Friends List Organiser

Hey guys, I've got a bit of an addon request. It may already be a thing, because I was quite surprised when I searched the term "friend" to not find an addon that already did this.

But basically what I'm looking for is an addon that allows you to organise your friends list into categories, like "Close Friends", "Traders", "Dungeon Buddies" etc.

This would be pretty damn useful for me, thanks!

This kind of addon is not yet given afaik.
If I remember correctly it's also not easy doable, at least not inside the vanilla friendslist, as one would need to totally overwrite the base of that list to accept the categories, and change/overwrite and copy a lot of the code there. This makes it hard after each patch as changes would need to be re-coded in the addon too

I might be wrong and it might be easier today, I had touched that list a few years ago only. But as it did not seem to change or get new features in the past I guess it's still the same code.

What would be an idea would be a replacement friends list which only shows the categories on top at another UI as the friendslist is opened. Or another column could be possible where you enter a category and are able to sort by. This sounds more or less doable, or at least more easy doable (in theory :-) ).

The column idea should be doable, as there is already an addon that adds a character name column to the friends list.

What I was imagining in my head though, is where the categories are just drop-downs within the current friends list. So there are titles of the categories, and under those titles are all your friends you've allocated to that category. The titles can be expanded and minimised just like any other drop-down.

Yeah and this is what the list type does not provide and what I wrote above, or tried to explain above
There exist list types where you can add a category headline, but without any dropbox. Only fixed text you define once.
And you can add owsbelow the headline then. But even the friendslist list type does not provide that and one would need to overwrite all code from the scratch!

Or you would need some totally new UI there which replaces the current one, or is shown next to it (movable frame).

Both a lot of work for a small benefit (category could be added to the note e.g. already as free text; it's just not sorted below the category then, that's why the column wa smy idea to circumvent that more easily), but perhaps someone wants to take the challenge (with the column e.g.).

Edit:
The later addon with the new UI already exists, including grouping and color for the groups of your friends:
https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info...oXFriends.html

You maybe should ask there for more features if you want others.

Yeah, I'm currently using the notes system to organise them, but it's not very effective when you have a lot of friends since you can't sort them. And yeah I've already looked at the addon you mentioned, it's not really the same sort of thing. But thank you anyway. I'm sure someone will make it some day, I would be down to put in the effort myself, as I have some experience making mods for games. But I'm not sure where to start to learn about making ESO addons.
