Displays a panel on the HUD that shows the current writs and how many are completed.
The writ panel:
  • can be collapsed to show only the number of writs completed and total.
  • can be minimized to a small arrow icon.
  • hides in pvp zones, dungeons, and when in combat.
  • moves out of the way of the group list.
  • if in a group of more than 4, it auto collapses.


Displays a panel while in a crafting station you have a writ for.

The Craft panel:
  • all items listed to be crafted and acquired.
  • for provisioning, enchanting, alchemy, it shows the ingredients needed and corresponding amount of each on hand. ingredient shows in red if you do not have enough of the item needed.
  • for provisioning and alchemy, "Craft for Writ" button replaces "Craft" button when a writ is active with recipe\s needing to be crafted. "Craft for Writ" button will craft per amount needed based on skill.
  • for Smithing stations, "Craft for Writ" button replaces "Craft" button when a smithing writ is active with items needing to be crafted. "Craft for Writ" button will craft all items per amount needed using the style material based on...
    ... with the highest quantity if enabled in the settings, or the currently selected style material.
  • for enchanting, automatically adds the runes to the crafting boxes
  • for alchemy, automatically adds the solvent and reagents to the crafting boxes.
    if there are multiple recipes for the potion\poison, those recipes can be selected via left\right (< >) buttons on the writ panel (or the shoulder buttons on a gamepad).
    multiple recipes are sorted by reagent stock on hand(default), selected preference(in settings), or by average Tamriel Trade Centre price (must have TTC addon and have price list updated)
    cycling through the recipes will also change the crafting slots to reflect the selected recipe.
If items needed for a consumable writ and/or "Acquire" items are stored in the bank, those items will be added to a list to be auto-withdrawn on next bank interaction. This is to make it easy to store additional crafted items in the bank to use for later crafting writs.

The "Easy Alchemy" addition allows crafting by reagent traits.
adds 4 horizontal lists.

Trait1 is a list of all current traits.
Trait2 is a list of traits that produce a result with Trait1
Trait3 is a list of traits that produce a result with Trait1 and Trait2
Can rapidly scroll thru them suing the mouse wheel

There is a delay while it "searches" for a result with the selected traits when a selection is changed.
This is do to to searching for all possible reagent combinations for the selected traits.
You can save alchemy recipes created with Easy Alchemy for later use from the Saved Recipes tab.

Easy Alchemy works with the writ panel the same way alchemy writs do, as stated above.
Easy Alchemy can be disabled in settings.

Thank you for letting my know.

useMostStyle defaulting to false. I think that is due to moving the declaring of the defaults out of "IJAWH = {". I had already moved them back in my editing copy. All the "auto" options are set to false tho. I did this to prevent possible unwanted function for new users.

I think I see the issue with smithing while not having useMostStyle turned on. It is using a base function to get the first known style. I thought that would be sufficient. Now I am worried about what happens if there are no mats for that style. I'm creating a function to use instead that will cycle thru the styles and return the first one that is known and has enough material to craft the item/s. The final function will be determined by how much it impacts the game while searching. I think the scan will be small enough to not be noticeable but, it will have to do it for each item.

Smithing is a tough one due to all the variable factors.
First it needs the "pattern"( gauntlets, gloves, dagger, sword...)
Then the style is based on what you know. Is the current style known for dagger?

I'd have it figure all that out upon getting the writs like it does for consumables, but the pattern sets are determined by the currently used crafting station.

Hit a bug while attempting a jewelry crafting writ after completely reinstalling writhelper.

there's a possibility in Smithing.lua:171 to hit a nullpointer due to styleListIndex being nil. This can be the case when a user does not have useMostStyle turned on (which seems to default to false). In the else clause of getStyleIndex only one value is returned on line 104 which should also be returning styleListIndex back again.

I was super confused for a bit after the full reinstall as nothing seemed to work but eventually I figured out I had just not turned all the nice features on

There's a function Zos added for addon devs to use to check if an item meets the needs for a quest. DoesItemLinkFulfillJournalQuestCondition()
However, that function was what was causing the issue with provisioning. I removed it and created my own to compare what the writ calls for.
A bit late, but I just reported this as a bug.
Now only smithing is using DoesItemLinkFulfillJournalQuestCondition(). It seems to be working fine for it.

I truly appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to help. To be honest, I am learning this as I go.
As for as testing to see what is causing an issue, mostly that requires adding debug lines, in-line, to capture what is getting thru and send it to chat.

I would not have expected the writs to be different per faction . if more are encountered, what can we do to make your life easier? is there a bit of script we can run to get more info on the quests?

