Addon Request: Notepad
Hi all!
I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to create a 'notepad' addon for ESO? What I am envisioning is something like a journal with the ability to create (and delete) multiple pages. The user would be able to enter any text and (hopefully) have copy/paste functionality. Basically, this would be highly useful for roleplayers or anyone who wants to keep important game info there so they don't have to alt+tab out of the game to go find it elsewhere. What do you think? Can this be done? |
I love this idea, and if it could have spell check that would be an even bigger bonus.. :)
|
Rofl, even if the notepad side of things being possible, the chances of a spell checker as well I think would be a bit more lengthy to implement, made worse with locale languages.
|
Thats why I love having two screens. :D
So I can use my actual notepad without issues. |
Spellchecker aside, I think a notepad addon would be extremely helpful to the community. Anyone with more skills than myself willing to tackle this??
|
It's on my (looong) to-do list... :)
|
*bump*ing this to see if there is any more interest or if any progress has been made.. =)
|
You mean - Like this?
|
Heheh...wow! Yes, that looks just about perfect! If you could put 'tabs' in there so that a person can quickly access different notes they have saved and make the text size adjustable, you would be my personal hero!!
Also, copy/paste functionality would be awesome as well! Man, you addon authors are like gods walking amongst mere mortals.... /bow /worship |
Ya that looks good. Also you coud add /write emote :D
|
Its as very rough prototype I've thrown together after reading this yesterday but let me tell you that copy and paste is build in and already working. Just like drag and resize on the fly. I didnt sleep this night neither played the last four days so I'm taking a little break :D but I'll try to make it work and integrate multiple font-sizes, pages, a search and tabs if I see an easy way to do so.
Still thinking about where to integrate the open/close button. Thought. Hm, maybe the tabs could be implemented as a bookshelve in which you can create and access multiple books? Whatever I feel like I shouldnt have gotten that vampire bite - the sun hurts to much and that transformation ... Lmao! Cheers! Edit: Keep in mind prototype means almost no real logic and placeholder code yet its mostly optical stuff right now. Thought as I said I'm going to make it my top priority when I get back as I like that Idea and its a good way to learn some native API stuff and it's limitation. And yea lets see about that /write emote :D |
Mine is going through internal testing and should be ready for upload in the next day or so.

Really excited about both projects! Can't wait to see what you guys come up with! Thanks so very much for your hard work for the community!
As for the open/close button, I like the idea of a movable 'closed journal' graphic that simply needs to be clicked on to open or close the journal. |
Anymore news on this? I'm finding a zillion instances in game where this could be super useful! That being said, I know it can't be a walk in the park to make an addon like this. Trying to wait patiently, but dammit - I'm excited! lol

Umm ... roleplayer says yes. I would so use this for a journal in game.
|
Here you go. :)
