Not only for the forum but it could also be very useful for addon-pages, when you want to include some additional information without cluttering the page.

You have two alternative options.

1. Use a code tag instead. (This will condense your text into a scrollable frame.)
2. Add a page to your author portal and link to it in the addon description. (Our author portals don't quite get the recognition they deserve and often get overlooked!

Is there any reason not to have the spoiler-tag though?
It's quite useful and fairly common on forums.

To be honest (maybe I don't get around enough?) I hardly ever see the spoiler tag.
