TraitBuddy is an addon that tries to help you easily manage and keep track of what crafting research traits all your characters know. Great for those alt'o'holics out there just like myself.

I have expanded many game tooltips so that the information you want to see is right there on the item where you need it. There is also a custom screen if you prefer to see all the research in one place.

In case you are unsure what an alt is, it is a term to describe another/alternative character.

This addon is for Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworker and Jewellery traits as the other professions don't have traits you can research.

The latest version of addon library LibAddonMenu is required and will need to be installed separately.

Features

Expanded in-game tooltips:
Bag, loot, mail, buyback, trade, guild store search, guild store listings, links placed in chat, quest rewards, crafting, equipped items, and motifs
See the traits your character and your alts know
See the traits your character and your alts are researching
Automatically knows when your research has finished. You don't need to log on to your alts for it to update.
See the motifs your character and your alts know
Research overview screen
Compact movable window
Allows you to view any of your alts by simply picking them from a dropdown or using an icon bar
The screen you see will be just as if you had logged on to that alt
You choose which alts are included/compared
Customisable icon and text colours
Translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Russian
Supports gamepad mode
Ability to filter motifs, unknown, almost completed etc
List of all crafted sets with details of their bonuses and locations

What do the icons mean?
Green Tick
The selected character has researched that trait.

Orange Tick
At least one or more of your characters has completed researching that trait.
But not the currently selected character.

Blue Hourglass
The selected character is researching that trait.

Orange Hourglass
No characters have completed researching that trait but one or more of your characters have started to learn it.

The colours can be customised from the options.

How to set it up

Log in to each character one by one so TraitBuddy can automatically work its magic
Check out the tooltips on items with traits and motifs

There are 3 ways to open the TraitBuddy window

Bind a key
Use the buttons added to the corners of the crafting stations, skill screen and guild store
Use the chat commands /traitbuddy and /traitbuddyoptions

Use any combination you prefer.
Binding a key is done from the normal ESO options screen

Bring up the ESO Options > Controls > Keybindings and scroll down until you see "TraitBuddy Addon"
Choose a key you would like to use to show and hide the window
Personally I bind the ] key

Info for other Addon makers
Detect when mousing over a trait in TraitBuddy
In your onLoad function

Furthermore, I really don't need to see "You know this trait." at all, let alone printed in glaring red! The original horizontal text list of characters able to use an item for research is sufficient. The new Trait Buddy tooltip data size increase results in displaying a tooltip on which I cannot even read the name of the item, which is bumped past the top of the HUD. There are other add-ons which I use that add useful information to tooltips, including Tamriel Trade Centre, Master Merchant, and Harven's Trait and Style -- as well as others that do so without increasing the length of the item tooltip. (Other add-ons add information to tooltips for which Trait Buddy is irrelevant, and sometimes there is a problem with the amount of space which they use, too.) It also appears that you've simply replaced existing configurations with your defaults. Everything is "on". For many of them, it is not easy to recognize exactly what will happen to a tooltip if it is "on". You should have made the default "off" and let us decide which ones we want enabled. I have four crafting characters and a fifth which is a mule toon. It would take a rather significant amount of my limited playing-time to re-configure each and every one of them. What were you thinking when you did this? (Note: if there is a way to reduce the size of a font to which color is applied by this lousy text editor, then I have never been able to find it.) Install TraitBuddy
Enable it for all your characters from the normal ESO addon screen
Load each character in one by one
Then go to the TraitBuddy settings and untick any professions you dont want to track on the characters

Dont press the X at the end of the TraitBuddy character management screen as that removes the data for that character.

Let me know if you still have problems

If you play on the NA server it would now do that.
EU and NA settings are now separate

The tooltip of all the craftable sets in the TraitBuddy screen shows which zone they are in.
I did look into also adding in the POI name but that became hard to do.

This information is now detected in the same way as the TraitBuddy tooltips. Essentially making it the same code which should improve its accuracy. I also added more checks to reduce errors. Hopefully 2 things will happen now, it will be correctly detecting traits on items in places like crafting stations and in the rare cases where it doesn't then TraitBuddy won't error. I still have improvements to add when traits complete researching. I need to find the time to do this.
