By no means am I an addon maker, but I'd make a guess that it's not from a ton of variables being saved. The only reason I say this is because the .lua in question is 26kb, with many other addons' saved variables files being significantly larger (Azurah @ 51kb, AlphaGear @ 315kb, Master Recipe List @ 924kb).
