Update: Now with interactive options menu and PvE mode.

MarcelovskiMarkers automatically places a target marker on an enemy player whenever you use a previously specified ability. All players in your group can see the marker even without this addon.

This greatly improves group coordination in PvP scenarios as it is a lot easier to just see the target than having a name called out. A PvE mode is available too, in which case the markers are placed on NPCs and not on enemy players.

As a default, Poison Injection places a skull marker whenever used, but this can easily be changed in the options menu. Additionally, you can use the chat-commands listed below. Any number of skills can be assigned.

Commands
  • "/mama help": Shows a list of all commands.
  • "/mama bars": Prints the IDs of all slotted abilities.
  • "/mama add <ID>": Add an ability to place target markers whenever it is used.
  • "/mama remove <ID>": Stop an ability from placing markers when used.
  • "/mama remove all": Stop all abilities from placing markers (defaults to Poison Injection).
  • "/mama marker <1-8>": Choose one of the 8 available target markers to be used. (See Screenshot)
  • "/mama skills": Lists all skills that currently place markers when used.

Notes
In rare cases, a marker can be placed on the wrong target due to limitations in the addon API. Such markers will be removed automatically whenever the enemy is looked at.
If multiple people in your group use the same marker type, they will overwrite each other.
Saved skills are per character, not accountwide.

This is my first addon, so if anything doesn't work as intended please tell me!

- Added options menu showing slotted ability IDs, with fields to edit marker abilities and symbol selection dropdown.
- Added PvE mode, might need some further tweaking in the future.
- Slightly improved placements.
- Known issue: Changing marker symbol in the middle of a BG might lead to no more markers being placed.

Hey, I'd like to suggest a small modification. It appears that if you have this addon enabled, it will automatically remove the addon-specified target marker if it is placed manually by other players, this becomes an issue in Trials if someone else is trying to mark specific enemies. I'd suggest that you change this behavior slightly to ignore markers placed by other players unless you enable some sort of "raid lead mode".
Love the addon by the way, it's been very useful!

Totally correct on that.

The markers can only be applied to yourself if not looking at someone else.
And updating markers at any target only works if you move the crosshair above a target

Hey, as far as I know these things are not possible, as a marker can only be placed with the addon API when you directly look at the target. So updating markers based on timings is not possible, as it would require to constantly look at the target. The only exception would be completely removing the marker from any target by quickly placing it on yourself and then immediately removing it again. However, my knowledge on addons is very limited, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello! The addon is really good and quite convenient. Only it still needs some improvement Because sometimes instead of enemies, the marker is placed on the players of the group or on the players of my alliance!

I wondered how fast you added the markers when we did some resources together a while ago.

I even told my group about it and wondered if there is an addon for this, but didnt found any.

Now i see it by chance in the "recently updaded" section


it has the potential to become a must-have for the leader in groups soon
