I often have trouble trying to find that little white arrow in the visual overload of colors, explosions, aoe effects, UI, etc. This is an attempt to make those quest markers much more obvious. This currently changes the floating in-world icons, compass icons, and map icons.

Options
  • Show the in-world CQM icons and show the default icons on the compass and maps.
  • Resize the in-world icons anywhere between 32x32 to 96x96.
  • Color options. Aqua, blue, fuchsia, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, teal, vanilla, and yellow.
** Changes to the compass and map icons will only happen after reloading the game. Changes to the in-world icons (theme or size) will happen immediately.

1.9 2019-04-15: API bump for Elsweyr.

1.8 2019-03-23:

1.7 2019-03-18:
1. Old School Theme: Added ? icons for the zone story quest icons. Thank you to NTak for the idea!

1.6 2019-02-25:
1. Added zone story quest icons for Wrathstone.

1.5 2019-02-23: Added in some "Old School" quest markers. They look better at 64x64 and I put them together pretty quickly so they're not perfect but it was for fun.

1.4 2019-02-23:
1. Added options menu. Use slash command /cqm.
2. Added option to only show the in-world CQM icons and show the default icons on the compass and maps.
3. Added option to resize the in-world icons anywhere between 32x32 to 96x96.
4. Added an initial 13 color options. Aqua, blue, fuchsia, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, teal, vanilla, and yellow. I included vanilla as well. Use this "theme" to use the default ESO icons if you just want to resize the icons.
** Changes to the compass and map icons will only happen after reloading the game. Changes to the in-world icons (theme or size) will happen immediately.

1.3 2019-02-20:
1. API bump for Wrathstone.

1.2 2019-02-18: Corrected a scope mistake which was causing the compass textures to not load.

1.1 2019-02-18: A couple small fixes. I realized I still had some bit referencing PointsofColor. I'm having trouble with none of my compass icons appearing now but others say they appear normally so I'm not sure if it's just me or something wrong with CQM yet.

1.0 2019-02-18: Initial release.

If you see an error with ConspicuousQuestMarkers that looks something like this.
Code:
/EsoUI/Libraries/Utility/ZO_SavedVars.lua:284: operator < is not supported for string < number
|rstack traceback:
/EsoUI/Libraries/Utility/ZO_SavedVars.lua:284: in function 'CreateExposedInterface'
/EsoUI/Libraries/Utility/ZO_SavedVars.lua:181: in function 'GetNewSavedVars'
(tail call): ?
user:/AddOns/LibSavedVars/LibSavedVars.lua:423: in function 'ZO_SavedVars:NewAccountWide'
user:/AddOns/ConspicuousQuestMarkers/ConspicuousQuestMarkers.lua:84: in function 'cqm.OnAddOnLoaded'
Exit the game to resolve this.

Either manually delete your SavedVariables file ConspicuousQuestMarkers.lua or you can use Minion to uninstall ConspicuousQuestMarkers and use the checkbox to delete the saved variables file. Then when you reinstall ConspicuousQuestMarkers with Minion the game should create a new file and everything will work as intended.

EDIT: 04-19-22: A fix has been added so that ZO_SavedVars won't error when it encounters the old ADDON_VERSION stored as a string for the SavedVariables.

I am not the original author and didn't write any of the code. It's all ZOS functionality anyway.

When you uninstall any addon like this that replaces the textures you have to do so while the game is closed. Either you use Minion or manually uninstall the addon. I have not seen the need to do anything else such as deleting the shader cache but that may be necessary.

As for the rant, use your original account and don't make a new one solely for the purpose of using that kind of language. You just look like an idiot anyway. Use proper language and ask politely.

After you uninstall and if the effects were persistent then that's not something ZOS or myself would be able to resolve anyway. Sometimes OneDrive has a copy of the mod in addition to the default location. Many people do not realize they have OneDrive installed or active and it will take over the MyDocuments folder in ways that could restore the mod files you are trying to uninstall if OneDrive feels something is out of sync.

I had errors as well after updating.

Exited the game completely and uninstalled the addon using Minion 'ticking' the 'Delete saved variables' option.

To err on the side of caution I double checked the 'SavedVariables' folder for the 'ConspicuousQuestMarkers.lua' file; it had indeed been deleted.

I installed the addon again via Minion, launched the game and the addon is since behaving as expected.

@Borndrake65

I think everybody is really used to just posting questions whenever something updates but nothing has changed about this mod at all.

The changes that were made were to address an issue where somebody had mentioned that every time one of the mods updates that the settings are reverted to the default values. They mentioned that the behavior was kind of disruptive.

I haven't changed anything about the mod at all.

I mention to people frequently that I can't really troubleshoot people's game because I don't know what mods you have installed, what might be going on with your hard drive or SSD or, if you have Google drive or OneDrive or a cloud service I don't know.

I don't normally have to use them but I believe there are troubleshooting posts in the forums. From what little I could see in that screenshot that isn't what conspicuous Quest markers does anyway that seems like it's destinations.

Sorry I can't be of more help but users have to troubleshoot the things they install I can't really help with that.

So let's be specific... the easiest solution is to uninstall CQM while out of the game, delete the saved variables, and then reinstall while out of the game (which does resolve the issue).

Fortunately CQM's settings are account wide
Yes as the post mentioned, exit the game to resolve this. Specifically as mentioned. You can't do this while in game.
After uninstalling WITHOUT Reinstalling, Colored Questmarkers still there. I also tried to uninstall AUI/Map pins/ DARK UI, Colored Questmarkers still there

after uninstalling everything it looks like this

https://postimg.cc/zyW8mjVL

I am wondering whats wrong

Delete the saved variables. The ZOS routine didn't like having the mods version number in it. That's not my code that's their code. You won't have to do this again in the future since I use a whole number now like they expect. And it won't reset every update.

Deleting the saved variables was successful for me and the addon is now working normally.

I prefer not to be contacted via personal messages. Normally the comments section is sufficient. Also for future reference, I don't mind suggestions or feature requests but because I started working with Bethesda back in 2012 I have adopted a bit of a different way of handling feature requests. Once made I consider it and if I find a way and when I find time then I just do it. I dislike being asked more then once or reminded every few months. If I delete the request then I typically won't do it however, sometimes I figure out a way and do it anyway. I'm sorry about that, it's just the way it is.

Othienka, the way to go about this for now is to make a pull request at the GitHub repo and let me look at it. In order to include the changes you would need to provide the .dds files and the Lua alterations that make it a separate package of icons that won't override existing icons. All without interfering with the current functionality for the existing packages of icons.
