LibAddonMenu is a library which offers many functions for add-on authors to simplify creating a configuration panel in the game's settings menu.

Users:

If the game cannot load some addon because it is missing LibAddonMenu-2.0 as a dependency, simply download and install it like you would any other addon. In case it shows as "out of date" in the game, simply enable the "allow out of date addons" checkbox.
IMPORTANT
In case you get an error that contains text like this:
user:/AddOns/<some other addon>/Libs/LibAddonMenu-2.0

Some other addon you have installed likely contains an old version of LibAddonMenu which is loaded before the most current one.

Make sure to search for LibAddonMenu-2.0 folders in your AddOns folder and delete all of them. Afterwards install the latest version of LibAddonMenu-2.0 separately.

Ever since I (sirinsidiator) have taken over development of LAM-2.0 in 2015, the project is available on github and open for contributions by other authors.

With the ongoing effort to get rid of LibStub in favour of the library management capabilities provided by the game itself since Summerset was released, it is no longer recommended to embed LAM, or use LibStub to access it. Instead it should simply be specified as a dependency and accessed via the new LibAddonMenu2 global variable. Instead of providing it as part of another add-on, users should install and update it separately.

Quickstart:
Simply add LAM2 as a dependency in your addon manifest:

I got a error when I tried to access addon settings (Settings- AddOns). It mentioned LibAddonMenu. After looking around in my addon folder I found that a lot of addons were(is?) bundled with libaddonmenu. I then deleted all files and folders name libaddonmenu and installed it seperately instead. That fixed it. Im not sure every user should go through this though, having to manually delete libaddonmenu files and folders from their other addons.

sirinsidiator, what would you suggest people handle this? Is manually deleting libaddonmenu files/folders from all your addons then installing seperately the correct way to go about it? Would you suggest doing something else, that may be easier/safer?

There is no difference between LibStub 5 and 6. The version number was only changed because of the standalone package, which LAM doesn't use. In the next LAM update I will remove the embedded LibStub completely.

That's your opinion. My opinion is that it's common courtesy to check the "allow outdated addons" checkbox and be done with it.
It isn't. After spending some time away from ESO I come back to begin the tedious process of getting dozens of add-ons up to date. I hit a snag with LibAddonMenu, which refused to get up to date despite the triple-checking. Thankfully I came across this flippant comment, and can stop wasting more time on this. An "only updated when a patch breaks functionality, which you'll discover yourself" note will be most be courteous.

You need to give your dropdown a reference and then call MyDropdown:UpdateChoices() after changing them in the optionsTable. Alternatively you can just pass the new choices directly to the function: MyDropdown:UpdateChoices(choices[, choicesValues[, choicesTooltips]])

Refreshing Options Panel?

Hey, I've been trying to get my settings panel to refresh or update when I update the data needing to be shown in the panel. I have a list of houses in a drop down menu that the user can select from to configure other settings. I'm trying to get it so that when they purchase a new house it will update on the settings panel without having to reloadui. I've double checked that my list does update (by using a slash command to put the data to chat) but I can't figure out how to make the settings panel update. I have the panel set to register for updates but it's not updating the dropdown menus.

It's not an addon, but a library. A collection of functions used by other addon authors in order to create their settings menu without having to do the heavy lifting themselves.

LAM isn't working on the PTS and the issue had to do with ipairs. I haven't narrowed it down to if it's a particular addon (that is working on live) or whether something fundamental changed and is breaking LAM. Just a heads up.
PTS workaround to fix addon settings:
LibAddonMenu-2.0.lua Line 964 change to "--KEYBOARD_OPTIONS:ChangePanels(lam.panelId)"

As a end user of the game and the add-ons that are so graciously made by people (for free) in their free time that add to the functionality and enjoyment of the game. I believe that clicking the use out of date is a good idea and should be employed by all players as updates are not always needed for add-ons.

That being said if you do not want to see the API out of date just open the .txt file in the specific add-on folder and edit that line yourself, it is very easy to do.

Buy editing the API number yourself you leave the person who made the add-on free to spend time on other things, maybe even more add-ons to enhance the game.

I am using add-ons that have not been updated in over a year they still work and I just manually change the API number keep the out of date box checked.


Change the line:
## APIVersion: 100025 100026
to:
## APIVersion: 100027 100028

It's only common courtesy to keep your ##APIVersion up to date in your manifest, and check the compatibility checkbox in the "manage addon" screen so esoui says "compatible with the latest game version".
That's your opinion. My opinion is that it's common courtesy to check the "allow outdated addons" checkbox and be done with it.
I've been running it with outdated addons and playing a lot I have not seen one problem with this one or libdatetime libdebuglogger libgettext libpromises libslashcommander libtextfilter no lua errors for any of those can you just set the apiversion pretty please?
