Rainbow Reticle (updated)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.0.7
by: mctaylor, Garkin, Mitazaki
Introduction

This is a up to date replacement version for Exterminatus Rainbow Reticle by Mitazaki, as Mitazaki is no longer maintaining it.

This add-on colors the reticle (cross-hairs) based on what it is pointing at, including hostile targets change it to red for example.

It also can optionally color the reticle when pointing at guild mates, friends (from friends list), and group members. Additionally it can optionally display the level of the target, as well as optionally display the target's health current / maximum values and/or as a percentage.

It also ignores trivial "critters" that are not hostile and only level 1, so as to keep from being distracting.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current version:

1.0.7 released 2015-06-27 (Monday 27 June 2015)
  • Update for Update 6 ("Tamerial Unlimited") and API version change.
  • Update LibAddonMenu to 2.0 r18 used for add-on settings menus
  • Code updates due to Reticle's StealthIcon changes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Previous versions:

1.0.6 released 2014-11-03 (Monday 3 November 2014)
  • Update for Update 5 ("Veteran City of Ash") and API version change.
  • Update LibAddonMenu to 2.0 r16 used for add-on settings menus

1.0.5 released 2014-09-17 (Wednesday 17 September 2014)
  • Update for Update 4 ("Upper Craglorn") and API version change.
  • Improve the resetting of the Stealth "eye" reticle color being incorrectly "stuck" at the previous non-default color (most commonly hostile or group) and associated "stealth text" ("Hidden", "Detected").
  • There may be a small issue with the stealth text visibility, having to do with how long it is visible for, but should be a minor annoyance with the text being shown slightly too frequently or slightly too long.

1.0.4 released 2014-08-10 (Sunday 10 August 2014)

This is a bug fix which fixes the error message when hiding (crouching).

See the Change Log for details on previous versions.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some history

Rainbow Reticle was created by Mitazaki, but he has stopped playing the game, so mctaylor with Mitazaki's written permission took over maintenance, and Garkin stepped in with an update for Craglorn which I am grateful for.

Rainbow Reticle includes LibAddonMenu 2.0 r16 by Seerah, and LibStub 1.0 r2 by Seerah, et all with permission.

- Added level indicator next to name. This also can be toggled on or off.
- Tweaked the option menu.
- You can now toggle on and off name plates for different types of targets.

I've updated this addon to be compatible with Champion Ranks and have some new features in the works - http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1...leRevived.html

Hostile name text

Hi, is there a way to disable the hostile name text?
I just want the health percentage.
If not, does someone know an addon that shows only
the health percentage at the reticle like this?

Gonazz,

I just discovered that my previous explanation of this wasn't addressed to you. I had originally wrote it a suitable response to your problems in response to theHollow's bug report near the same time. And I mixed up the two reports, I'm sorry.

I didn't mean to ignore your feedback, I thought I had already answered it.

So to re-cap or expand, there are two issues:

a) Garkin has been quicker updating his add-ons after game updates - self-explanatory,

b) the coloring of other characters is a difference in how each of us maintained the add-on. Garkin introduced the colouring of all other characters (blue) that I used for v1.2.3 ("Veteran Crypt of Hearts"), which I later undid to make my version act more consistent with the original version. That is, only changing color for hostile, group, friend, or guild.

If you prefer that behaviour, and/or prefer not to wait the extra 1-2 days it has taken me to release my updates, then please enjoy using Garkin's RainbowReticle version. I use several of Garkin's other add-ons myself, and have been very impressed with both his programming and his contributions here on ESOUI.

If you can stand using the add-on using the "allow out-of-date updates" option for a couple of days, and prefer the original behaviour, then I hope you or anyone else continue to find this add-on a good choice.

Again my apologies for unintentionally ignoring your comments, and I hope your Elder Scrolls Online gaming / community experience is an enjoyable one regardless of which add-on you use.

I am having the same problem. Just started today, but I don't get any info from other players unless guild mate, friend or group member. I have logged in and out a few times and reloaded my ui but still won't display other players.

Any suggestions to help fix this are welcome =)

Yes, I'm sorry I missed this. I found what the problem is and the patch has been uploaded and should be available by the time you read this.
Great, I really depend on this tool, it's far more streamlined than the other ones.

Thanks

One question that occurred to me while make changes, how should such an option treat enemy PC's, such as in PvP / AvA (Cyrodiil and Trials) or should be only be for friendly (allied) players?
Haven't tried it yet, since I don't PvP (too busy being a socialite). However, there are these statuses for everything that is targeted. I suspect that enemy factions are a particular status code, and could be colored accordingly. But I -think- that the add-on just mirrors the native reticle color with enemies.

Okay. I will treat enemy players as hostile (since that is the unit reaction), well that and I had imagined there was an PLAYER_ENEMY reaction.

Thanks.

I am a coder already (although not for LUA), so it was easy enough to add the code to do this by simple tweaks of the existing LUA script and some experimentation... but I was touching the original add-on, not your updated variant.

Here are my comments and bits of wimpy LUA code:
Code:
--[[
Lastly, check to see if the target is a hostile or friendly mob, and change associated reticle items to the same color
	NPC's are UNIT_REACTION_INTERACT (5) or UNIT_REACTION_NPC_ALLY (7). Haven't seen a UNIT_REACTION_FRIENDLY yet?
	PC's are UNIT_REACTION_PLAYER_ALLY (6).
(not in the actual order in the API docs :-(
	0	UNIT_REACTION_DEFAULT
	1	UNIT_REACTION_INTERACT
	2	UNIT_REACTION_DEAD
	3	UNIT_REACTION_HOSTILE
	4	UNIT_REACTION_NEUTRAL
	5	UNIT_REACTION_FRIENDLY
	6	UNIT_REACTION_PLAYER_ALLY
	7	UNIT_REACTION_NPC_ALLY
	--]]
	reaction = GetUnitReaction('reticleover')
	--d(reaction)
if reaction == UNIT_REACTION_NEUTRAL or reaction == UNIT_REACTION_HOSTILE then -- is this for mobs?
		r,g,b = GetUnitReactionColor('reticleover')
		NameLabel:SetColor(r,g,b)
		HealthLabel:SetColor(r,g,b)
		reticle:SetColor(r,g,b)
		stealthEye:SetColor(r,g,b)
		stealthText:SetColor(r,g,b)
	elseif reaction == UNIT_REACTION_PLAYER_ALLY then
		NameLabel:SetColor(0,1,1) --aqua
		HealthLabel:SetColor(0,1,1)
		reticle:SetColor(0,1,1)
		stealthEye:SetColor(0,1,1)
		stealthText:SetColor(0,1,1)
	--elseif reaction == UNIT_REACTION_FRIENDLY or reaction == UNIT_REACTION_NPC_ALLY then d("NPC")
	--else d("I am something else...")
	end

I realize saying it doesn't work in itself isn't helpful, I was just to tired last night to log back in an script the error.

user:/AddOns/RainbowRecticle/RainbowRecticle.lua:245: function expected instead of nil
stack traceback:
user:/AddOns/RainbowRecticle/RainbowRecticle.lua:245: in function 'OnTargetHasChanged'

For me it happens when crouched, and as I moved the cursor off the target.

since the 1.3.3 Update

Since the 1.3.3 update, I've found that the Reticle goes into ui error report mode if I crouch then target a mob. If I clear it pops right back up, until I stand up again.
