offline when I log off. Why is this important to me? Sometimes I just want to avoid of all the PMs I get whenever I log in. I hope half of the population understands that need

The red/yellow modes are just extra options. I won't use them, but you never know what someone will find useful.
