Minion Not Displaying

2 Attachment(s)
Hi!

I have been using this tool for quite a few months now, and really appreciate it.

However, I can't use it anymore..

When it starts, it stays minimzed in my task tray. When I click on it, the window won't display or pop open. This is Windows 10.

Any help would be great.

Cheers!

From the log it looks like its running ok. Looking at your minion.xml I think Minion is some how positioned off the viewable space on your desktop.

If you're savvy enough...

1. Quit Minion (double check the Task Manager that is no longer running).

2. Open your minion.xml in a text editor and remove the following lines...
Code:

<position height="688.0" width="1204.0" x="1935.0" y="330.0"/>
and (if you have)...

Code:

<auto-start/>
3. Save the minion.xml file.

4. Then start Minion again and hopefully it will go back to normal.

If the above steps seem a bit daunting you can just delete your minion.xml and restart Minion and it will reset Minion just like when you first installed it.

That did it! Should have thought of that. I ran it last on a much larger screen.

Thank you very much!

Cheers!

@Dolby
as this seems to happen for my dual screen desktop sometimes too:
Could you implement some right-click context menu to the minion system tray icon where we are able to reet minion's position to the upper left corner of the primary screen, or something similar?

Or at startup, have the app check to see if the current position and size places it outside the current viewport for the display, and if so place the window at the default location and size?

Both good simple and maybe quick ideas and I've added them to the backlog. Theres a lot in the backlog atm and we are so close to a new release. Really hoping to release soon. Just 2 bugs to overcome until we fix those bugs and find more major bugs :D.

Even better and simpler!

You know, if you need help finding those other major bugs you could share the new build with us on the Gitter channel. No need to wait because of some small bugs. :D

Minion 3.0.1 now has an option to reset window position. Right click the Minion icon in the Windows system tray and you'll find the option.

If you don't have a Minion icon in your systray just click the Minion icon on your task bar and see if it moves to the systray then.

Great! Thanks!

Hi!

It looks like the context menu item to reset the window position is gone.

Minion is stuck off screen for me again...

Is there a new workaround?

Cheers!

You need to right click on the Minion icon located in the system tray (next to the windows clock) not on the task bar and you should see the option.

If you still don't then you'll need to edit your minion.xml and remove the <position ... /> tag.

Minion doesn't appear in my system tray unless it is minimized.

I can't minimize it if I can't see it.

Also if I click on the icon in the task bar the minion icon disappears from the task (and system tray), but remains active as a windows process. At that point it can only be killed through the task manager.

Windows 10 here.

The better solution would be to check t=on startup to see if the window is outside the viewport for the current display, and if so move it into view. That's how all other applications work.
