Why do I need to log in?

Just curious why an addon program to an MMO requires you to log in (either as a user or guest) to use it? What's the rationale behind this? What information/demographics are you after by putting such a feature in this app?

You don't need to login. Press the [guest] button

Logging in will be required for some features in the future though. Just because the feature will need to tell users apart to work.

But you can always use minion as a Guest
