Please backup your SavedVariables regularly. Logout of the game before doing this! pChat will update and support server dependent settings + histories!
The SavedVariables backup reminder will remind you once a week and after APIversion changes, and can be disabled in the Backup settings submenu. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Version 10.0.2.0 - 2021-06-19 -Changed the SavedVariables to Server dependent ones: Means NA and EU server will save different settings and histories now. Your current "non-server dependent" settings will be automatically copied to the server you login (NA, EU, PTS). On-screen and chat messages, as well as LibDebugLogger messages (in the DebugLogViewer UI if you use this) will show you what was migrated and as it finished (2 automatic reloadUIs should happen during the migration process). Attention: You are able to delete the non-server dependent (old) SavedVariables, to clean up the SV file size and decrease the loading times, by using the chat slag command /pchatdeleteoldsv BUT: Do NOT use this command before having logged in to ALL of the servers you play on! These non-server dependent settings are used as the copy base for the different servers. Copying SV from e.g. server NA to EU is not possible! So FIRST login to each server you play on, enable pChat and the dependencies, watch the screen for the migration messages and the reloaduis until it says finished. After having migrated all servers you can use the slash command to delete the old SV file contents. !READ THIS FIRST PLEASE, BEFORE SENDING NEW BUGs! Ignoring this post and links in this post here will result in non-answered comments or even deleted comments! HowTo report bugs/error messages properly [Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors] Be sure to read the "known bugs" and "incompatibility" list inside this sticky comment here first (further down!). This might already fix your problems. After this click the link "Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors" below and follow the information how to correctly report a bug here. If you send in a comment about an error message or found bug, please always include the following information: Read this first: [Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors] Especially the sections "lua error messages" and "How to report a lua error message/a bug to the developers" Main points to check and report here:
Known incompatiblity with other addons Library "libChat2" was removed from this addon. -> Please delete it, and all other "libChat" occurences (watch the lower l as first character! Do not delete LibChat* libraries like LibChatMessage!). Also LibGardfield counts as libChat and needs to be deinstalled! -> from your AddOns and subfolders, as they are non-functional anymore since 2019 and cause errors and problems with many other chat related addons. Known bugs:
Beta version https://github.com/Baertram/pChat/ar...at_guildId.zip Attention: After opening the ZIP archive be sure to ONLY extract the subfolder "pChat" in the the folder "pChat-pChat_guildId". Do not extract the whole folders into your /live/AddOns directory! Your live/AddOns dir must look like this afterwards: Code:
/Elder Scrolls Online/live/AddOns/pChat/pChat.txt Other chat addons FCOChatTabBrain: Auto switch multiple chat tabs upon incoming messges, remember last chat channel at each tab, automatically change chat channels to last incoming one upon pressing <chat start> (RETURN) key, redirect whisper messages, play sound notifications on messages (keywords, friends, group, leaders, guilds), auto switch to group, and many more features.

Do you guys also see any error message at logon, in this line?
user:/AddOns/pChat/Settings.lua:2228: attempt to index a nil value Someone else, also new to pCaht said, he gets this error first and after that, as he tries to type, the error user:/AddOns/pChat/pChat.lua:169: attempt to index a nil value is shown. Edit: I think I found the problem. Please update to version 10.0.2.2, it hopefully witll fix this problem for you guys (new pChat users, having no settings to migrate yet).

I got this error too. Here are the more details. I'm a new user of the pChat addon, so I may have done something wrong?

-Does this happen with only pChat enabled as well?
-Did you update pCaht to the newest version and did the migration of the SavedVariables work properly -> Chat and onscreen messages should have told you it worked and you are able to delete the old SV data via the chat command /pchatdeleteoldsv now (if you do not need it any further for another server)? Unfortunately your error message is missing the details (checkbox at the bottom left of the error message needs to be enabled and then copy the text of the total error message, containing the detail variable names and states, here). If you get it again I'd be glad to get the total drtailed error message. I'm not able to get this error message. Seems your chat settings are somehow broken. You could try to disable, and maybe re-enable later, the settings for "Switch channel using arrow keys" and see if this fixes it? Alse please logout and restore an older SavedVariables file which pChat was telling you to backup since a few weeks (I hope you did this). Login again and the SVs should be migrated to the new server SVs automatically again. Hopefully the settings then work properly.

