How to create your own Companion?

Hey there, all. I have no modding experience whatsoever, just in game development, and was wondering if anyone who knows ESO addons better than I could explain the complexities involved in:

1) Designing the look of a new companion from some kind of char gen
2) Creating the quest for player to recruit that companion
3) Using the existing companion dialogue framework in the game
4) Finding out whether this is completely illegible and an instant ban offence by ZOS if one were to write such an addon

I am weary of tank characters who are both goody-two shoes, and companions who keep spouting the same lines after killing an enemy or harvesting a resource (I'm looking at YOU, Bastian)

Thats an easy one to answer.

None of it (1-3) is possible with addons.

Thus you dont have to worry about 4.

Maybe Baetram likes to stop by and post the links, but there are sticky forum threads explaining what addons can and cant do. Please check those out before posting.

You could pay a roleplayer some gold to be your companion.

Big bonus is that they can actually carry your burdens and equip real armour. You can also interact with them in more ways than with regular companions. They might be a bit too strong though.

;)

Btw: Creating custom quests would be possible but not with something to unlock a custom companion, nor adding it to the game.
Companion settings, menus and stuff is all handled by the server. You cannot even show the companion menus without interacting with them to trigger the server stuff properly first.

Apologies, all. Much thanks for the replies! I should have looked further before posting.
