AlphaGear 2  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 6.5.0 beta1
by: mesota [More]
Anything you need to manage your skills and gear.

AlphaGear 6.5.0 is compatible with Murkmire and provides 20 freely configurable profiles.

I've adopted this great AddOn from AlphaLemming and changed the name to "AlphaGear 2" for the version that I maintain.

AlphaGear 2 lets you create up to 16 builds that may be activated with a single button press. Each build consists of
  • 7 pieces of armor
  • 3 pieces of jewelry
  • 2 weapon bars including poison
  • 2 skill bars
  • 1 outfit

Use cases
  • Switch between different roles
  • Switch between PvE and PvP environment
  • Create two (or more) builds with the same equipment, but different skill bars to create situational skill setups (solo, group, etc...)

New and noteworthy in 6.5.0 beta1
  • ESO 4.2 (Murkmire)
  • New: Profiles
    • 20 profiles with 16 builds each
    • Copy/paste of skill- and gear-sets between profiles
    • Hotkeys for toggle profiles, next and previous profile
    • Hotkeys for profile selection
    • Sort profiles by sort key. Allows custom sorting and grouping of profiles

Known Issues
  • Updating a version prior 6.x with minion doesn't seem to work. Workaround: Delete the .../AddOns/AlphaGear directory and reinstall AlphaGear 2. Don't delete anything from .../SavedVariables. AlphaGear 2 will reuse your already created sets.

Credit goes to...
  • Marify for Japanese translation
  • adrienmoorea for French translation
  • Hoft for Russian translation
  • Snow and many others for valuable feedback
  • UESP for the list of skill ids prior to Summerset

Found a Bug? Missing Feature?
Just post a comment. I'll add (almost) any request to the wish list.

AlphaGear 2 Version Numbers

I use the following semantics for AlpahGear 2 version numbers:
<Major>.<Minor>.<Patch> <Qualifier>

Major: Always "6" for the branch that I maintain
Minor: Increases with every new ESO version:
  • 3.1 (Horns of the Reach) = "0"
  • 3.2 (Clockwork City) = "1"
  • 3.3 (Dragon Bones) = "2"
  • 4.0 (Summerset) = "3"
  • 4.1 (Wolfhunter) = "4"
  • 4.2 (Murkmire) = "5"

Patch: Increases with every fixed bug or enhancement within a minor version.
Qualifier: Arbitrary labels like "alpha", "beta" to indicate a version which is not ready for production ;).

Wishlist
  • Outfit/Costume/RolePlay
    • Slot for costume
    • Bind persona to build: outfit, mount, guild tabard, pets, hats
    • Integration of stiles (skins, costumes, guild tabard, hat, hair style, etc.)
  • Global UI
    • Make AlphaGear icon visible only in the inventory screen
    • Add configurable transparency for all the parts of the mod
    • Add colored icons/change icon colors individually
    • Add different icon sizes (smaller and larger than now)
    • Tooltips for settings
    • Split current-set icon into two separate icons
    • Automatically open AG window if skills window is opened
  • Integrations
    • FCO Item Saver
    • Champion Point Respec or simple CP-Management
  • Profiles/builds
    • Remember the last visible build in a profile
    • Auto activate profile in region
    • Copy/Paste for builds (like copy/paste for gear and skills)
    • Add a one-button create-build-from-what-i'm-wearing function
  • Gear
    • Auto-repair armor using repair-kits
    • Auto-repair armor in bag (not only worn)
    • Default for auto-repair: off
    • Option: Deposit even worn items of a set
  • Other
    • Add means to write changes to the disk without logout (trigger /reloadui)
    • Add indicator for light, medium and heavy armor to BAG_WORN
    • Add set indicator to bank item
    • Better integration for gamepad mode (skill, inventory, banking)
    • Bug: Parent of set buttons is action bar. Set buttons not visible when AB is hidden

Issues
  • The skill bars are changed to those from the new set, even if the weapons of the new set weren't loaded due to the lack of bag space.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a sorting/display problem. Didn't see this in my tests because I always use a sort key. As a workaround: fill the sort key field with a meaningful string.

Like:
pve.heal
pve.tank
pve.dd
pvp.heal
...

this will assure that profiles remain in a stable order.
Will be fixed in the next beta.

As any other addon: settings are saved only on logout. Can't be influenced by addon. I think I've read something about a storage api in one of the next versions but as of now AG doesn't use it.

I think reloading the UI saves the changes too.
You're right. Missed that.

Why does AlphaGear not save the disguise/tabard slot along with the rest of your gear? I have a setup for PVP and liked having my guild tabard automatically equip when I switched to that set. Likewise, most of my characters have a gearset for thievery/assassination, and I love pairing the Servant Robes costume (from Stros M'kai) so the char really looks like a commoner. Not the end of the world, but it would be nice to have that functionality in your add-on.

Now to my suggestion: the primary reason I made the switch was your support for Outfits - love being able to have various gearsets paired with different outfits, great feature! In that same vein, why not add the ability to assign a mount and non-combat pet to a loadout?
I've added your suggestion to the wish list...

I agree; the pet and mount would be awesome

Multiple characters

Hi,
I only have 3 buttons available for binding; is there a way to be able to use the same 3 buttons for different builds on different toons? Or does each toon needs its own keybindings for its own sets?

Love the addon but....

Is there a way to expand the number of slots (skill setups specifically). Being a healer and dps, i'm short skill set ups, unfortunately will have to swap to dressing room if this isn't possible as it's essential.

Is is possible for you to include said feature in Alphagear? Imo it'd be damn awesome to be able to switch between PvE & PvE or "PvE normal" & "PvE vAS+2 score run" setup within a single click.
In general, I won't copy the functionality of an add-on if the add-on does it's job. But it is possible for AG2 to invoke functions of other add-ons. Maybe the other add-on provides an interface which could be used by AG2 to make your dream come true.

What's the name of the add-on you're talking about?

-meota
This is it.
Of course I understand that you won't ruthlessly copy another author's work, however maybe you could implement something like a "slim version" of said addon? I mean AlphaGear is about switching builds on the fly, and in my understanding CP's belong to a build, especially when you're using the addon for running different trials on the same char (besides swapping gear and skills you definitely should change your red CPs depending on which incoming dmg type you're gonna face)
Added to wish list.
