Nog's Simple Crafting Tooltip  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.3
by: Nogaruk [More]
This is a simple AddOn to show your currently equipped items in a tooltip window while crafting at a smithing, woodworking, or clothier station. You can now, optionally, show the window at the Enchanting station as well.

There is an icon to select what equipment slot you want to show the tooltip for. The window will only stay open while in an appropriate station.

- In-game you can use slash commands to turn the window on or off for the enchanting station. It should store this option for all characters.
Type "/nsct" or "/nsct help", without the quotes, to get a listing of the commands in your chat window.
Type "/nsct on" or "/nsct true" to show the tooltip window at the Enchanting station
Type "/nsct off" or "/nsct false" to hide the tooltip window at the Enchanting station

This is an alpha build basically. I'm still working on trying to automate the showing of the items, but wanted something that worked to hold over while I figure out how to access the tooltip data.

Post 1.2.3 patch

Is the author still updating this plugin? It is throwing up errors after the 1.2.whatever patch when opening the crafting window, but if the author isn't around I won't bother posting them here.

Sorry Baertram, but I have not been able to reproduce this at a smithing, clothing, nor woodworking station, yet.

Can you give me some more information please.
- What addons do you have installed?
- Does this happen every time?
- A screenshot might help if at all possible.

I am running at 1920x1080, fullscreen. My addon stays exactly where I move it, even after closing and opening the station screen.

Hi Nogaruk,

thanks for this addon. it really helps a lot.
But 1 thing is annoying:

If you are in the craft station and choose the "Destruction" tab for example, you click on an item you want to destruct. The tooltip of the currently worn item appears in the middle.
I move the tooltip (the one appearing from your addon) more to the left, so I'm able to really compare the items. So I finally decide to keep the item, and click on the next one to compare.
Your tooltip will appear right in the middle again :-( Not at the position, where I moved it before.
It sometimes is above the original tooltip this way and you cannot see the different items.

Please implement a fix, so the tooltips from your addon will appear at the position again, where the user moves it to! Thanks a lot.

Regards
Baertram

@Xirael
Thank you. Yes, my entire goal from the beginning was to just add comparative tooltips into the crafting stations. However, that is easier said than done. My todo list is still to automate the process so it will at least act like a regular tooltip.
I did have minor success with turning comparative tooltips on. The main problem, though, is ZOS has something silly going on in the crafting stations that keeps turning them off. Then of course you have to know every single object you want to turn it on for. So I made this for now.

Nice add-on. I was getting tired of switching back from crafting to inventory screen to see whether I better use an item or deconstruct it (This would not be necessary if ZOS had created a simple proven MMO UI concept, but anyway...).

But one question: did you think about just adding an additional tool tip to the one that already exists when hovering over an item in the crafting menu? Like item compare in the inventory screen? This way you would not need an additional window at all.
Or did I misunderstand you and that was your goal from the start?

@Moosetrax
Thank you, I'll see if I can fix that for the next update.

@Sunhead
I'll throw that onto the TODO list. See if I can add an option for it in settings.

Genius

Could you make it show up in the Enchanting interface too?
If I am making new Glyphs I would like to be able to see what I have already.

Great idea, thanks!

One minor thing though, your ReadMe is showing up as a mod in the AddOns list because of it's .txt extension. Thought you would want to know.
