NoAccidentalStealing  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.7
by: Shinni [More]
This Addon prevents you from accidentally stealing an item - like a weapon or bottle next to the merchant.
Stealing becomes possible if one of the following conditions is met:
  1. You are hidden/stealthed.
  2. The "Confirm Stealing"-key is pressed. The keybind can be set via ESC -> Controls -> Confirm Stealing (at the very bottom).
  3. You doubletap the Interaction-key.
The second line of the Interaction-Reticle turns green when one of the conditions is met and stealing becomes possible (see screenshots).

The doubletap timeframe can be set in the addon's menu: ESC -> Settings -> AddOn Settings -> NoAccidentalStealing

You probably enabled auto loot for stolen items in the game's settings.
No I checked that. What's problematic for me is I cannot open containers (dresser, cabinets, etc.) unless I'm stealthed... then it autoloots whatever is in there.
What happens if you disable all other addons?
Do you use the addon Azura? That one also has some stolen container options.
THANK YOU!! It was Azura. I installed PhinxUI and it changed a bunch of my addons. Thank you again!

Funny, I do the exact same thing!
Lo and behold:

Here is how it is supposed to work:
You set a time in the addon's setting. Let's say X milliseconds. Now when you target a stealable item and press E (or whatever key you bound the interaction to), the interaction text turns green for X milliseconds. If you press the interaction button again during that time, you steal the item.

If it doesn't work for you, then:
What time did you set in the settings?
Did you interact with an object or a container? Did you select to allow container interactions in the addon's settings?
What happens after the first time you interact? Does the interaction text turn green?
What happens when you interact a second time while the interaction text is green?
Oh boy, i found out what the problem was
I did not see that Azurah got a "Safe Theft from Containers" control configuration, and it was enabled, and since i have not been in the config for ages, i must have forgotten that option, so disabling it every thing works great then "WHOOOOPS"

I don't have Azurah installed, but I am moving UI elements using Bandits UI. The only thing that doesn't work is the double tap, with or without other addons, so it's just a coincidence.

It seems "language" and "libs" folders are missing with Minion's update. Have to DL the whole package and unpack it to the AddOn folder.

I have a feature request: Could you add a keybind to completely disable the addon? This would be handy for stealing in unpopulated areas like the Daggerfall ships.
Also the configure double tap speed feature is not working.

and there is also no "Steal item" text or button shown when I aim at an item I can steal.

Edit: Neither does any reticle information show besides on other players