Re: pChat baertram 10.0.1.5
Don't panic, relax, and just backup
Seems every simple change and reminder is starting a wave of anger and fear in our days ![]() It's so annoying if an attempt to help ends in such weird postings. It's just a reminder, an attempt to help you keep your addon settings. Either do it or not, it's up 2 you guys. Reason: Just read the changelog and the description regularly and you'd know why I'm asking for to backup regularly! It's in the changelong and description since months already (upcoming changes with server dependent SVs to support different guilds at different servers, and different histories) but asking guild mates etc. I noticed hardly anyone seems to be reading this before an addon update... They auto update via Minion or just press "Update all". ![]() That's why I have added a reminder ingame just to make sure you guys backup your files regularly and at least got a backup in case my upcoming changes break something. Cuz then you'll scream again that you have lost your data (like several addon users did already in the past simply because they DO/DID NOT BACKUP their data regularly ).I know it is too late if it shows ingame! That's the reason why it is written in the description, changelog, comments, sticky post, forums since months already I simply cannot show it to you as the ESO launcher launches e.g. as addons cannot do this ![]() But neverthelesse where it is shown and when: You ALWAYS should backup your SV before patches and before a login (that's an unwritten rule since 2014)! As you already backup other addons as you wrote you seem to know it so why do you raise the finger here that the info ingame is too late? It's a "reminder" no "auto backup"...
You must answer this yourself. It's not my duty to keep your addon settings backuped so you can re-use them if anything goes wrong. I only point with my finger to you guys to do the backup so you simply GOT the files to go back IF something happens. Maybe you realized the game client is instable at the moment and often crashes. You could end with corrupted SavedVariables, so the backup would help. Either you backup your files, or not. It's the same like with any other software. Example: If your Windows breaks and you got no backup, Microsoft won't help you to get your data back ![]() Maybe just copy the whole "live/SavedVariables" folder like I do, so you got ALL addon's settings backed up. Even less work, more safety ![]() That's all, quick and reliable. The following questions got nothing to do with SavedVariables backups, but I'll answer it as well to cure your fears ![]() About your file sizes: I'm not sure why you get into that detail here, just ignore the file sizes... The different file sizes can be explained by several reasons. More/less chat messages, the history was cleaning up data older than the maximum save time, etc. SV are never the same size like before last /reloadui or logout. About your libraries: I'm also not sure why you name libraries here? They got NOTHING to do with any backup! I'm not talking about the backup of any addon files, I talk about the addon settings files, the SavedVariables. The link shown in the popup ingame explains you what they are: https://www.esoui.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9235 About the versioning: This also got nothing to do with any backup! But well, here is an explanation: "in version 93 or higher!" means inside the libraries txt file there is the tag ## AddOnVersion: <number> This is the version the ingame addon manager uses to detect newer and older versions and it will always load the highest number (only). So if the number will be 93 or e.g. 00093 or higher the depending addon (here: pChat) can be enabled: If not, and the dependency is not optional, it cannot be enabled and you need to update the library to that mentioned version. All explained here: https://www.esoui.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9149 And more technically here: https://wiki.esoui.com/Libraries

Instead, I pressed the Windows key to bring up the Task Bar, and used the Windows Explorer icon to access the file trees on the storage drives. Then I navigated to the file C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\SavedVariables\pChat.lua and copied it to a pChat "backup" folder in C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\backup (in which there are backup folders for a few other addons, too). My pChat backup folder now contains two files: pChat.lua.bak .... Date Last Modified: 6/6/2021 PM ... File Size: 598 KB pChat.lua .......... Date Last Modified: 6/7/2021 PM ... File Size: 390 KB The second file was copied from the ...\Saved Variables\ folder after I copied and re-named the first one, then used the dialog option to continue loading the character. Please explain, what is the SCREAMING about? What use is any add-on backup unless I re-install the previous version of the add-on? Is there a reason that I might want to do that? Why is the current pChat.lua file smaller than the previous one? (1) For your information, the file named LibAddonMenu.zip contains only the file named (differently) LibAddonMenu-2.0. So, that is the name of the folder in C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\Addons. (2) On my computer, the 5 dependencies listed on the pChat Addon Info tab have been installed for at least the past several weeks in the folder C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\Addons. That folder also contains LibChatMessage (version 1.2.0), and I have no idea as to what you mean by "in version 93 or higher!". How would I know whether it is?

pChat ## v10.0.1.4 ## Backup your SavesVariables at least once a week please so you got a copy for future pChat changes!
-Fixed settings menu to show the new CTRL+backspace settings proper: Chat options -> Chat Window -> Chat edit box -Updated dependency versions -Added a "Backup your SavedVariables" reminder. It will be shown once weekly or if the game's APIversion changes. Please backup your SV at least once weekly as the pChat SV structures will change in the future and if migration will fail you will need a file to go back to. You are able to disable the SV backup reminder in the settings at the Backup submenu! But don't blame me in the end if you missed your backups and pChat's SV structures change! It's up to you to backup your files and keep some recenty copies in order to fix stuff later on, thank you. Here is a "What SavedVariables are and how to backup them" link which could help you learn how the backup works. You can use it to backup all of your addon's settings, not only pChat.
