Проєкт української локалізації неофіційний Український переклад для The Elder Scrolls Online
Ukrainian Localization Project unofficial Ukrainian translation for The Elder Scrolls Online

Опис / Description

Greetings, dear friends! First of all, the idea was that a lot of game developers don't pay attention to the audience in my country, therefore, due to the fact that I have experience, opportunities, time and the idea itself, I, as a player, decided on my own initiative and with the help of my team, to translate the game, which has a lot of text (dialogue, interface, etc). Currently, the translation of not only the UI is being developed, since the project has been alive for more than 2 months, we are reaching a new level and starting to actively (if possible) translate and adapt proper nouns, items, locations, etc. The project is ambitious, so in the future it can become a full-fledged translation of our favorite game The Elder Scrolls Online.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀So join in, any help would be great!

Слава Україні! Glory to Ukraine!
Героям слава! Glory to the Heroes!

Patches that will help adapt the translation for add-on's:
UA Patch for Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter;
UA Patch for Tamriel Trade Centre
;

With the support of partners and friends Celestial Buddies

Project and changes are also available on Github

The status of our localization, and general activities during these months...

UK:

EN:

Hello to everyone who is interested in our localization.
The last reports were local in the Ukrainian guild communities./

Due to the constant shelling of our civilian and energy infrastructure, at this stage our localization is going at a very slow pace, we are frozen on the past update with "Lost Depths" and have not updated it to the latest version of "Firesong" and the coming ones.

As for how my team lives and how we live now, each of us Ukrainians is going through these days hard, we have not gone anywhere, this localization is still under development. The status of our localization temporarily slows down, in general, the activity during these months slows down... To be honest, it's very difficult to play at such a time, and even more so to translate all this, I'm not a pro in my business, this is a fan amateur project, and all the donations, I on my own initiative and with the permission of my friends (they wanted to keep these donations on me) transferred everything to the "Come Back Alive" foundation, thank you for your understanding and support us!

Maybe you could help to somehow correct the situation and explain how in general to use layers of own fonts for writing and other things in the game so that it would be like Ukrainian folklore

I understood what was meant, I am so grateful for this clarified references and help!
There will still be time and not a single attempt to use a different font for this game, but currently in the process of developing a localization.

I will be honest, I don't see a reason to do it now, I was wrong when I said about the symbols not being displayed correctly, if in the process of testing find a glitch or something, I will refer to your message and will read carefully to find a solution to this problem.
Likewise, I believe that everything goes its own way and does not need to change the present.

And again, after reading your message, I apologize for using your time so impolitely.
I didn't want to prove until that, so that you perceived it that way, I hope everything is fine, and I did not offend you. :>

Hello.
I tried the e-ukraine font files you put in your Dropbox. I was able to open them on my pc. Thank you so much.

I understand your desire to use these fonts in EsoUA.
So I would like to explain how the fonts are handled in ESOUI.

In my earlier comment on esoui font faces, I mentioned fontstrings, which defines where the font files are located.

For example, MEDIUM_FONT is a special string constant whose value is "EsoUI/Common/Fonts/Univers57.otf".
To refer to the value of MEDIUM_FONT, write code like $(MEDIUM_FONT).

In ESOUI, many font objects are defined in the following files in the form of referencing fontstrings.
- keyboard font
- gamepad font
These font objects may be changed or added or deleted with each future version of ESO.

I am not familiar with unofficial language mods.
However, the following threads should be a technical reference for anyone who creates an unofficial language mod that includes their own fonts.
I believe the thread is a discussion of the development process of the RuESO add-on. Please read it over and over to understand.

By perusing the thread, you will generally understand the following current status regarding the method of replacing fonts with custom fonts.
(1) It would be extremely easy to work with if we could replace the fontstrings values with our own font file paths. But there is no way to do that.
(2) For glyphs that are not included in the font file specified by fontstrings, we can specify a fallback font by defining a backup font file. However, glyphs included in the font file will not be replaced, of course.
(3) There is a method to override the value of the font object.
For this, you can find the footprints at the beginning of ru_client.str of RuESO v24.1 in the days of unofficial language mod.
For example, you can create the following statement for all ZoFont**** and add it to ua_client.str.
Code:
[Font:ZoFontWinH1] = "UkrainianScrollsOnline/fonts-ua/e-Ukraine/e-Ukraine-Bold.otf"
Unfortunately, this is not enough.
(4) It is known that in ESOUI's vanilla code, font object names are not always used when specifying fonts. For example, in tooltipstyles.lua, there are places where fontstrings is referenced. You would have to replace the value of fontstrings with your own font file name for all the places where fontstrings is referenced, because you cannot replace the value of fontstrings. This will be tough work.

