TraitBuddy is an addon that tries to help you easily manage and keep track of what crafting research traits all your characters know. Great for those alt'o'holics out there just like myself.

I have expanded many game tooltips so that the information you want to see is right there on the item where you need it. There is also a custom screen if you prefer to see all the research in one place.

In case you are unsure what an alt is, it is a term to describe another/alternative character.

This addon is for Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworker and Jewellery traits as the other professions don't have traits you can research.

The latest version of addon library LibAddonMenu is required and will need to be installed separately.

Features

Expanded in-game tooltips:
Bag, loot, mail, buyback, trade, guild store search, guild store listings, links placed in chat, quest rewards, crafting, equipped items, and motifs
See the traits your character and your alts know
See the traits your character and your alts are researching
Automatically knows when your research has finished. You don't need to log on to your alts for it to update.
See the motifs your character and your alts know
Research overview screen
Compact movable window
Allows you to view any of your alts by simply picking them from a dropdown or using an icon bar
The screen you see will be just as if you had logged on to that alt
You choose which alts are included/compared
Customisable icon and text colours
Translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Russian
Supports gamepad mode
Ability to filter motifs, unknown, almost completed etc
List of all crafted sets with details of their bonuses and locations
Support for other addons such as Inventory Grid View and Inventory Insight
Icons in inventory
Plus a lot more...

What do the icons mean?
Green Tick
The selected character has researched that trait.

Orange Tick
At least one or more of your characters has completed researching that trait.
But not the currently selected character.

Blue Hourglass
The selected character is researching that trait.

Orange Hourglass
No characters have completed researching that trait but one or more of your characters have started to learn it.

The colours can be customised from the options.

How to set it up

Log in to each character one by one so TraitBuddy can automatically work its magic
Check out the tooltips on items with traits and motifs

There are 3 ways to open the TraitBuddy window

Bind a key
Use the buttons added to the corners of the crafting stations, skill screen and guild store
Use the chat commands /traitbuddy and /traitbuddyoptions

Use any combination you prefer.
Binding a key is done from the normal ESO options screen

Bring up the ESO Options > Controls > Keybindings and scroll down until you see "TraitBuddy Addon"
Choose a key you would like to use to show and hide the window
Personally I bind the ] key

Info for other Addon makers
Detect when mousing over a trait in TraitBuddy
In your onLoad function

One of the new events EVENT_NON_COMBAT_BONUS_CHANGED is not firing at the times I expect. I am posting right now to ESO so they can investigate. It looks like a bug to me but could also be I am using the new event incorrectly. I will replace this new event code in TraitBuddy tomorrow after work until it is fixed by ESO. Light at the end of the tunnel.

Each of them show correctly in TB, with the right time. I just log off and log another character each time, and i do not see any settings not beeing saved. Thought you wanted to know may be UPDATE : though i encounter the same problem as you are on another addon, which do not register the change of my characters (Salti) (do not keep in savedvar the deposit made of AP once i leave the game, or reloadui, or log to character) Last edited by Anceane : 08/15/17 at 07:18 PM.

Weolo Forum posts: 79 File comments: 563 Uploads: 4	In my tests so far - I log in to a character who can research 2 items - Do a /reloadui to force a settings save - Check the TraitBuddy SavedVariables file and it correctly shows max of 2 being stored If I log out to the character selection screen and check the file again this setting has changed back to 1. If instead I quit straight out of the game and check the file again this setting has changed back to 1. So in all my tests the setting is not being saved at all when you log out or quit. I will keep checking and doing more tests but I am starting to think there is some bug in the game since the patch. I find that the list of research below the counters is also incorrect when alting. I can't comment on what ZOS might have changed, but CraftStore counts are correct between character logins... so if ZOS did change things, they might have figured it out. However, I love the TraitBuddy interface too much to want to open up CraftStore

I found a tedious and long workaround to get it to display correctly while on different characters until you get the official fix up and running. I found that if I quit the game completely instead of logging off, it properly saves the information, so when I log into a different character I can see the proper values.

Not very efficient, but at least for the characters where I know the traits may finish in a day or two, I can log in and quit. Will make training mounts and doing writs more tedious, but at least I'll know.

Thought this extra info might help somehow, though you said you already discovered the bug.

On the left, this is when I'm logged into that character and it shows the accurate times. On the right, that's when I'm checking from any of my other characters. They are all impacted the same way when viewed from alts.

I did not change anything connected with the research, that is odd and detecting how many things you can research at once (3/3 etc) was not changed also. This is set only when you log that character on so for you it should have already been remembers and not changed :$
I will check things out to see if I notice this bug also.

Could you also check that you only have my version of TraitBuddy installed in minion? some people had mine and an old version someone copied some time back.

Thank you for this addon! It really is one of the best for quick views and I use it every day before I log off to make sure I don't need to start some research and to plan the order of character logins.

There is one major issue with the latest version which basically removes my favorite feature. The Research tab that shows the list of all the characters with the bars and countdowns for how long is left is not accurate for any characters that I'm not logged into. When I log into each of them and check that tab, it shows the correct times only for the currently logged in character, but all others become inaccurate even if I had just refreshed their data. In fact, I have some traits that show 46 days left to research which is impossible with all the passives. Several of them show 3/1 instead of 3/3 as well, so it seems it isn't detecting the passives correctly. I updated to the latest version today and see the new Invigorating trait that is replacing Prosperous, so I have the latest version. I also tried to delete the saved variables file and log into several characters to refresh the data. Same symptoms. Thank you for this addon!
