The Elder Bar


What is it?
This addon adds an information bar on the screen, chocked full of information gadgets that update in real-time. The gadgets can be placed on the bar in any order and there are lots of options to configure each one. Last, but not least, the bar can also indicate when in combat.

Features
  • The Elder Bar can be unlocked, dragged, and dropped wherever you'd like it. You can assign a hotkey to lock/unlock the bar.
  • Individual gadgets can be unlocked, dragged, and dropped in any order. You can assign a hotkey to lock/unlock the gadgets.
  • There is a separate mode for PvE and PvP -- the bar switches automatically. You can have different gadgets on the PvP bar than you do on the PvE bar.
  • Almost every gadget has options for coloration, warning thresholds, and different options for displaying the data just how you like it.
  • Research and fast travel timers can be automatically hidden when not in use.
  • Every gadget has a tooltip that can display additional information.
  • The Elder Bar can hide itself automatically when you choose. Choices include talking to NPCs, visiting the bank, crafting, and more.
  • The bar can be scaled from 50% to 150% of it's normal size.
  • An optional setting turns the bar red when you are in combat.
  • Track mount training times across multiple characters. You can choose whether to track a character or not. Automatically stops tracking characters with mounts at maximum.
  • Track gold across multiple characters. You can choose whether to track a character or not.
  • Icons come in two variations: classic white and color.
  • There are five different pulse settings to draw your attention to gadgets, when a critical threshold has been met: fade in, fade out, fade in/out, slow blink, fast blink.

Yet another thing that people might find helpful (I know I would), would be for the timer for horse training, when it gets to zero to turn red.

Maybe even an option to slowly blink (or pulse), so I don't miss the fact that I can train my horse.

Cool.

Here's an idea for a gadget that I'm not sure is possible.

But if the information is available to add-on creators, I'd like to see a gadget that shows 'Unread mails'

Speaking of which, I was hoping to see some more options for how to display Bag Space and Bank Space.

That being just Slots Free

Not sure if anyone would want a just Slots Used option. Personally I want to just see Slots Free, since I'll generally remember how many total slots I have in my bag and bank (since those don't change often).

I do like having lots of gadgets on display, but also want to cut down on the amount of extraneous information I'm seeing.

I've been reworking the icons for The Elder Bar to provide color options that I am happy with.

Here's a few examples of some works in progress:


You'll also have a choice of grayscale versions and the pure white icons that you're used to now.

More color is a request Iíve gotten a few times. Coloring text is easy. Coloring icons might be more difficult. Most of the icons com from ESO itself and they only come in white. If thereís some function that lets you recolor images I might be able to do it. If I have to provide all the colored graphics myself that would be harder. Iíll poke around and see what I can find. I can easily not print out the text next to the icons.
You might want to talk to the author of "Points of Color", who has built color versions of a lot of icons in the game. A handful of those, in fact, show up in color on TEB for me so I guess they are the same textures.

If they were willing, that could help fill out recolored versions of the icons.
They basically redrew the icons for Points of Color. I am going to look into this a bit myself. Iíve extracted the DDS files and converted them all to PNG format. I should be able to deliver icons similar to Points of Color or possibly contribute to that project. Either way Iíd be able to offer colored icons that donít suck.

Sorry I just started using this, so I'm full of ideas as I use it.

I was thinking another piece of information to add to the Gadgets would be # of Skill Points / Total Skill Points.

There are Skill point finder addons but it would be nice to track your progress on the Elder Bar.

Suggestion

I'd like to suggest that for Research Timers, there be an option to either show all timers you have (for any given craft research) which it currently does OR to only show the shortest timer of available slots for a craft.

So say I have two research slots for Woodworking. Both are being used, one with 22 hours and the other with 6 hours. It would only show 6 hours, indicating that is when the earliest slot will come available. I can easily see the other timers by hovering over the icon (as it now does), or while I'm at the craft station.

If there is any free/open slot, instead of showing a time, it can say free or open (or I suppose just the dashes works too).

P.S. If it does say something like 'open' perhaps it could also be colored green, to make it more evident you have an research slot open.

NEW VERSION

Hi all,

I've just released a new version which fixes the thousands separator for durability.

Seems I was converting the total cost to a string while in the loop counting up the cost. Everything works fine until the thousands separator shows up, then Lua blows up.

I've moved the conversion outside of the loop, which is where it should have been all along. What surprises me the most is the fact that it wasn't blowing things up even when a separator wasn't added, as I was converting the total cost to a string anyway. Oh well.

This goes to show that perhaps I shouldn't throw so many changes into one release at once. I feel like perhaps I rushed this out a bit.

Ok, the error seems to happen when the repair cost goes over 1K. I had this on 3 of 14 chars. Once I repaired them so the repair cost went under 1K the bar instantly went from blank to having the proper values and I could finally remove the error window.
The trigger may not be exactly 1K. As I was adventuring I went over 1K repair and the error message popped up. Once I repaired to below 1K I could cancel the error message as normal. Later in the same session I went over 1K but no message immediately, it did trigger a little later though after the repair bill went up again (I think to about 1040 or so). Again repairing solved the issue. Hope this helps.

Also one feature wykkd's toolbar had that I don't see on yours was an option to hide the horse training gadget if the training is maxxed out rather than just displaying Maxxed. Not really important as your is better in pretty much every other respect at this point.
