Minion will not load after install

I updated Minion on my mac and after the install the program will not start up. It says Minion in the title bar for a few seconds and then goes away without ever showing the splash screen. I tried to open Minion in another user and got the same issue which means there is a system error somewhere. Any ideas?

Hi Superdeaz,

What version of OSX are you running?

Under Applications >> Utilities >> Console does anything Minion related show up under the "all messages" log when you launch Minion?

Do you have a minion0.log file? Open a terminal window and type...

cp ~/.minion/minion0.log ~/Desktop/

then you should have a minion0.log on your desktop that you can attach here.

What happens if you remove Minion, download it again and install it and choose not to update it when asked?

Hi Superdeaz, What version of OSX are you running? Under Applications >> Utilities

I'm running 10.10

Jul 27 20:49:12 MacBook-Pro.local Minion[5640]: [JRSAppKitAWT markAppIsDaemon]: Process manager already initialized: can't fully enable headless mode.

thats what popped up in console

after reinstalling it won't launch period just momentarily in the menu bar

Hi Superdeaz,

Thanks for that information. Unfortunately those errors aren't helping us much find the cause. I am wondering if you could try and run Minion from the terminal window?

Open a new terminal window and type the following:

Code:
java -jar /Applications/Minion.app/Contents/Java/Minion-jfx.jar
Then copy and paste what you get here please.

Hope we can figure out this issue and I'm sorry its happening to you. I'm running 10.10 on a older laptop myself and Minion is working fine so I don't think it is specific to just OSX 10.10.

I was able to get my hands on a system where I can reproduce this error. I'm currently looking into why this is happening.

I can say that version 2.0.9 seems to work. So if you would like to install that version for now and when prompted to update... don't

We have released an update to Minion that should address this issue. Please uninstall Minion and download 2.0.11-beta from http://minion.mmoui.com

I was finally able to reproduce the issue and find the offending change.