I am only here to ask you a technical question to update the LibMediaProvider add-on. My business is done.
I do not know if the content of this comment is helpful to you.
I wish you the best of luck with your add-on.

BTW, you can see here the font linking for the font faces used in ESO.
From this, it appears that the glyphs of the Ukrainian alphabet are in the fallback font.
To give you a hint, I recently discovered that only ANTIQUE_FONT does not contain some of the Cyrillic glyphs for Ukrainian.

So, could you please paste here an example of one of the Ukrainian strings you say is not displayed correctly?

Hello! There is native Ukrainian support for symbols from the developers themselves, but it is not displayed correctly in the context of all the text in the chat or in the game, some symbols climbed outside the chat window or made the picture worse, here you probably need to ask Sharlikran's, as it was in EsoKR, because It seems that all these points were immediately inserted from there, there is such a code in the repository:

xml Code:
  1. <GuiXml>
  2.     <!-- Optional backup font settings for Chinese language mode. -->
  3.     <!-- These backup fonts will be used in place of the missing glyphs in the original font -->
  4.     <BackupFont originalFont="$(MEDIUM_FONT)" backupFont="UkrainianScrollsOnline/fonts-ua/e-Ukraine-Medium.otf"/>
  5.     <BackupFont originalFont="$(BOLD_FONT)" backupFont="UkrainianScrollsOnline/fonts-ua/e-Ukraine-Bold.otf"/>
  6.     <BackupFont originalFont="$(CHAT_FONT)" backupFont="UkrainianScrollsOnline/fonts-ua/e-Ukraine-Light.otf"/>
  7.     <BackupFont originalFont="$(GAMEPAD_BOLD_FONT)" backupFont="UkrainianScrollsOnline/fonts-ua/e-Ukraine-Bold.otf"/>
  8.     <BackupFont originalFont="$(GAMEPAD_LIGHT_FONT)" backupFont="UkrainianScrollsOnline/e-Ukraine-Light.otf"/>
  9.     <BackupFont originalFont="$(GAMEPAD_MEDIUM_FONT)" backupFont="UkrainianScrollsOnline/fonts-ua/e-Ukraine-Medium.otf"/>
  10.
  11. </GuiXml>

I can answer this. So the official two letter designation is UA for the language. If you want to support the Ukrainian language just add that.

The reason for the UT files are for the translators only. When you see {{39619172-0-9428:}}Drink when using the UT files that is from ut.lang and it is from the 900,000+ lines of game strings. Which covers quest text from the NPCs, zone names, quest names, and much more. If you see {C:5493}Назва that is from the file ut_client.str and {P:613}Грати if from ut_pregame.str.

UT is simply a mode for translating. Users would not use that for normal play. It is not a compatibility mode for fonts.

Korean uses KR for the language and KB for the tags files. Same concept, KB is only for translators and KR is for normal play that users would use. C = Client and P = Pregame.

Basically once the game switches to UA using SetCVar("language.2", "ua") then the game looks for various files. The three files the mod uses are, ua.lang, ua_client.str, and ua_pregame.str.

Greetings!

There are some changes and differences, thanks to Sharlikran, tags were made *(ut), thanks to which can navigate about the interface and internal gamedata of the game
To be correct, for example..
[SI_INVENTORY_SORT_TYPE_NAME] = "Назва" in ua_client.str
[SI_INVENTORY_SORT_TYPE_NAME] = "{C:5493}Назва" in ut_client.str
The same applies with..
[SI_CHARACTER_SELECT_GAMEPAD_PLAY] = "Грати" in ua_pregame.str
[SI_CHARACTER_SELECT_GAMEPAD_PLAY] = "{P:613}Грати" in ut_pregame.str
And..
Drink in ua.lang
{{39619172-0-9428:}}Drink in ut.lang
Of course, i will usually recommend a player to play without tags.
this is done with Sharlikran's help, to make it easier to understand whats happening in the text

I'm happy to inform you that LibMediaProvider will support EsoUA in future versions because listed as an unofficial language mode in the custom language section of the ESOUI Wiki.

If your addon adds more language tags than ua please add them to the list and describe what the difference is, thank you.
Greetings!

There are some changes and differences, thanks to Sharlikran, tags were made *(ut), thanks to which can navigate about the interface and internal gamedata of the game
To be correct, for example..
[SI_INVENTORY_SORT_TYPE_NAME] = "Назва" in ua_client.str
[SI_INVENTORY_SORT_TYPE_NAME] = "{C:5493}Назва" in ut_client.str
The same applies with..
[SI_CHARACTER_SELECT_GAMEPAD_PLAY] = "Грати" in ua_pregame.str
[SI_CHARACTER_SELECT_GAMEPAD_PLAY] = "{P:613}Грати" in ut_pregame.str
And..
Drink in ua.lang
