Darker HeatMapR Fog Of War?

The addon may be abandoned as it hasn't been updated in over a year, which is why I'm asking for help here. The FOW element in this addon is not nearly dark enough for my tastes. The only setting in the addon is to adjust the opacity of the heat map. There is not a setting to adjust the FOW that I can find. I've tried adjusting the opacity in paint.net but I don't know what I'm doing and I can't get it any darker. Maybe there is something that can be added or adjusted in the lua to accomplish this. Otherwise, I guess the dds files will have to be modified, but I don't know how to do it.

I'm using paint.net, but I can't figure out how to adjust the image. If I open the layer properties, it shows the opacity already at maximum. I don't know what I'm doing with paint.net apparently.

EDIT: Through MUCH trial and error and using DXTBmp along with paint.net, I think I've almost got it.
