Not Detecting Add-ons or able to Find ones to install

So I have installed and reinstalled a few times. I found that choosing no proxy server lets me at least see the minion screen and it says there is no addons. However, I do have addons. And when I click on Find More...it doesn't allow me to search for anything. It's just a black screen. I tried deleting the xml but it reappears again. I also tried giving my antivirus the permissions. I would greatly appreciate any help someone can give me I am on a windows laptop. My desktop works just fine. Frustrating me. Again, thank you so much and please bare with me as i might not be as tech savoy as you and you may have to simplify the answers.
