TrueExploration

Until now you've had some magical atlas with a map for every zone, dungeon and even the daedric planes. Not anymore! With this addon, you have to "draw" your own maps.
Each map will start as an empty piece of paper, but as you travel and explore tamriel, your character will draw everything he/she sees.

This Addon is usefull for exploration fans and completionists, who don't want the exact locations revealed as in Destinations.

This addon is compatible with AUI's minimap and Votan's minimap.

Chat commands (should be used while the world map is opened):
/tedebug 1 activates debug mode
/tedebug 0 deactivates debug mode
While in debug mode, you can "draw" the map with your mouse. left mouse button to discover an area, right button to "forget" it again.

/discover completely discovers the currently displayed map.
/undiscover removed the previously set discovered flag.
/clearmap completely clears the saved data for currently displayed map.

Additionally the view radius and the opaqueness of the undiscovered texture can be set in the addon's menu.
ESC -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> TrueExploration

Fantastic addon, it really makes dungeons feel different. You actually "explore" them, rather than just "following the GPS".

Sadly it seems pretty broken for me
Probably because of dependency issues. Half the time it forgets an already explored map, or shows an unexplored map as 100% explored.

Please test with only this addon enabled
Please describe the problem you got wth more detail and how I'm able to reproduce this with this addon enabled, in steps from login to the problem (e.g. login, port to zone A, open map, you see ..., move to wayshrine, port to other zone's wayshrine, open map, you see ..., port to other zone, open map, you still see map of zone A and not B etc.).

Please install LibDebugLogger and DebugLogViewer. Go to addon settings->DebugLogViewer->LibDebugLogger and enable "Stack trace".
Enable "debug" as the debug logging depth so I can see debug messges of the addons.
Reload the UI.

Open the DebugLogViewer UI (there should be the small UI at the bottom right and with the "gear" icon you can switch to the big viewer).
At the top left chaneg to "Only current UI reload" to only see the current last UI reload info filtered and not all since you have logegd in (session).

Scroll up and check if any red error messages are shown?
Any error message ingame that shows upon addon loading?

Then try to get to the problem/error again.

If so please click the "Show more" checkbox at the bottom left of that error message and post the complete error message text here.
AND: Do a reloadui after the error so the file /live/SavedVariables/LibDebugLogger.lua is written to the disk properly.

After upload click on "Upload" button at the right, then on "Share link". Send me the link to the file so I can look at it myseld AND please add teh date and time the error messages happened so I can find them in the file.

Transfer explored map to new PC

Hi there. I got a new computer and I was wondering how I could transfer my settings and current map exploration progress from my old PC to the new one. I tried copying some files but it didnít seem to work.

Edit: I have discovered how to backup and transfer map exploration progress and settings both by per account and per character. I have also discovered how to MERGE settings between two separate files.

My case example: I had two computers and two accounts. I wanted to take my map exploration progress from Computer-2 and transfer it over to Computer-1. Problem is Computer-1 has my partnerís addon files already established. So I had to read the .lua files from Computer-2 in a program called Notepad++. I then *carefully* copy-pasted information over and spliced it into the pre-existing files on Computer-1. It works and is very cool.

If you mess up then when you log in, the game will notify you of an error. I highly recommend backing up your .lua files before modifying in case of errors so that you can revert changes and try again. Worked for me.

In case anyone picks this up for updates

It looks like at least for now this beautiful, amazing, awesome add on may be unmaintained.

But if anyone decides to tinker with it, I would love an option to have high vantage points (lighthouses, mountains) reveal more territory.

Completely removes your Player Pin on the map.
Makes it impossible to hover over yourself and see your name on map.
Removes the flashing of your currently location if you have the "VOTAN'S MAP PIN COLORS" addon with option Show Player Pin : OFF

can we please get an option for it to draw on the highest map layer so it covers up all map pins that are in unexplored areas? it feels so weird having a blank map with no details but yet showing exactly where every town, dungeon, and questgiver is without me ever having been anywhere near them. its even worse if you have extra pin mods like skyshards and lorebooks.

Suggestion: allow enabling/disabling the addon (and maybe different discovery radiuses) for different environments:
- overland
- cities
- interior maps (dungeons etc)

I like the addon a lot when exploring dungeons etc, but find it annoying in towns and cities.

It'd be nice if there was an option to change the layer of the opaque texture covering the map so that pins in unexplored parts of the map don't show on top. Is that possible?

Thanks a lot for this wonderful addon. Never had so much fun before while exploring all Tamriel.

One question though, would it be possible to change the color of the unexplored area within the lua file? Saw some color codes there, but not sure what they are meant for.
