You should post that crash trace in the addon comments, rather than the forums. It will be easier for the author to see it there.

The "doesn't work" part is a fairly natural follow-on from the crash, so ... until problem number one is fixed, we should assume that the two are directly related.

I will note that the crash is while handling saved variables, so you might want to take a copy of your SavedVariables file (to make it available to the developer, so they can reproduce the problem) and then delete it. See if that resolves the issue.

If it does, make sure you put that file somewhere on the web that the developer can download it, and include that in the bug report you post in the comments of the addon.

Use Votan's Minimap. It's better; it's less intrusive, and it works.

Votan's also gives you the option to hide or display that effing Compass Bar!!! :)

OTOH, it lacks a significant number of features that Fyrkin's offers, such as the camera direction display, border pins, etc. While that may be a viable substitute, it certainly isn't a feature-for-feature replacement.

Votan's MiniMap is a perfect lightweight minimap, that not causes stutters or other problems, unlike Fryakin one :(

Do you have any evidence to support this assertion?

We tested and proofed this in serveral forum threads + gitter in the past (about 1 1/2 year agon I think), yes.
If the coding of the minimap did not change in total it might still have these lags and problems.

-> I myself e.g. switched because of the severe lags inside dungeons.

I cant say if it's still the problem butt I guess so as Votan's minimap seems to be the only minimap using the real normal map code (or at least it was as it was published).
