BETA CHANNEL DISCONTINUED

We decided to close this Beta-Channel. All further updates of BeamMeUp will only be released on the official channel here:
Official BeamMeUp Channel

Thank you all for participating in our Beta program. Your bug reports and suggestions helped a lot to develop this awesome addon. Of course, we will continue improving BeamMeUp and we will also develop new features. However, due to the maturity of our addon after 8 months, we decided to close and to delete this Beta channel.

If you use Minion as Addon Manager, you simplay can uninstall BeamMeUp Beta version (without deleting the savedVars) and then install the official BeamMeUp version.

The latest and last Beta version released on this channel includes a reminder mechanism to push you to switch to the official channel. This channel here will be maintained until June 10. After that we will delete this Beta channel!

STRANGE ISSUES

When you switch from Beta to main channel and you got some LUA errors (which were not there before), please try the following, before you post here:
  1. If you are using Minion: Uninstall the Beta version (without deleting the savedVars)
  2. Go into addon folder (/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/AddOns) and make sure, that the "BeamMeUp" folder is deleted
  3. Then go back to Minion and install the main addon

By this you have a clean install and hopefully this will solve any strange issues, which occurs by switching the channel.

As you can see, we are closing/not further updating the Beta-Channel in the future. But of course we are still updating on our final/official channel you can find here.

Thank you for all your support, bug reporting and of course help with translations and coding, to make a quite stable addon with a solid base.

Because its additional work and we started a second project to update a very useful addon, we decided to stop this Beta and just make further updates in the official addon instead of bundled and beta-tested updates like we did till now.

As the addon is using LibZones for the different translated zoneNames, which again depends on LibSlashCommander, you'll find the lib loaded either way @Phinix

Re: Re: Suggestion...

@DeadSoon,

No worries friend it is no trouble really, and on further use the ability to select specific command actions with description text is really pretty cool.

I keep finding new things I like about this addon all the time. Currently the sort by favorite zone followed by zone name is my favorite as it keeps Rawl'kha, Stormhaven, etc. at the top and then alphabetizes the rest. I also really like the "gold saved" feature and the highlighting of targets from your friend list.

Overall a really nice piece of work with great attention to detail!

My main suggestion however is to eliminate the inclusion of LibSlashCommander or add a way to disable it's chat auto completion which is a huge pain when trying to work on addons as every /script or other command I enter pops up a ton of messy suggestions over the chat window which I am trying to watch for debug text.

It looks like you are only using it to add slash commands to your addon. It is possible to do this on your own without this library by simply adding declarations somewhere in your addon file (I usually put them at the bottom of my main file) in the following format:

Code:
SLASH_COMMANDS['/command1'] = SomeFunction
SLASH_COMMANDS['/command2'] = function(option) SomeOtherFunction(option) end
The first example just runs the SomeFunction without any options and ignores any options entered. The 2nd example will take a single option and pass it to the function SomeOtherFunction. So for example in your addon for the "LSC:Register("/bmu/debug", function(option) Teleporter.sc_toggleDebugMode() end, "Enable debug mode")" entry you could instead use this:

Code:
SLASH_COMMANDS['/bmu'] = function(option) Teleporter.sc_toggleDebugMode() end
Typing "/bmudebug" would send any text following a space after the command to the Teleporter.sc_toggleDebugMode() function.

Thanks for your work on this cool addon. The zone unlock feature for wayshrines is particularly clever and helpful.
Hey Phinix,

thank you for your feedback! We will consider adding of separators for sort sections.

However, Im aware of the way you described to add SlashCommands. I did this in the past before using the LibSlashCommander library. I moved to LibSlashCommander because it supports additional info text beside the auto completion, which is very helpful.

Nevertheless, in both ways of implementation I provide auto completion. In the way you described simply by adding the following command:
Code:
-- refresh slash commands cache
SLASH_COMMAND_AUTO_COMPLETE:InvalidateSlashCommandCache()
So, Im not sure how removing LibSlashCommander should solve your problem with the auto completion. Furthermore Im not sure if there is a simple possibility to toggle (on/off) the auto completion (LibSlashCommander provides a function to disable auto completion for a specific command but I would have to do it for each command seperately, which is not practicable).

If you know another way, please let me know.

NEW FEATURES IN 1.4.4

Hey Guys,

it is time to push new features. We already received many requests for more sorting options. The up-coming version 1.4.4 will bring these sorting options and the first beta is already released.

