Version: 0.4.8
by: Baertram [More]
IMPORTANT CHANGE - Version 0.3.8
This addon depends on the following libraries:
-LibAddonMenu-2.0

FCO Chat Tab Brain

Newest features:
-Settings to remember the last active chat tab at logout/reloadui -> Automatically set the last active chat tab after login/reloadui again

The changelog was moved to the appropriate panel, because Minion will finally be able to show the changelog correctly too. Plesae click on the blue text "Changelog" inside Minion's addon popup.

FCO Chat Tab Brain brings you the brain for your chat tabs:
  • Options to set the fade out time of the chat window and chat window buttons (after a contact cam online/went offline, mails were received, notifications were added, ...) separately
  • Will remember the last used channel and the last contacted person, for each of your chat tabs
  • will automatically change to a chat tab (you chose it) upon incoming chat messages (like "open group chat tab if group chat comes in"). A chat inactivity time can pe set to avoid changing tabs as you are still reading
  • Play more then 500 different sounds upon incoming chat messages, dinstinguished by receiving chat channel (whisper, guild 1, guild 2, say, etc.), keywords or ignored account-/character-names
-> See the file "ESO_sound_list.nfo" inside the ZIP archive for a list of all sounds, and their number (choose/enter this number at the settings panel ingame to hear a test playing)
  • Switch to last incoming chat channel (e.g. /guild1) automatically if you start your next outgoing chat message. Your message will be sent in (e.g. /guild1) then and you just need to press RETURN, type your text and send it.
  • Change chat tab header color to light blue if a message came in and you are not currently active at this chat tab
  • Enables you to mark/unmark all chat tab options with one click
  • You will be able to change your chat tabs by keybndings
  • You will be able to cycle the chat tabs left/right by keybindings
  • You will be able to show/hide the chat window by keybindings too
  • Redirect your outgoing whisper messages to one selected chat tab. All your whispers will be send and received in the same, clean, chat tab!
  • Activate your whisper chat tab automatically upon incoming whispers (only if you do not write text currently!)
  • The annoying chat buttons + labels (friends, mail, messages) can be hidden even if the friends online/messages/mails are > 0 (You'll have to enable the ESO standard option for the chat fade out/transparency!)
  • The minimized chat will hide all buttons and only show the small corner texture
  • Use keybindings to switch between the last chat channels of incoming chat messages (setting to scroll the chat to the bottom upon keybind usage for tab changes)
  • Settings to scroll the chat to the bottom upon new incoming chat messages, which change a chat tab (respecting the inactivity/idle timers!)
  • Keybinds to scroll the chat to the top/bottom

And many other possibilities...

This will only work with the standard ESO chat tabs!

Many thanks to the following people:
-Garkin, for the help with the chat tab code!

What is the idea of this addon?

Do you use different chat tabs to distinguish between zone chat, guilds, party, whispers, etc.?
Ever got annoyed from the chat not remembering your last channel you talked in, after you switched the different chat tabs?
You talked to your party, switched to your guil, strat to write a message and your party will get it?
So you need to manually enter /g1 in the chat, after you change the tab to your guild, and then you can finally start to write text...
You can change the chat tab to a special one that you like to check, or just cycle the tabs to the left/right using keybindings. This will even work during fighting, so you won't miss your guild's messages anymore, when they plan to do this particular vet. dungeon you wanted to join.

This disturbing handling is history now!

FCO Chat Tab Brain will remember everything for you. Even after relogging it will put you the last used chat channel into each tab as you select the tabs!

How to use this addon?

Download the addon, enable it, have a look at the settings and start to chat.
The brain will remember, for each of your chat tabs, which channel (e.g. zone, party, guild1, tell, etc.) you talked in and which contact person you have written to (for a /tell or /whisper).
-> You will have to succesfuly send a message to the chat tab so "the brain" get's active for the current chat tab!

You could also use chat commands:

/fcochattabbrain <parameter>
/fcoctb <parameter>

Supported parameters
'help' / 'list': Shows information
'status' / '': Shows the current status
'on': Enable the chat tab brain
'off': Disable the chat tab brain
'toggle': Enable/Disable the hat tab brain

Compatibility
Currently nly compatible with the stanndard ESO chat container!

-Updated: Security checks for supported chat channels

0.1.9

-Added feature: Also enable whisper message idle time, like the other idle times too
-Added feature: Option to 'Change chat channel to whisper':
Reckognize incoming whisper messages and enable answering to the sender by pressing RETURN key, if you are at the whisper tab (old behaviour: Pressing RETURN key started a whisper message to the last whispered person and you had to use 'Reply to whisper' keybinding to answer the last incoming sender)

Example:

-A chat inactivity time for each chat channel (say, yell, group, guild 1-5, officer 1-5, sytem) can be set to avoid changing tabs as you are still reading.
-If you are moving the mouse in and out of the chat or you are typing text, changing tabs manually the automatic tab changing will not be triggered (you ar active in the chat then)
-Settings to avoid automatic chat tab changes if you are grouped are included!

0.0.9c - > 0.1.0
Added "whisper redirect" function: Clean whispering only in 1 chat tab!

