chatlog

so i researched and found out eso should have a command /chatlog and there is a file in Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\Logs called chatlog.log but when ever i use the command. Nothing is saved to the file. Any ideas?

Theres also these API commands in the wiki:
This function is private and cannot be used in addons LogChatText private (string text)
ToggleChatLog()

"UPDATE":
i used /chatlog. closed out of the game and then opened chatlog.log and it had some chat history in it.
Will test further.

It saves in bunch of 4096kb data. Thats why you could not see that file updated instantly after a new message in chat.
And it seems that this option doesn't stuck between game restarts. You need to run it again on each game start.

hmmm, I could sworn ZOS turned chatlog off on us just before launch. Sounds like it is partially active again. Interesting.....

That's probably because everything is kept in memory until you close or /reloadui, that it in any big games because it is faster to work in memory than counting on i/o disk access