As you can see and test on your own, 1.4.4 comes with several sorting options. We want you to participate in the early stages of development of this version by asking for your feedback

The following questions are of interest to us:

1. Can you find all sortings, that are relevant to you or do you miss a certain one? (Maybe we can add it to the list )

2. Which sorting do you personally prefer?

Here a short description of the sortings:
  • zone name
    • just sorted by the name of the zone (A -> Z)
  • zone category > zone name
    • sorted by the types of zones (Overland zones, Public Dungeons, Delves, without Category, 12 men Dungeons, 4 men Dungeons, Group Zones (Craglorn), Houses)
    • inside of the category it is sorted by the zone names (A -> Z)
  • frequently used > zone name
    • sorted by the zones you ported mostly (the counters are not visible)
    • zones with the same counters are sorted by the zone names (A -> Z)
  • frequently used > zone category > zone name
    • sorted by the zones you ported mostly (the counters are not visible)
    • zones with the same counters are sorted by the type of zone
    • if the zones have the same counter and same type, then it is sorted by the zone names (A -> Z)
  • number players > zone name
    • sorted by the number of players that are in the zone
    • zones with the same number of players are sorted by the zone name (A -> Z)
    • this sorting could be interesting in case of events and new zones

We are looking forward to your feedback

There is no problem in Japanese environment

As far as I tested, there is no problem with the operation in the Japanese version ESO for now.

It is nice to be even more convenient.

I hadn't reinstalled anything yesterday or today yet today when I start up the game I get no error with both addons on and I'm not really sure why. I haven't done anything different, I don't see any updates in the Minion log and I haven't updated anything manually, either. I restarted the game three times and each time your mod was on at the same time as the minimap mod it did that. I have no idea what happened but every time I start up the game now with the addons active at the same time it works perfectly normally.

I sincerely apologize about the apparently bad report. Everything I did yesterday indicated it was something your addon had done to the minimap addon as the error was only thrown when your addon was on at the same time as the minimap addon and your addon had been the only thing that had changed fairly recently at the time. Yesterday they both worked fine when one of them was off, your addon worked fine the entire time, yet whenever I turned your addon on with the minimap the minimap just freaked out and stopped displaying at all.

Thank you for looking into this and your time on it. I'm sorry for bothering you with what apparently was an isolated and temporary issue.

Glad it works for you again. Had some similar issues with other addons in the past as well. Don't mind if you report a possible bug to quickly.

Upon initial load of ESO:

user:/AddOns/MiniMap/MiniMap.lua:2365: operator < is not supported for number < nil
stack traceback:
user:/AddOns/MiniMap/MiniMap.lua:2365: in function 'FyrMM.MeasureDistance'

|caaaaaa<Locals> eventCode = 65536, addOnName = "MiniMap" </Locals>|r

Secondly, upon trying to access the Minimap addons menu:

user:/AddOns/MiniMap/MiniMap.lua:702: attempt to index a nil value
stack traceback:
user:/AddOns/MiniMap/MiniMap.lua:702: in function 'FyrMM.OpenSettingsPanel'
Fyr_MM_Settings_Clicked:2: in function '(main chunk)'
|caaaaaa<Locals> self = ud, button = 1, ctrl = false, alt = false, shift = false, command = false </Locals>|r

Your mod was the only one that I updated today and I last updated it two days ago with Beta 06, so the errors occured either in the Beta 07 or Beta 08 versions, I can't say for certain as I went from 06 directly to 08 in my update today.

Both errors are copy-pasted from the game's error window, upon disabling your mod the minimap mod functions properly and no errors are thrown out. I understand that you cannot support every single mod and that compatibility issues will arise, especially in beta-builds, that sort of thing is totally understandable and if this is something that cannot be rectified on your end for any particular reason I, again, understand.

I am simply bringing this to your attention as your most recent update is what is causing the error. I don't know anything about modding, so I have no idea if the above information is of any value to you at all. Thank you for your work on BMU and the beta version here and I definitely appreciate all of the time and effort you've put into this addon and its ever-increasing list of related features.
Hey symmas,

thanks for reporting your issue. In any case it is really helpful to know if there are any incompatibilities with other addons or any bug in our addon. So we are thankful for any report and of course, if it is possible to solve it on our site, we want to do so.

Now to your specific issue:
I couldn't reproduce this problem either. As Gamer1986PAN already suggested, try to reinstall both addons. Also disable BeamMeUp to see if the error really only occurs when you are running both addons together. Furthermore I see in the error log no indicators how our addon is involved in this issue.

Hopefully your problem solves itself.

Thank you for your report, but i do use Minimap by Fyrakin as well (so you can be quite sure every update is well tested most of the time with Fyrakin) and i dont have any of those errors. Was it just once (if so it maybe just was a memory problem) or does these errors occurs all the time? If so please try to reinstall BeamMeUp and Minimap by Fyrakin maybe Minion messed some things up.

As you requested we added both features. Looking forward to your feedback.

Every quest will be displayed. But it will not ignore your black-listing settings. With the new Beta you should see Cyrodiil as an separate record (Quest names in its tooltip) anyway. Depending on your setting "Hide PVP zones" the records will be white with a wayshrine or drak red without a wayshrine.

Nevertheless we think about to hide the wayshrine button generally for zones you can definitively not port to.
