AlphaGear 2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 6.3.0
by: mesota [More]
Anything you need to manage your skills and gear.

I've adopted this great AddOn from AlphaLemming and changed the name to "AlphaGear 2" for the version that I maintain.

AlphaGear 2 lets you create up to 16 builds that may be activated with a single button press. Each build consists of
  • 7 pieces of armor
  • 3 pieces of jewelry
  • 2 weapon bars including poison
  • 2 skill bars
  • 1 outfit

Use cases
  • Switch between different roles
  • Switch between PvE and PvP environment
  • Create two (or more) builds with the same equipment, but different skill bars to create situational skill setups (solo, group, etc...)

New and noteworthy in 6.3.0
  • ESO 4.0 (Summerset)
  • Changed: Updated to latest Lib-Addon-Menu
  • Fixed: Empty (white) equipped set widget
  • Fixed: skills from previous version restored
  • Fixed: massive memory consumption for skill-table

Known Issues
  • Updating a version prior 6.x with minion doesn't seem to work. Workaround: Delete the .../AddOns/AlphaGear directory and reinstall AlphaGear 2. Don't delete anything from .../SavedVariables. AlphaGear 2 will reuse your already created sets.

  • Marify for Japanese translation
  • adrienmoorea for French translation
  • Hoft for Russian translation
  • Snow and many others for valuable feedback
  • UESP for the list of skill ids prior to Summerset

AlphaGear 2 Version Numbers

I use the following semantics for AlpahGear 2 version numbers:
<Major>.<Minor>.<Patch> <Qualifier>

Major: Always "6" for the branch that I maintain
Minor: Increases with every new ESO version: 3.1 = "0", 3.2 = "1", 3.3 = "2", "4.0" = "3"
Patch: Increases with every fixed bug or enhancement within a minor version.
Qualifier: Arbitrary labels like "alpha", "beta" to indicate a version which is not ready for production ;).

Wishlist
  • Arbitrary number of profiles with 16 build/gear/skill-slots each
  • Make AlphaGear icon visible only in the inventory screen
  • Auto-repair armor using repair-kits
  • Auto-repair armor in bag (not only worn)

  • Add a one-button create-build-from-what-i'm-wearing function
  • Integration of stiles (skins, costumes, guild tabard, hat, hair style, etc.)

Thanks for your work on this. Great add-on.
I'm currently working on profiles which will allow you to create multiple (infinite amount of) build-sets. See the wishlist in the change log. But this will take some time.

Thanks for the response - looking forward to it.

The helm defaults back to the -Outfit- helm, -not- the Costume helm/hat. This is because of the jacked-up way ESO now handles headgear on -four- different levels (No Outfit, with Outfit, with Costume Hat, and with Polymorph Helmet). At least if the Costume Hat were saved with my gear loadout, I could just hit my keybind to snap it back into place.
I've added an integrated stile/outfit handling to the wishlist. I've had a look into this stuff- nothing for the faint-hearted. Maybe that's the next feature after profiles- no promises.

Please enable both options 'Show weapon swap message' and 'Show equipped set'. This should do the trick. There is no logic implemented which hides the icon in 'peaceful condition'. Do you have other addons installed which may influence the UI in general? If so, try to disable all addons beside AlphaGear and look what happens.

Repair ALL Option

I just noticed that the option to auto repair at merchant only repairs what you're wearing, it does not offer an option to repair armor in your inventory. Worth the "up front" time investment!

I just pulled this addon recently because I was looking for a way to have my character quickly change configurations to perform different dungeon roles. It took a little time to get comfortable with the interface but given the many "moving parts" of a character's build, I felt like a great job was done with this add-on!

Thank you for investing the time in its creation and upkeep! I believe this will save me a lot of time messing around with alternate characters just so I have a tank, healer, or PvP build on standby when my go-to DPS build is not needed.

Now I never have to log off and switch! I no longer look at something that dropped and think "Well that would have been great if I was a healer." Now I can just replace what I'm using on the fly. It also helps me with inventory management. I can easily compare the new stuff I find to what I'm using (again without switching characters" so no reason to put things in the bank and save to later.

I suggest to anyone considering this add-on for a similar use consider locking any gear that is part of their builds. The add-on flags the items which is great, but you might also want to protect them from accidental sale or deconstruction so you don't find yourself lacking just as you get ready to run a dungeon.

I did occasionally have my skill bars not refresh/switch after a configuration change. So what it would look like is if I was switching from DPS to tank config, my armor and weapons would change, but my skill bars would not. If you go into the add-on though everything looks like it should. I pretty much had to /reloadui to get the skill bars to refresh with the correct settings. This only happened now and then and if I'm not mistaken, only after I had been making changes.

Overall a fantastic and helpful tool!

The element will completely disappear if I swap to another set.
This is a bug
Happens when you disable 'Show weapon swap message' but enable 'Show equipped set' (a combination which doesn't make sense). Will be fixed in the next version.

-mesota
No problem, I re-enabled the option, thank you for the reply!

Agreed.
Thanks for the nice words

I know now that Ayantir, the author of Pimp my Ride, has retired. There won't be an update from his side. I won't promise anything, but it might be that I'll have a look into his addon to see if I can adopt some functions...

Yes. I've just turned it off. Not a solution, per se, but Oh well.
