Automatically starts researching traits when at a craft station.

When paired with the Research Craft addon, you can to craft a bunch of research gear to store in your bags/bank, and then have your character automatically research the next item from the stockpile according to your configured priorities.

Dependencies

You must install the following libraries separately from this addon in order for it to work. I highly recommend using the Minion addon manager to simplify this process.

Use Cases
  • New players that want to store a bunch of research gear at once in the bank up front so they don't have to go find/buy/request new gear every few hours.
  • Storing a ton of research gear in your writ alts' bags so you don't have to manage their research manually.
  • Established crafters that haven't finished research, but tend to forget about it due to the long research times can store 10 or so research items in the bank so they don't have to worry about managing research for several months.

Configuration

The only gear used currently are the following:
  • No items locked with FCO Item Saver (v1.0+ required)
  • No items locked with in-game lock
  • Items marked for research with FCO Item Saver (Overrides all of the following exclusions. v1.0+ required)
  • Quality less than or equal to the maximum configured quality. Default is blue quality (arcane).
  • Style is one of the configured allowed styles. By default, these include the racial styles plus Ancient Elf, Barbaric and Primal. You can either choose these in settings, or use the Auto Research right click menu to enable the checkbox for the style to allow it.
  • Non-set equipment, or sets that have been specifically selected. LibSets is required for selecting sets. Once enabled in settings, you can either choose a set manually in settings, or use the Auto Research right click menu to enable the checkbox for the set to allow it.
  • Only equip slots (e.g. Helm, Cuirass, etc.) that have been assigned a priority under the desired trait line (e.g. Blacksmithing) will be researched, in the priority configured. Equip slots set to (none) will not be researched.

Equipment pieces are selected for research based on fastest research times. For example, if you have all clothing pieces 8 trait researched *except* for medium armor helmets that have 7 traits, then medium armor helmets will be given preference over any other clothing pieces.

Trait research order is customizable under Settings > Addons > Auto Research, with 1 being the highest priority, and 9 being the lowest.

All else being equal, gear in the current player inventory is given preference over gear in the bank, lower quality items are preferred over higher quality ones, and lower level items are preferred over higher level items. You can also choose to select gear from just the current player inventory or just the player bank.

What is working for me is to just lock things I want to keep, maybe a certain set. I enable all and put things in my inventory that match what I need to research next. If i am missing a certain trait i want on metal legs, for example, i can buy that and keep it in inventory instead of bank, to make sure it gets done next.
I think the addon needs a select all button for sets.
Also, some of the default priorities could be optional, or toggled, changed, reordered.
However, I really like having it, just run around and hit your stations when doing writs, then check (craft store addon) to see what is missing, buy that from the guild store, hit the station again, click horsey.

i got it
you put the ones you want to research in your inventory (i just buy em off the guild store as needed)
pretty good, makes it easy; and you don't have to worry about it, but eventually the times will get up there and you kinda wanna at least finish getting like 3x of each for example; so you can put em in inv and they will go first; or probably even in bank, it will fill in the gaps
i just selected all sets, and i lock stuff i want to keep

ok, so i figured it out finally
the part where it says 'non set items' or use libsets and change the settings
guessing that will do it
man, what a headache
.
i'd say maybe make all those 'default' selections optional, tick boxes or something
and reword it to say what you can do AND what you can't do or something, idk
whatever

I think i've got it. I read that it does prioritize low times over anything else, so something that isn't trained, if not deselected will receive higher priority than something that has 1 or 2 traits trained.

Perfectly reasonable, considering the greater chance of drops for having everything trained up. And you can deselect it otherwise.
it failed to research again; it did one but not 2 blacksmithing items; i tried putting the priority at the top for the other one, because it was epic, and tried changing the max quality to legendary, but nothing; wound up doing it manually; i have all the style options on
so, i tried it again, after a blacksmithing research slot opened up; nothing; it won't do it
so, using minion i deleted saved variables; still nothing; ie default settings

So, the addon decided to not use the available choices for research in woodworking. I had several different things for it to use, but I had selected 'training' as the top priority, so it couldn't get past that, maybe?

Strange - today it worked again. Same char, nothing else changed. Had some cloth and leather items to research and it used them without problems. Don't know. Only difference: yesterday I had the items in my own inventory, today the were in my bank.

Which item specifically do you think it should be researching? Does it meet the criteria outlined in the description page? Check that quality and item style are allowed. If it has a set, make sure the set is allowed (LibSets required). Make sure it's not locked somehow, or protected by FCOItemSaver.

I seem to have the same problem. I have used the addon now for a longer time. It had worked before (at least some 25 days before, since that was my last research-start). Now I have a pair of normal iron boots in my inventory (white, no set, nothing special) and I can manually start research, but it won't start automaticly. Perhaps something in the greymoor-update has changed ?

I had your addon installed, it was very handy on researching traits when going to crafting station even select different items, gears for deconstructs it will start research for that trait, now here's the bad part, everytime I select or highlight an item even epic item, start research, I am unaware that some of epic and legendary gear and weapons are missing even in my bank although I never deconstruct them because of value status after notification of research is done it is simply all my epic gear and wepons are mysteriously gone, my hunding rage, ancient dragonguard, epic and legendary sets etc are gone. Are you aware on this problem?
