Master Writ Inventory Marker (WritWorthy Extension)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 4.0.2
by: code65536 [More]
This addon will add a marker to the master writs in your bag, bank, guild stores, and mail attachments, to indicate which writs can be completed.

WritWorthy, which this addon relies on, will indicate on a master writ's item tooltip whether or not your character has the requisite knowledge to complete that writ, but when scanning through a long list of writs in your bag, bank, guild stores, or mail attachments, it is a bit cumbersome to examine each writ's tooltip individually, which is why this addon was created.

Indicator markers
  • Green Check: WritWorthy has completed crafting for this master writ.
    • The appearance of this marker requires WritWorthy.
  • Yellow Check: This master writ can be crafted by the current character, but it has not yet been crafted.
    • The appearance of this marker requires WritWorthy.
  • Red X: This is a blacksmithing, clothier, or woodworking master writ that requires a motif that your main crafter character does not know.
    • This marker does not require WritWorthy, and is useful for when you are logged onto a non-crafter alt who might not have WritWorthy enabled.
    • Players can specify who their main crafter character is (or disable this marker entirely) in the addon settings panel; by default, it is the character with the highest priority in LibCharacterKnowledge.
These are just the default colors; they can be changed via the addon's settings panel.

Additional Inventory Management Tweaks

To help players better manage master writs in their inventory, this addon improves the functionality of two of the columns in the inventory view.
  • Trait Information column: This is the small unlabeled column just to the left of the Value column. Normally, this column is unused for master writs. Now, sorting by this column will sort master writs by their set name, so it's easier to retrieve a set of master writs whose stations are closely located inside alphabetically-sorted crafting houses.
  • Value column: Normally, this column just shows 0 gold for every master writ, which is not very useful. Now, this column will instead show the voucher value of master writs and can be used to sort master writs by their voucher value.
Both of these tweaks can be disabled via the addon's settings panel. WritWorthy is not required.

Advanced Filters

For players with the Advanced Filters addon installed, this addon will add a custom filter plugin to filter for doable and completed master writs.

Dependencies

Required:
Recommended/Optional:
  • Version 4.0.2 (2023/08/28)
    • The character selection in the settings UI is now scrollable

  • Version 4.0.1 (2022/06/10)
    • Addressed an issue that may cause the item marker to not appear for guild store listings for some players

  • Version 4.0.0 (2022/05/03)
    • Improved the in-game inventory window to be more useful for managing master writs; the following features are controlled by the "Enable additional inventory management tweaks" setting
      • Selecting the Trait Information sort column (the small unlabeled column to the left of the Value column) will now sort master writs by set name
      • The Value column, which uselessly shows 0g for every master writ, will now instead show the voucher value of master writs and can be used to sort master writs by voucher value in your inventory

  • Version 3.1.0 (2022/04/30)
    • Added an option to require that there be sufficient materials before a writ can be marked as doable; by default, this option is disabled and writs are marked as doable with no consideration of the player's material stock

  • Version 3.0.0 (2022/04/29)
    • Master writs that require a motif unknown by your main crafter (by default, this is the character with the highest priority in LibCharacterKnowledge, but it can be manually changed in the settings panel for this addon) will now be marked with a red "X" marker
    • The marker image has been changed in an effort to improve visual clarity
    • The colors of the markers can now be customized in the addon settings panel
    • WritWorthy is now an optional dependency, rather than a required one (it is still required for marking writs as doable or completed); this enables the use of the new unknown motif marker feature on non-crafter characters that might not have WritWorthy enabled
    • LibCharacterKnowledge is now a required dependency (it is already required by WritWorthy, so this is not really a new requirement)

  • Version 2.0.1 (2021/06/01)
    • API version bump for Update 30 (Blackwood)

  • Version 2.0.0 (2021/03/28)
    • Master writs that have been completed by WritWorthy will now be marked by a blue marker
    • For players with the Advanced Filters addon installed, there is now a custom filter plugin to filter for doable and completed master writs

  • Version 1.1.2 (2021/03/08)
    • API version bump for Update 29 (Flames of Ambition)

  • Version 1.1.1 (2021/01/16)
    • The marker will now use a private copy of the quest marker texture to avoid conflicts with other addons that modify this in-game texture

  • Version 1.1.0 (2021/01/15)
    • Added support for mail attachments

  • Version 1.0.0 (2021/01/05)
    • Initial version

Incorrect display of items in Russian. This error does not appear immediately, but if you point several times at a sealed order in the inventory.
Unfortunately, I don't have an "attach attachment" button

Possible to add color indicator for high-value mats?

I just installed this add-on today and I really like it. I was wondering if it's possible to add another color setting for writs that require high-value mats, like potent/fortified nirn or perfect roe? Although I may know the recipe or motif, I'd rather not craft writs that require high-value and rare mats. Nirn is hard to come by with farming right now, and it's pricey on the guild stores.

Thank you!

My fault. ziggr made WW, of course. For whatever reason I confused you. I should have asked him. And perhaps it makes most sense to integrate WW into Dustman, like it is integrated into AGS.

