Can't use most features

I installed EHT a couple of days ago but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. For example when I hover over a FX in the menu, it displays the preview, however when I click on the FX to place it in the world nothing happens.
The preview of the FX disappears until I hover over something else and then hover back on the first FX and...
