Votan's Fisherman  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.9.21
by: votan [More]
Description
This addon stores the type of a fishing hole once a specific fish or bait was catched. The type and the fishes and baits already catched there, are shown in the interaction menu while focusing the fishing hole.
Pins with a corresponding color are added to the map.

Additional:
  • Inspired by the feature request from cnschu in Bait Informer, yet not implemented there: Showing bait usage in quickmenu
  • Inspired by Luminary - FishMe - Know your Bait & Fish: "Reel In" Notification.

The idea from awesomebilly is genius. I rewrote it from scratch. Hopefully more robust against false alerts. Always remember: As it is an indirect indication only, it can be fouled.
In order to avoid false alerts, the notification is suspended, if your are in the menus.

Known Limitations
There is no API to get the type or position of the fishing hole. It is an estimation. There are locations, where the fishing holes were so close to each other, that even the game itself does not know which to use, depending on your position and heading.

Beschreibung

  • Inspiriert durch Luminary - FishMe - Know your Bait & Fish: "Einholen" Benachrichtigung.

Die Idee von awesomebilly ist genial. Ich hab sie neu geschrieben. Hoffentlich robuster gegen Falschalarme.

What do "Pin level" and "Show loot on..." options do?

Also, could you make the icons a little higher resolution? They appear fairly washed out and blurry.

I am asking where are these coming from. The fishing spots are - I believe - the same for everyone, and not randomly generated on the client side, so I don't understand how could they appear inside a mountain for example, or 50m away from nearest water.
Again. There is no function to get the position of a spot. All is done by estimation and depends on how and how often you approach a spot. (Preferred: Do a half circle around a spot without loosing focus)
A bit more accurate, but also time-consuming, is to stand in the spot, open map, left-click the new spot and use "Set to player position".
May the map you are currently in needs focus range adjustment. Which map is it?

Could you add an option to hide the hardcoded spots from the addon and only show those I discover myself? When I enable the map pins, 90% of them don't exist at all, and clutter my map.
There are no hardcoded spots. If you want to see spots discovered by yourself only, discover them by yourself only.
If you discover a spot and do not care about its estimated position you may see a bad position until you focus the spot from different positions.

Circle intersection and triangulation by focusing the spots from 3 different angles. Each by walking around without loosing focus. No API info.

Pin level (I understand the size, but what is this?), Show loot on...
Well, that's it. Most of the settings are self-explanatory, but these I can't figure out.

Also (and I am nitpicking here), could you make the icons a little higher resolution? They appear fairly washed out and blurry.

Yes. 2 new ordinary white fishes and 12 new rare fishes for a new achievement. All foul water I think.
Yup, all foul water. The only thing here is oil, so. Makes sense. I'm working on fishing them all up as we speak!
