I would use /tmp to do stuff.
Also if plugin needs exact LUA files locations - symlink it there once.
Point is, /tmp can be mounted as tmpfs, which resides in RAM and does not kill SSD by writing files each 5 mins.
Proposed change, better as for my taste (run with 1st parameter eu or us, change addon folder what you have):