I recently found out that Lemon Floured Mazte is tier 1 writ for DC alliance. So I recently made a DC character so I can get this fixed. It will be determined based on when I actually get that writ as a daily now.

PS. turns out the friend mistook the freeze for a crash. Once I got that cleared up I had a place too look.

Your latest update fixed the issue I was now getting on multiple characters, thank you very much! I can now happily enjoy doing writs the lazy way again!

Could you explain the issues that taking a writ causes? Is it just that using a crafting station with a writ crashes and without it does not?
Using a crafting station with a writ is/was causing this. I'd get logged out with an error which I of course did not note down... Also, sorry... realising that you mentioned your friend having a full game crash which might not be the same

I have 4 crafters with only 1 with the crashing bug.
character which has had crashing stats:
  • lvl 50 nightblade
  • alchemy: 12
  • blacksmithing: 8
  • clothing: 8
  • enchanting: 8
  • jewelry: 6
  • provisioning: 10
  • woodworking: 10

Went through these steps to test further:
  • Still having the clothier writ that crashed me 2 days ago, I can interact with all of the stations except for the cloth crafting station without fuss. Today it only freezes my game for half a minute instead of crashing.
  • Added the blacksmithing writ, quicker game freeze, no crash
  • added woodworking, quicker game freeze, no crash
  • added jewelry crafting, quicker game freeze, no crash
  • added everything else, provisioner, enchanting and alchemy works without any freezing
  • swapped character and went back to the character with the issue, no game crashing, still freezing for half a minute though.
  • stressed my system in the highly unlikely event that last time it crashed due to not having enough resources. No crash happened

Sooo.... The excess game freezing is still only on this character, others have max a 1 second freeze but hey, at least I'm not crashing anymore!

P.S. screenshot attached for the lemon flowered Mazte(heh, I misremembered the name) bug, current workaround of just making a bunch of em works :P

Thank you for letting me know. I need to do some research then, about what in an addon can cause the game to crash. The problem with figuring this out is the game does not record anything about the crash.

What may help is knowing all details about your crafting levels for each character, which ones it crashes on, what stations it crashes on.

Could you explain the issues that taking a writ causes? Is it just that using a crafting station with a writ crashes and without it does not?

The friend I mentioned that gets the crashes has also told me about the issue with "Lemon flavoured Mazte". Unfortunately, I have yet to get that writ in order to debug it. I assume it is caused by the "name" it is given for use by functions. Had the same issue with poisons with (-) used for spaces. ( Savagery(-)Draining Poison)

I'm having this issue on a character as well. Updating and clearing the saved variables did nothing, I also have never had the PTS client installed.
Tried debugging a bit but I haven't found anything REALLY useful, removing all writs helped of course but picking up any writ would then screw it up again. I'm a bit suprised ZoS doesn't kill addons before they can crash the game...
I have issues where on 1 character it will never craft the blacksmithing writ (lvl 50 writ), there's also an issue with writs asking for Lemon flavoured Mazte where I think the code eventually just gets back a recipe for only "Mazte" which is wrong, thought maybe these things were part of it but probably not!

If you want me to test some things I'll gladly help, the addon is amazing and I very much want it to keep succeeding

What I'm working on

I'm still working on some changes.

I am currently working on adding the ability to save alchemy recipes for EasyAlchemy.
It adds:
  • a new button to the crafting scene for saving the currently selected recipe based on traits selected.
  • a new list to the alchemy station called "Saved Recipes" (Alchemy, Furniture, Saved Recipes).
Selecting a saved recipe instantly adds it to the Craft panel and reagent recipe list, similar to how it is done for writs.
It seams to be working for gamepad mode, but having issues getting the list to work for keyboard mode.

A friend experiences full game crashes on certain characters when interacting with crafting stations.
We have not determine what causes this. One suspect is from installing the Public Test Server client.

The Isjusta Gamepad Inventory Update you have is likely due to when I uploaded it to the writ helper by mistake. You can just delete that one if you do not use gamepad mode.
I have the same bug....
have you updated to latest ?
make shure you did.

im not shure if its random anymore acctualy or an addon but it seems fixed for me

[EDIT:] make shure you have updated all addons
in case for an easy way to do this would be using **minion**
i think it could be possible that another one had intervened till it got updated

I have not located the cause of the auto crafting not completing without reasons yet.

Reasons would be something like, out of space or materials.

However, while writing the above i thought of this.
How much style material do you have?
What are the top 5 styles you have the most of? name and amounts.

It should not be able to change to a style material you do not have.
