Overland is a common MMO term to describe things that are not in instanced areas, so e.g. not in dungeons/trials/solo instances/etc.
One MMO that made heavy use of that was Vanguard, with big non-instanced dungeons and raid bosses that just roamed the lands. Miss that game. Maybe code played that too.