I thought WW already has this feature? Or maybe it's Lazy Writ Crafter? Either way, whenever I'm turning in master writs, the dialogue portion with Rolis is already automatic.
Yes, but only the dialogue itself. If you do eg. 50 master writs you have to open your inventory 50 times, accept one quest, talk to Rolis. It's fantastic that we can do it this way instead of how Zenimax intended it. But it is boring However, again: I should have asked ziggr (or Dolgubon)

Sorry, I do not plan to add a feature like this. The first reason is that I don't buy or sell things in the game; I don't have any pricing addons and don't have pricing data, so this is a feature that I personally wouldn't use and it would be difficult for me to test it due to the lack of pricing data. I'm also extremely wary about destroying items, since it's non-reversible, and if there is some mistake (either due to my error or perhaps due to bad pricing data), then it's an irreversible mistake.

auto-dialogue with Rolis Hlaalu (up to max XP before the server kicks me and I have to move a little(

It's "Current character" in the drop-down. It was originally just "Current", but it was later renamed to "Current character" for clarity and I had forgotten that I had done that when I wrote that post.

"Current character" will show a red "X" on any equipment motif that is not doable by the current character due to motif knowledge. And as you have seen, "Disabled" just gets rid of the red "X" entirely.

I would suggest that you take a look at the settings panel for the addon. There, you will find options in the drop-down that are called "Disabled" (turn that feature off completely) and "Current" (whichever character is currently logged on).
For what it might be worth, I did examine the ESC > Settings > Addons page displayed by the game client for Master Writ Inventory Marker before I wrote the OP.

As shown on the referenced image (below), there is a "Disabled" option on the dropdown in the Motif Knowledge section. I have not been able to find any option labeled "Current" anywhere on the Settings panel. The image is for version 3.1.0:

https://imgur.com/a/IPiPBBm

The settings that are displayed in the above image result in showing a marker for each Sealed Master Writ which the character that I am currently playing is able to craft. They include the Equipment writ(s) for which the character knows the corresponding Style Motif. The marker is a circle with a checkmark which is the color set for "Doable". No marker is shown for an Equipment Sealed Master Writ if the character does not know the required Style Motif (i.e., a circle with an "X" colored red is not displayed).

The outcome shown for the settings is fine with me. I hope that further development will not change that in any material way. Thank-you for your time and attention to this matter.

the new sort feature is awesome. Thanks!

feature ideas (for WW or this extension):

auto-delete (or mark as trash) for writs that writ vouches costs exceeds a definable value (eg. jewelry writs with 2000g per vouches)

auto-dialogue with Rolis Hlaalu (up to max XP before the server kicks me and I have to move a little(

Hi code65536,

This might be a niche request, but I tend to save master writs until a holiday event and will utilize the event's 100% experience bonus plus a 150% experience scroll to either level a character, level all of their skill lines and morphs, and/or just get as much experience as possible to level my overall CP.

When I have 200+ clothing, woodworking, and/or blacksmithing writs banked, my main crafting character cannot hold all the writs plus the resultant crafted items so I need to withdraw the writs in smaller chunks. The act of visiting 20+ scattered crafting stations in a large crafting hall can be time consuming especially if you could have pulled out all the writs for a specific set of tables. I was wondering if there is a way to label and sort the craftable writs by motif number so that I can withdraw specific writs from within a similar crafting area in a crafting hall (if that makes sense)?

TL;DR is a request to add a feature to label/sort craftable master writs by motif number so that you can withdraw master writs that would likely use the same set of crafting tables in a large crafting hall.

Thanks for your time and assistance!

Currently, I have 6 characters who are certified to craft Sealed Master Crafting Writs (SMCWs) for each of the 7 crafts, respectively. However, none of them know every equipment Style Motif that exists in the game, and some Style Motifs are not known to any of my characters. When I began playing TESO 7+ years ago, the cost of the documents required to learn a Style Motif was lower, and the increase in the number of Styles as the game grew was slower. So, about 10 - 16 Styles were learned by every crafter, and the rest were learned by 2 or 3, or sometimes 4, of the crafters. I did this because Bethesda has been known to entirely trash the game state for a specific character, but rarely for every currently existing character which a player has created. Spreading Style Motif knowledge among multiple crafters lessens the potential of a catastrophic loss.

However, since the Elsweyr chapter was released, an increasing number of Style Motifs have been learned by only one of the six characters (but not all of them by the same character, of course). It has become too costly to obtain multiple copies of the Motif documents for more than one character to use, thus to learn. There are other add-ons that tell me which characters know the Style required for a specific equipment SMCW.

Frankly, all I really need is a marker that flags each Sealed Master Crafting Writ which requires a Style Motif that the character which I am currently playing has learned. No marker means the character does not know the required Style for an equipment writ. So it is easy to either withdraw or deposit a SMCW accordingly. No problem!

So, why are you making these changes? Personally, I have been quite satisifed with Master Writ Inventory Marker without them. So, I am a bit mystified and alarmed as to why you are changing its features in ways that seem likely to make it make it less useful to me.

Most people do have a main crafter, and most people are getting master writs on characters who will never craft a master writ. This feature and its enablement by default is targeted at a pain point that affect most players. But, yes, "most" is not "all", and there will be exceptions, such as your case, which is why those options exist.

That said, I suppose I should have made explicit mention on the addon page that disabling is one of the available options; I had assumed that people would find it easily enough since I do mention that there are settings available.

Question Changes to MWIM

From the change log for version 3.0.0:
Master writs that require a motif unknown by your main crafter (by default, this is the character with the highest priority in LibCharacterKnowledge, but it can be manually changed in the settings panel for this addon) will now be marked with a red "X" marker.
Let's shorten this to

Hi code65536,
Is it possible to have a switch in the options to choose between doable and doable now (have all mats) for the yellow marker?
It is easily doable by modifying the code I posted below.
Have a nice day!
