Localization, suggestions?

Can anyone point me in a direction before I start making a table per language and then a combining them in a gigantic localization table to draw the values from? Or is it a good idea, and can be pursued? Any help will be appreciated, searches didn't result in much.

edit: nevermind, found some topics (after initial one, apparently I kept searching among add-ons).
