Thanks
I have started the new thread and found the information you needed. thank you for your feedback.
as a side note, minion was working perfectly for me until this happened a bit after the last update.
Minion Log file is completely empty (0kb)- however, the Minion0.txt shows a change in file size every time i try to start the program so ive listed it at the bottom. furthermore i am using Windows 7 Pro 64Bit as my operating system. id send a screen shot but all you will see is my desktop along with the minion loading screen being perpetually stuck until i have to force end the process. (for the sake of clarification, the little box that says "minion" that pops up right after i double click the App shortcut to start the program)

Minion XML is below

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>

Thanks for posting the log, there are a few things I see that I need to ask our java programmer about as possible causes.

Hi devilwoman85, still trying to figure out the issue. We have made a bug ticket so it will be investigated real soon. We are going to add more error logging earlier during the splash screen to try and catch what the issue is.

I don't remember but did you try loading the Minion-jfx.jar file manually? This has worked for a few people.

Load Minion using the jar file:
  1. Make sure you have Java7 installed
  2. Find your minion installation folder (default C:\Users\ISHTAR\AppData\Local\Minion\ )
  3. open the "app" folder inside there
  4. double click or right click "Open with >> Java(TM)" the Minion-jfx.jar

Does Minion load this way for you?

Also a few more questions:
  • What security software are you running?
  • Do you have an application installed called "Killer Network Manager?"
  • Are you using any browser AddOns/Extensions that allow you to view region locked videos?

Hello again,

I double checked that im running Java 7, and followed your directions to try starting the minion app with java and it just got stuck as usual (you hadn't mentioned starting minion in the above fashion before).

to answer your questions...
Im only running windows security essentials.
im not running, nor have i ever heard of "Killer network manager"
im not running any browser addons that allow me to view region locked videos...frankly i would like to now that ive heard of them...know any good ones that wont conflict with minion?

in case a list of my broweser addons would be helpful, please see below;
adobe acrobat 10.1.2.45
divX VOD helper plugin 1.1.0.6
DivX web helper 2.1.2.265
java deployment toolkit 7.0.600.19 and 10.60.2.19
java platform SE 7 U60 10.60.2.19
Microsoft office 2013
shockwave flash 14.0.0125
shockwave flash 13.0.0.214
VLC web plugin 2.1.3.0

Please let me know if theres anything else i can do. if you add additional error logging to minion, will it take the form of an upcoming update?

thanks for your reply!
i hope we can figure this out soon. im assuming others have the same issue i do?

Exclamation small developement in problem

i tried downloading and installing minion again today and went through the process of manually starting it by entering the folder (via the file path you indicated in your last reply) and granted, minion had the same issue with getting stuck on splash screen... however, when windows realized the program wasn't responding, it popped up and a window said "java platform SE binary is not responding" then below were two buttons one to end program now and the other was to wait for program to respond. i tried waiting but nothing happens. it just stays stuck and NEVER shows up as an active application in Windows Task Manager under the Applications tab, however it DOES show in the Processes Tab.

i hope this is another piece of the puzzle, and doesn't prove to be irrelevant.

thanks again! hope to hear from you soon

Hi devilwoman85, What version(s) of java do you have installed listed under your program manager in the control panel?

Have you tried installing the 32bit version of Minion? I have recently found some 64bit systems forcing java into 32bit mode.

Also we have found a problem with JUnique (this prevents Minion from loading multiple times) on some system however your symptoms don't match this issue 100% it may be worth a shot. If the 32bit client doesn't work can you try this alpha release?
