RIP Addons

Literally gutted the API. ZoS way overshot with the gutting of the API. Looks like i'm canceling pre-order and going to wildstar because of a lousy dev team.

Can you go into more detail for those of us who aren't graced with PTS access?

"Gutted" seems like an overdramatic term, and your reaction to the changes seem even more overdramatic.

Unless I'm missing something, combat mods are really the only things that have been affected badly by these changes. I personally think this is a good thing, because it means that players with the combat mods installed won't have an information advantage over those players that do not.

If ZO has decided that this is the direction that they want to go for combat in this game, then good on them. It means that they have something VERY specific in mind when it comes to the combat in this game and I, for one, respect them immensely for enforcing it as completely as this.

Rant aside, let's have a moment of silence for all of the combat mods that lost their lives in this update. I hope their authors don't regret the time spent developing them.

If we can finally discuss and not fight about addons, may be we could ask ZOS to review their position on some part of the API they restricted.

I planned to use some addons more for aesthetics, and one for help in my own combat, but i can understand that this whole complete change is a bit drastic for some of you.

I think that the way we were all fighting about addons forced them to take a hard decision, may be next time we will behave differently.

I agree with the most changes, but why can't I see my own buffs?

I agree on this one. My personal buffs and debuffs are essential if i want to play on competitive level.

I thought my own buffs are still visible:
Restricted information that GetUnitBuffInfo has access to. It can now only be used to discover long term buffs about the local player.

Long term buffs, yes, but not short ones like DoTs or HoTs.

I'd still use it, even if it only displays longterm buffs. I never realize when my provisioning or spiked armor buff run out. (i can't see the spikes in first person)

Buffs have to be longer duration than 30 seconds to register now. Only 2 buffs show for DK at all as of last night's testing.

this is like watching fox news.. seriously... most add ons still work. even without the author changing anything besides the new api number in the txt file.

things lost
buffs/debuffs below 30s
enemy buffs debuffs
enemy mana and stam
incoming attack name (damage amount is still available)
friendlies stam and magica buffs/debuffs
kill spam
ap point call

there is still combat logs,

verified working add ons had to change api to 100003 on some
-FTC (edit line 7 in casting bar.lua to "{}" and line 26 in main lua to false)
-ZRminimaps (change api version)
-wyykd frames
-FTC combat logs (change api version) dps meter and combat log still works, enemy dmg is still posted to combat log but with out listing the skill that dmged you
-inventory grid view(change api version)
-esoheadmarkers
-multiquest tracker(change api version)
-zam stats

This one is easy to explain. Because people would write addons that print small pixels on screen in a certain color and use a third party tool to track those pixels. Then they would use any sort of autoscript that runs keyboard interaction because of the buff that was tracked.

If any information provided by the API can be exploited. Bet on it. It will.