If you use several chat tabs, and especially 1 chat tab for your incoming whispers, you will love this new feature:
(o) Choose your whisper chat tab number in the settings (value=0 means "whisper redirect" is disabled!)
(o) If you start a whisper, no matter how you start it, the whisper chat tab will be opened and your message will be send from here

-> Only 1 single chat tab to send and receive your whispers
-> No more started whispers in several different chat tabs, which will need you to manually change the chat channel again (to guild or group e.g.)
-> Simply use ChatTabBrain keybindings to switch through your chat tabs, press RETURN key and start to write in this channel

Will redirect you to the whisper chat tab if you:
-Autocomplete a whisper name by pressing the TAB key, using the mouse or the keyboard UP and DOWN keys to select an auto complete entry
-Reply to an incoming whisper by keybinding
-Start a whisper by using the chat commands
-Start a whisper by using the mouse's right click context-menu (at the guild roster, friends-list etc.)
-Send a new whisper message text

To come:
-Directly switch to whisper chat tab if you left click a player in the chat (currently this will only select his name and if you write the whisper message and press RETURN the whisper channel will be shown)
-Same for the right mouse button context menu at a player in the chat

Re: Explanation

What do you mean by this sentence?

I can't setup this add-on to switch to these channels because it's always different which channel is on 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc place.
I guess you mean guild1 is shwn on your chat tab 1 and 2 and 3? Then check point 2. below to setup the chat tabs and their shown channels correctly!!! This is a standard game setting and I thought everyone knew it...

1. You first need to create the chat tabs: You did this.
2. Then right click each chat tab and choose "settings" -> In the popup mark only these chat channels that should be shown in this chat tab (like guild1 chat tab should only have the checkbox for "Guild 1" checked): Did you do this?
3. Then do a /reloadui to update the created chat tabs into the LAM settings menu of FCO ChatTabBrain.

3. Open the LAM settings of FCOChatTabBrain and activate the chat tab switiching and all the settings that you want to apply.
4. Scroll down to the settings where you specify for each chat channel (group, zone, zoneEN, zoneFR, guild1, guild2, etc.) if the automatic chat tab switiching should be activated.
Set it to "ON" -> See the screenshot in my post for "AlonsoTherion" below!

5. Then choose from the dropdown box at each chat channel which chat tab should be switched to.
e.g. for "Guild1" choose your chat tab "Guild 1", for "Group" choose the chatt ab where you have set the /group chat channel to be shown (see point 2. above!).

Specify the inactivity time in the slider for each chat channel. The addon should swith to the chat tab then (if you are not already on it and if the inactivy time in seconds had applied, and if you are not currently writing something on another chat tab -> Counts as activity too!).

If this setting is turned "OFF" ("AUS") then the automatic switch to a this chat channel is not activated and any message coming in into this chat channel (e.g. /zone) won't switch to the chosen chat tab.
If you turn it on the adodn will change to the chat tab that you chose in the dropdown box above the checkbox.
The inactivity slider to the right of the dropdown box let's you choose how long in seconds you need to be inactive in the chat before a new incoming message in /zone will change to the chat tab that you have chosen in the dropdown box.

There is no char difference settings except if you have disabled the account wide settings and configured different settings for each of your characters on purpose?

You are able to disable the change to specific chat channels, like /zone, in the settings. But as you stated your settings are the same with the other character, and thus chat tab switiching for /zone should be enabled. MAybe disable it, do a /reloadui in chat and then enable it again?

Or if you have the chat tab active where the /zone chat should be shown, so it doesn't need to swith to it.
Or if you are writing a lot on other chat tabs, or moving the mouse above the chat window, as the /zone chat comes in at the other chat tab -> the addon will recognize your mouse movement and writings and if you haven't been unbusy/inactive for at least some seconds it won't change the chat tab automatically for you, as it thinks you are busy at the other tab!
-> You can specify this time to wait for inactivity (in seconds) in the settings too

The only thing that could prevent the change to the zone chat tab could be if you have disabled the auto change to /zone channel or if you have specified a wrong chat tab name from the dropdown list as the /zone chat tab?
Did you check if the settings of the chosen /zone tab is showing the /zone chat (standard eso chat tab settings-> right click tab -> settings -> specify in the popup which of the chat channels are shown inside this chat tab, /zone needs to have the activated checkbox)?

Is is the standardard /zone channel or maybe they are different /zone channels that you are talking about at the different chars, like the one got /zone and the other one it's /zonefr or /zoneen where they are writing in?

You could reset the saved variables (logout, backup the savedvars filename FCOChatTabBrain.lua inside Elder Scrolls Online/libe/SavedVariables folder, then rename/delete it | or use Minion to delete the savedvariables file, but backup before!) and setup everything new to check if this fies your issue.
As I'm not able to reproduce this I cannot really help you, sorry

Yeah, where exactly in the settings can I disable auto change for a specific tab?
Yeah, I suspected it was that, but there aren't checkboxes, only "on/off" and it's off...
I don't know what happened, but it seemed to fixed itself... I don't know if it were when I changed account wide to player save settings... after that I received a lua error (I'm receiving lua error when I change account wide save settings)... in addition to that, I have checked change to group when I'm grouped and it doesn't change at all..

What is not working for you if you use pChat and FCO CTB? More details please and info how to reproduce !
Well I really want to use the function to autochange channels (chat windows) when someone writes, even autochange to group chat. These functions simply not working with pChat. Tried only FCO CTB and worked just fine. I will check again tomorrow.

Update: Have no idea how but I managed to work them together. Disabled all my add-on, loaded pChat and FCO CTB and they worked just fine together. Tweaked a bit the settings in FCO CTB, loaded back all my add-ons I use (50+) and they were still working just fine. I hope they are gonna work tomorrow aswell.

Re: Multiple windows?

Multiple windows is not supported, no. Maybe other chat addons are able to do so.
And if I remember correctly the adoon pc hat will let addons do messages to the system chat only. At least my messages of addons are all shown in the chat tab where I've enabled the system option.

Im a bit annoyed that chat messages from most addons appear in all chat tabs, is it any way to sort which tab addons should use, or divide them to different tabs?
